That can't be the only reason. Overseas animation makes you have a bunch more annoying meetings late or early morning, but its not like the Koreans are so incompetent that you have to babysit them. They had animation directors like Shigloo to help with that, anyways.

They probably just sat down, realized all of the work it would take to fill up two more seasons and said fuck it, we need a break.
It’s not that they’re incompetent, it’s that Yotta and Bento were actually not only their friends yet also largely capable of working on the specialty animation the outsourcing studios rejected wholesale and outsourced back to them. Makes everything far worse, they had to set up ZAM to handle all the cool things, while the old studios just… did them, or worked outright with the guest animators themselves in the same pipeline as everything else.

There might not be anything more smiling friends than going out on an episode where the payoff to the Alan B plot is the best part of the episode, the show began just as it ended.

I don't think it's just a matter of being friends, we know from what Mike and Zach and the Sleepycabin guys have said along the years in the podcast and other places (Create Unknown and such), part of the point of their projects was giving a chance to Internet Animation talent. Across the 3 seasons we were all surprised repeatedly by "oh this bit was done by this guy from youtube that does this very niche [insert here]-style animations, awesome!". But not only the specialty stuff, we have the story of this guy who rose from doing a few storyboard to directing episodes to supervising stuff.

They were lucky (and hard working) enough to get a chance in the industry, and they wanted to give other Internet creatives that same chance. Outsourcing shit to Korea defeats the purpose.

Loved the ending, I'm glad they got to end it on their own terms and not have it become a zombie. The jab at Indians, based! All 3 seasons were fantastic.

I will miss the Boss and his unhinged antics.

There's something a little bittersweet on how one of the "last" lines of the show is "i'll never stop joking around and being silly!"
And a message from Michael Cusack i think you guys might appreciate.

Smiling Friends really went all out and did three seasons without a single dud episode. Even if the gang never make another TV show again, that's something to be absolutely proud of.

My favorite of the final two episodes was the Charlie's Uncle one. Great episodes. I also noticed the 3d critters fighting, one of them was from some old flash game. Can't remember it for the life of me though.

Also, some modder for some game, Rivals of Aether, made Mr. Frog as a Steam Workshop item for the game.

Wasn't sure to post it here or in the trans sideshows thread, but this is so funny to me. Someone should make it a random.txt. "Hitler particles" these people are so far removed from reality it's insane.

I’m gonna miss the schizos this show attracted, they were genuinely funny. Extra comedy on top.

I guess because they never had a hope of infecting something good here, so it made it more hilarious than it normally is.

I should have posted when the last episodes were airing, but I’m going to miss Smiling Friends. It was one of the few new animated adult shows that captured my attention. However, I’m somewhat glad that they’re ending early. So they can avoid becoming like Rick and Morty and still be on their 20th season.
Anyways Here’s a BossmanJack screaming edit of the Jeremy scenes (headphone users beware)
