I normally have a laugh at the freak outs regarding a small amount of snow in the south. However, not having heat/water actually does suck so the concern is understandable this time around.

That said, no surprise about the massive car accidents in TX. Drivers there are only marginally less retarded than in CA (which takes the cake in driver retardation in my experience). Add ice to that mix and watch out.

Europe has the North Atlantic current. So as long as that keeps on bringing up warmer water from the Gulf Stream Bong Land and will be fine.

I'm glad I moved to Florida 2 years ago. I just hope it never snows here.
 
This might be the first of bad winters and cold summers, due to the Grand Solar Minimum. Should we change the thread title to reflect that? Might be useful to record temps and compare them per year.

Walked to work and clocked in, only for them to close the store an hour in. Got my groceries and walked back. Not even sure what the point of opening up was, but hey, I got food.

Kinda weird my power didn't go out yet. Grateful for that at least.
 
Biggest pain in the ass was going without power and internet for 36 hours. Fucking windmills freezing over got us.

Also I don't want to hear shit from Coloradans or the like, you dumbasses have 100 car pile ups every year from the cold. Not like yall are all fucking ace drivers even with your "experience". Only wreck I saw was from a big pickup truck backing into a tiny nissan versa in a parking lot. Tales of disorder here are greatly overexaggerated.
 
We have another freeze coming tonight and still no water. Know some people in Houston who have been w/o power for 3 days now and went to a church to get warm and when they got home their pipes were busted. Tons of dmg to their home.
 
The power is back on. Now I can go back to cooming instead of imagination.

edit:Forgot to mention how people are out here making fires outside and hearing my neighbor cursing the power company over "the greater good" of conserving power for the state.

Having a generator means a degree of self sufficiency the same as having earthquake supplies or a HAM radio (if you are that austistic).

These are not the types of traits you see in the "We live in a society" people. I am guess they have minimal food in their cupboards and usually DoorDash or use a mealkit service. Most do not know if their power is out their gas range will not work.

Instead of learning about HAM radio or even having a few CBs / walkie talkies they rely on cell phone which will run out of generator power in 24 hours.

Basically, a lot of these people have the belief that it's the governments responsibility to solve problems not knowing how incompetent the government is.
 
Snowpocalypse appears to be over for New England. Skies are sunny and clear and roads have already been plowed spotless in the suburbs.
 
Imagine going to LOWES and paying $10 each for a 2x4. Then having the clerk cut them for you because you don't own a saw. Then going home and burning that new pine lumber in a fireplace. And after that going to stand in line for hours to maybe get a can of spam because you don't keep more then 2 days of food in your 4000 sq Texas McMansion. This is the life of a Texan.

Saw on the news here about the extreme cold and power outages in Texas, and everyone they interviewed was talking about charging their cell phones/not being able to charge their cell phones. Every single dumbass they interviewed brought it up. FUCK YOUR CELL PHONES.

I don't start to panic until the liquor runs out.

I saw this yesterday when I stopped by a lowe's. Have fun burning all that treated wood indoors? Also heard a story about a family that brought their gas grill inside their apt for heat and promptly gassed themselves with carbon monoxide in Houston. Apparently that's a common occurrence among the Somalis. Saw another apt complex on fire driving home yesterday too. Jesus christ I would not live in an apt nowadays where retards bring their grills inside to heat themselves.

I was hearing about numerous incidents involving charcoal grills being used indoors on the East Coast during that one really nasty coldsnap a while back.

I have no idea what would possess someone to burn charcoal indoors.
