I have this strange feeling that it's gonna cycle next gen. MS has been a lot better at doing consumer friendly shit, but at the start of this gen they were total assholes.
Sony was a total cunt leading into the PS3, and then they did consumer friendly shit about 1-2 years before the PS4, and now, Sony is doing dumb shit again.

Damn shame, since Sony won over MS this gen due to a great plethora of 3rd and 2nd party exclusives like Yakuza, Bloodborne, Nioh, and Persona and if they keep up their pigheaded behavior, they might end up losing it all.

It is starting though, Yakuza is now being ported to PC. Weeb games are now being released on PCs, though I hope in the future all weeb games will have simultaneous release with PC

ever since the news broke out, the last PS4 game i bought was SRW X. I wanna buy SRW T, but I guess I'll buy it for Switch.

It’s like a feedback loop, sony enforces a scummy censor on a game, normies don’t notice, permavirgins do notice it, permavirgins make the censor public, normies too bothered by the obnoxious permavirgins to care about free speech, story gets forgotten about, rinse and repeat
While normies don't care about anime titty simulators and might even want them banned, they do care about GTA, Red Dead, Smash Bros and other normie games. When they start falling foul of those, suddenly the normies care. I remember when nerds were complaining about always on DRM during the Xbone reveal, the normies didn't care, saying "who doesn't have an internet connection these days"? But somehow the Xbone still lost. I don't know if the nerds influence normies somehow, but it seems to happen.

Yet every single one of these autists will band together like this is some campaign for free speech when it is just them being horndogs and beating around the bush claiming the world will become Shimoneta or some dystopian hell when they will be the first to go due to how obnoxious they are.
You are absolutely correct. It's just horndogs who are upset that someone is taking away their shitty anime titty games, real games won't be censored. ...Why does Borderlands The Pre Sequel beep swear words and now refers to midgets as "lil people"? Why did they remove the feather from Mr Game and Watch in a patch for Smash Bros? Why is these scenes with attractive women covered in light rays covering every arse crack and belly button? Why are so many games safe, family friendly shit with the gore and tits toned down? Must be a coincidence.

Like I said earlier, I’m still not in favor of Sony’s behavior and the fact that it’s beginning to bleed into AAA games like DMC is a pretty shit sign.

I mean, I’m not just gonna stop supporting my favorite devs, especially since I’m poor and cannot afford an Xbone or a Switch. However, if this shit keeps up, then we might be in for a hell of a shitshow with the PS5

Sony Reveals The Existence Of Their Own Content Guidelines For PS4
By Alistair Wong . April 16, 2019 . 5:00pm

In a recent interview, Sony revealed officially for the first time that they do have separate internal content guidelines that developers must follow in order to get their games approved for PlayStation 4. [Thanks, WSJ!]

According to a Sony spokeswoman, the guidelines are there “so that creators can offer well-balanced content on the platform” and so that gaming “does not inhibit the sound growth and development” of kids. As for what the guidelines actually entail, Sony declined to comment.

This statement was further verified by various US, European, and Japanese developers, with some discontented with the shift. However, the developers remained anonymous thanks to non-disclosure agreements with Sony.

One particular factor as to why Japanese games seem targeted is because Sony is worried that their reputation could take a hit from explicit content. Two major factors for the change was identified – the rise of the #MeToo movement, and the rise of streaming, where more viewers might get exposed to Japan’s more lax standards towards fictional sexuality. This could potentially lead to legal repercussions, said Sony.

That said, Sony isn’t making clear to developers where the line in the sand is being drawn. Several software developers lamented that there weren’t clear written guidelines, and talked about how costly it was to send it out, only for it to be rejected to make several minor changes.

To add to this a real choice quote from Sankaku - remember NSFW articles are often popular, but should be disabled by default - who in turn got it from Wall Street Journal:
A US Sony official acknowledged that he knows about the dissent from outside developers, but he “hopes they would accept how the world has changed”:

“We don’t have criteria in written guidelines or that sort of thing because the policy was introduced kind of suddenly in the wake of the #MeToo movement,” the official said.

To add to this a real choice quote from Sankaku - remember NSFW articles are often popular, but should be disabled by default - who in turn got it from Wall Street Journal:
The second paragraph in the article does not make any sense. There are games available on the PS4 that are rated "M" that are still being censored. How does kids come into the equation? I know that there would always be those who would buy titles that are inappropriate for their ages, but the games aren't necessary targetted for them.

So the real reason why Sony are censoring games with lewd themes isn't because of old and tiresome 'think of the children' argument but because of fear of getting any backlash from the #MeToo movement?

You know the sad thing from all of this that I would at least have some respect left for Sony if they just did stuck with the 'think of the children' excuse rather than seeing them just caving in to a hate mob that has declared a war on men in general.

It's really sad when Nintendo (a company that is known for being family friendly) really doesn't give a shit now about lewd and sexual themes in many of the video games that are developed by a third party as they now allow them uncensored on their platforms while Sony does a 180 and decided to pick up the outdated censorship policy that Nintendo used back in the early 2000's and screw over both their fans as well as screwing over many of their own business partners in the long run.

All this will do in the long run is drive away many of Sony's fans to other platforms and most importantly this stupid shit will eventually drive away many of Sony's business partners to their competitors as well. See if you piss off your fans and they start to leave you then it's easy to get them back when you give them what they want but when you piss off your business partners then it's very difficult to get them back because they don't want to really risk losing more of their own money working with you after the fact.

So Sony can rot for all I care, unless they wake up and realize that their stupid censorship policy will hinder them in the long run and they may go down the path of Sega down the line.

The second paragraph in the article does not make any sense. There are games available on the PS4 that are rated "M" that are still being censored. How does kids come into the equation? I know that there would always be those who would buy titles that are inappropriate for their ages, but the games aren't necessary targetted for them.

Because a lot of parents in this day and age are too lazy to actually do their own jobs to raise their own kids. So rather than raising their own kids, they pretty much let both private entities and the government raise their kids for them.

Sony have always been arrogant cunts. Their arrogance is part of the reason why the company faltered so hard during the 2000s and 2010s. Their arrogance led them to completely ignore visible trends, like the rise of iTunes, and their arrogance is what made them price their completely banal products like premium show pieces. And of course, their arrogance led to the catastrophe that was the PS3. They just been more quiet about it since the PS3's failure, but it was always there, waiting to roar back. Both Nintendo and Microsoft were humbled by their failures and course corrected. Sony were not.

Their arrogance coupled with incredible stupidity, which is what led to the North Korea hacks, and to all the idiotic shit that got leaked as a result of it, destroying the careers of many Sony idiots like Amy Pascal.

Always-Online DRM is a major normie concern, why else do you think MS cancelled it so quickly?

My opinion on this kerfuffle is that it won't affect sales as much as people want to believe, consoles have always lived and died on three hills:
  1. How hard they are to pirate? (harder to pirate = better sales)
  2. How good the exclusive library is (better/more exclusives = better sales).
  3. How well-tuned the price/performance ratio is.
Anything else is inconsequential, no matter how much people self-delude themselves into thinking (I'm looking at Brandon Orselli and his sperg-out over how this will totally kill the PS5 -it won't- and how Sony conveniently timed their PS5 hype article to hide this initiative -they didn't, it's to preempt MS's new HEXBOX announcements-).

And of course, their arrogance led to the catastrophe that was the PS3. They just been more quiet about it since the PS3's failure, but it was always there, waiting to roar back.
Tbf, PS3 did eclipse 360 in the end, though that was mainly because Sony’s first parties began picking up the pace with exclusives around 2009 or so, meanwhile, MS started to fly off the rails around that time, since they began shifting attention away from exclusives in favor of the trashfire that was Kinect.

Still better than Sargoon capo Bill Usher reeeeing about Mortal Kombat tiddees all hours of the night while also telling us in TRUE AND HONEST detail about his favorite hentai games

Pricedrop happened too when the Slim version came out.

PS3 wasn't a complete failure, even though it had major issues at 1st.

And IMO, Sony pretty much has earned the right to be smug when it comes to the home console market, they pretty much boast the best record of any other hardware maker, dunno whether that influences the outcome of the next console war tho.

And tbh, even though they’re being somewhat modest now, MS aren’t exactly a humble publisher either. The reason Sony eclipsed them in 2012 or so to begin with was because the Kinect was hot garbage and MS slowed down production of major exclusives in favor of Kinect shovelware

I get why MS bet on the Kinect, the Wii was making waves back then, and they needed something to compete with it in the casual games market. Like in comparison, Sony was far lazier with their PS Move, and that didn't go anywhere either.

What I will never get is why it bet that big and that hard on it though, like it was a very big part of why the XB1 flopped (pretty sure we can say that by now).
