I feel like that with the iPhone. Apple just makes them shittier and shittier and at the same time, absurdly expensive, but I have apps I've been using since 2007. I really hate the trend of making them bigger and bigger. If I wanted a tablet I'd have bought one.
Speaking from myself who still owns an iPhone in experience, yes Apple is a very shitty company, and the fault is on the CEO Tim Cook for making it worse and worse.

I don’t; they’re all 32-bit and don’t work anymore. (:_(
If you are going to get a PS4, just get Dreams and Sackboy, then you get a funny as hell content creation game and a good 3D platformer. Besides those two exclusives…eh….
If you’re talking about the Sackboy platformer from a few years ago, that’s on PC now.

I’m beginning to believe this guy making a presentation on how millennials are the dumbest generation in a long time is true. Millennials are now the middle managers and the game directors in various studios.
The worst is: I am a millennial if you go by the definition of birth year, for me it’s one year too early born.
The reason I bring this up:
Remakes everywhere you look.
Not only is nostalgia of certain games now the big selling point which is retarded, because you don’t innovate and improve, but also there’s little impulse by the industry to make better products.

Certainly the fact that it’ll get bought anyway, the industry was also filled with crap back then and there a only a couple of games among thousands that are relevant today. Not to forget the financial risk that is undertaken when developing a game.
Maybe I am too jaded by the videogame industry especially Sony in the later years.
PS5‘s are still sold out here and they’re still selling vouchers which is scummy and hilarious, some people get their money back without Info why they got it back.
„Just wait till the 20th of February bro, voucher is equal to a PS5“

If I can’t buy it in the store myself or online without a voucher crap, fuck you Sony.

Speaking from a late-millennial like myself, it still comes across truly sickening to see big name companies to stereotype millennials and gen-Zs, but then hire a group of millennials to carry on the tradition of idiocy.

As much as I want to agree, the games industry at large has gotten more corporate and creates issues out of the control of the Millennial devs. The Boomers in charge make shit decisions constantly and are the main reason as to why companies like Ubisoft are plummeting.

The biggest example that gets me personally is RockSteady. That game not only developed great capeshit, they basically revolutionized gaming, and now what are they? Warner forced them into working on Suicide Squad so they can further Astro-turf the failing series then proceeded to force the shit show further by turning it into a games as a service.

The push to have games as a service and have the biggest AAA releases are the boomer decisions that have killed the industry. The sixth gen didn’t have these issues as the budgets were smaller and thus more small releases were made. Now it is go big or go home, so you need to be a shitty FPS otherwise you are going to have to bank on nostalgia for the now dead genres.

The PS4 was a good console. Not as classic a library as PS1 or 2 but solid. The woke shit didn't infect it until late in its life so there are plenty of good, non woke titles and interesting imports to enjoy
I spent a lot more time playing games on the 4 compared to the 3, a console i never warmed to and still the only console i sold off under one year of owning it. The 3, for me, was just disappointing game after disappointing game and was the first console to make me think i might not be the target demographic anymore.

I get why people are a bit sour on the PS3 but there's enough good titles on it for me to keep it. It was a pretty good console by the end of its life.

I was really hoping after AK came out with the Superman easter eggs, that maybe they would pivot and finally do a good Superman game. But that ain't happening. WB will keep them developing the worst of the worst in capeshit.

I have sincere doubts, even with the stock issues resolved, the PS5 situation will do a 180° in the nippon market. Hardware unit sales are exceptionally higher but software sales remain mediocre, it's more or less a "phantom console" there.

One Piece Odyssey.png One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 sales in 2022.png
For example, the Switch version of Pirate Warriors 4 (a musou game from 2020) returned to the Famitsu Top 30 several times and sold over 40k retail copies by December 2022, more than either Playstation version of One Piece Odyssey at launch this January. And in your link, Forspoken sold 29k retail copies in the past week on launch, which is what most games on the PS5 system have been performing so far.

The real test will be Final Fantasy 16 but it's likely to fall far below than what a mainline FF title used to perform in Japan. There is a bunch of other "big" releases on PS4/PS5 beforehand, namely Ryu ga Gotoku Isshin Kiwami, Wo Long and RE4make. I won't hold any surprise for Atelier Ryza 3, Project Zero and Octopath Traveler 2 doing better on Switch.

Basically, hardware numbers don't mean anything about the PS5 at this point. We kinda KNOW the PS5's true demand simply by looking at its software sales during the last two years.

Flash in the pan. Console gaming isn't what it used to be in Japan for it to be any measure of success.
The console market in Japan has been stronger than ever, even more so last year. Just not for Sony.
SIE shouldn't have sidelined that market completely and stripping off the japanese branch of any authority, but instead investing in what would have caught attention to the japanese public. Earth Defense Force 6 carrying the Playstation brand harder than Elden Ring (by being the most played PS title in 2022) is also the proof that high-budget games aren't necessarily needed, just actually fun ones.

They had plans for a Superman game. Actually, the whole Braniac invasion content of Suicide Squad was probably remnants of the previous development being repurposed. I guess they pitched Superman to WB and they declined. I heard that the original idea was not that great (some sort of de-powered Superman), but even still, they probably could have reworked it.

WB Montreal, the Arkham Origins developers, were also helming an entirely different project prior to WB intervening. Gotham Knights was likely built off a canceled Damian Wayne title that would have taken Arkham’s style and expanded it as Damian has save a Gotham that is in the transition period between Batman and Batman Beyond. Villains from the Batman and Beyond timelines would make appearances.

I can understand why they would depower him for a game so that you can fight just normal thugs and the like to give you a challenge. As long as you were able to fly around freely I wouldn't care about any restrictions on power output.

I do remember seeing stuff on YT about the Damian game I believe. Concept stuff. Was it supposed to be a sequel to AK specifically?

I don’t think anyone is entirely sure. My best guess would be yes, but Gotham Knights wasn’t so there was a good chance it was a new universe.

I don't see an issue with Remakes that fully modernize it (Resi 2, FF7 in ways), aren't avaliable on previous consoles, or just look super nice (Dead Space, Halo 2). Remakes aren't the issue, it's that a lot of developers just don't know what they're doing, or are TOO profit-driven like Blizzard. You can make a great product AND get a lot of money, don't have to milk us for every cent... But I'm just talking to the choir.

"Good" is a little too far I think, it was adequate/decent, and really, that's only because Nintendo was at a low point and Xbox has never been great, so it shined a bit brighter than it normally would have.

You don't have a good console when there's less than 10 exclusives worth mentioning and a sizeable portion of your library are just remasters from the last system. It was a placeholder for PS5, and PS5 is a placeholder for PS6.
