I've had a 4K TV since 2017 and I really can't tell the difference at normal sitting distance -- mind you it's a sane human sized 49inch TV not a massive 70inch plus one. But once you get good anti aliasing how much can you really, really tell even with a huge TV?

I buy physical movies and I don't bother buying 4K blu rays because they seem absolutely pointless.

You can connect a Pc to your tv and hook up a controller, suitable for living space then

We all grew up with 20 inch CRTs, 27 inch if you had money. My current TV is already way too big.

I do want a projector for watching movies

Somehow, resolution affects frame rate. And these consoles (or the games) cannot handle 4K 60fps despite it being a selling point.

The 'big' tele we had in the living room/sitting room when are were a lad was 27". The mega-drive had to stay in the living room on the 22" tele.
When we got a PS1, the mega drive went into my older brothers bedroom and his 19" crt, we sat close to it because it was a small room and played co-op collumns and Altered Beast. Never was a problem.

Nowadays I need a £1000 65" OLED, a £500 console and internet connection just to play 4k goyslop that doesn't have couch co-op? No thank you, Mr shekelstein.

We had a 25" console TV growing up. I've been using a projector for my TV for 20 years now. It's not family friendly due to the darkness required, luckily since I spent all my money on a projector I can't afford a wife. It's a bit much when gaming sometimes.

I was around 100" but in the current living room I shrank it a bit due to a closer seating limit due to the speaker positions. I figure going down to an 83" OLED would be about right and prices have dropped significantly from $10k or so. And the prices are probably cheaper than a new projector. Only real problem is I'll have to hire help to mount the OLED display.

But I'll save that expense for when this one explodes or I remodel the living room.
 
Glancing over twitter and reddit, it looks like there's some defective PS5 Pros out in the wild. No clue how widespread the issue is, but the console will apparently just die if you let it idle for too long and then only display a green screen when you try to hook it up to a display.

Buying any new console on day one is a dangerous game, I feel. Even just waiting a few months can yield much more reliable hardware revisions.
Of course, the PS5 Pros on shelves in a few months will probably be the same ones on shelves now, so I'm not sure what the solution is.
 
Speaking of the PS5 Pro, I saw one in a store. I saw an M4 Mac Mini close to it. It was cheaper by a hundred dollars.

I don't get it. How do you become more expensive than the company known for expensive shit.

With Game Porting Toolkit 2, the Mac even plays Windows games now, so somehow the PS5 will be the machine that actually plays less games than the Mac on the shelf.

GPT2 is pretty impressive. Pretty much the only games I've not been able to get working are either old 32-bit ones or they have some kind of kernel-level DRM/anticheat. And if you don't really care about games, the M4 Mac Mini is a retardedly powerful computer for its price.

I know I'm necrobumping a bit but considering the Spider-Man 2 game was literally about Peter getting cucked in his own game by Miles Morales as well as constantly getting emasculated by Manly Jaw Watson, Insomniac themselves confirmed that Miles will be the new and diverse "main" Spider-Man going forward in the next game, which means that Peter won't even be in his own fucking game when part 3 comes out. I'm sure they'll probably have him show up at the very end of the game just to rescue Miles and MJ from the villains only for Peter to get beat up and rescued by them instead since we can't have a straight white male superhero in anything anymore.
 
On the topic of green-screening PS5 Pros, the guy who originally posted about it on Twitter got flooded by ponies from reddit and decided to do a callout tweet calling the playstation community terrible.
