Speaking on-stage at CES, Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, said: "Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions are at the early stages of developing a film adaptation of the award-winning Horizon Zero Dawn. "Just imagine, Aloy's beloved origin story set in a vibrant, far future world filled with the giant machines, brought to you for the first time on the big screen."

During the same press conference, Sony announced a film adaptation of Helldivers 2 and an anime series adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima.

While PlayStation consoles has always been sold more on 3rd party games than 1st party, I don't think their first party line up was ever bad, until PS4 gen, where it was more a lack of games and even bigger lack of variety than they being outright bad.

Sony just don't have the dev team numbers to support a strong line up like they need with how long games take to make now, and was made even worse with Jim Ryan's ill fainted GAAS push. But there is a way out of it, they need to be more like Nintendo, where they are willing to get 3rd party devs to make games based on their IPs, Sony has done this in the past but is a very rare case thing. Most of Nintendo's 2023 line up were games they outsourced to 3rd party devs like Good Feel, Arc System Works, Grezzo, Acquire and Arika, if Nintendo did do that, they may have had 3 if that games for 2023.

It's kind of crazy Sony hasn't had a FPS title that wasn't MP only since 2013's Killzone Shadow Fall. While Killzone and Resistance are top shelve ips, sure they both would do well with a new game that has a modest budget, and sure would help bring variety to Sony's output. And if you look at PlayStation ips, full of cases like that, yet they really do anything.
 
Reminds me of that international women's day banner Sony put up that had the gross Horizon chick front and center and zoomed in on so you couldn't possibly miss her yet 2B and Kat where nowhere to be found.

They really really want this ugly slag no one likes to be the face of the company.

No one will care about this movie but you bet your ass I'm going to be hearing about this nonstop from the usual youtube grifters.
 
I'm hoping they are able to flush out a helldiver's movie that isn't an allegory and just shooting socialist scum robots. I really doubt it'll be good, but I like Helldivers 2 (now that I don't give a fuck that 170 countries were banned and refunded for no fucking reason, and they made the guns I like good again.)
