All of the player feedback to changes that are received negatively for years by the majority of the community have been [marked as offtopic] except that doesn't work to anyone without the attention span of a goldfish because we can see the comment graveyard and the 80 dislikes and 5 likes.
The difference is you finally ran out of fresh players to burn out and push away.

as far as I can recall he did hand over the keys or at least any administration of the server for ages prior to him leaving. I think the community ultimately died a slow death after a lot of the chiller admemes and GMs left and the administration tightened up the rules. Rippie Hippie.
This guy deleted the forum of one of the more populous ss13 servers and ss13 players love drama.
I'm just sad all those old ban appeals are gone they were a funny read from time to time.

Around the time the sethtide hit and Beestation was a thing TG and a bunch of other servers shifted from making the game for the people who actually fucking play it to attracting new fags and in the process they forgot why newfags were attracted to the game in the first place. We went from adding all these new cool and complex features to simplifying and dumbing down the game to the most brain dead retards on earth(examples being intent removal, smart wiring and piping, etcetera.)
TG is being built for people who don't like SS13 and have no intention of playing for more than a few months then going back to playing Marvel Cock Sucking simulator or whatever the current big generic slop is this week. Hell half your coders probably dont even play your server on a regular the other half are probably just pushing PRs upstream from the furry stripper and titty servers. Ya, you got servers using TG code topping the Byond charts sometimes but they last a max of a year before they explode and die, because none have long term players who actually enjoy the game. Then you look at the other servers, colonial marines, paradise, goon, they have held the same spot for years and years. Why? Because they have mostly kept to their roots and haven't simplified every fucking feature for new fags.
You can only pass so many 10 upvote 500 downvote PRs before people stop playing your fucking server. Ya sure, you run the server you can do a few, "Ehhh... People will get used to it I really like this and want it in." But when your doing that every couple months it fucks your playerbase retard.

the Sethtide being the reason for ss13's decline in quality has always felt like a huge cope to me. I didn't particularly notice a difference apart from a few more newer players. Granted I probably wasn't super active around that time but everyone seems to always seethe about the seethetide.

I was on hiatus from 13 during Ssethtide but I don't really see the connection with Sseth and the people I came back to having ruined Space Station. In fact they usually complain about how edgy Sseth is and how the video makes players think that comedy is okay, not realizing the harm that their jokes and griefing are doing to vulnerable women.

EDIT: Also no coders ever even played the game, and whenever they found out as a consequence of fucking around, couldn't handle it, so they nerfed the shit out of the thing that was used to dunk them, and the never played again. Get fucked /tg/ admins. 41% is too low, you all need to get an exile implant and go through the gateway to the xeno z-level. I wanna see 100% greentexts across the board for 'die a glorious death'.

So every interaction had to follow strict guidlines - because the freaks are all spergs as well, go figure - or you get banned.

Sethtide was only a stay of execution for SS13. I don't think it was meant to last for this long. The fact that Byond is ancient and only kept afloat by SS13 players funding it won't help it when something in the technology landscape inevitably changes that renders Byond unusable or at least too much of a security risk than it already is. If there were people that genuinely care about games like SS13 then they would make a successor with a completely original idea that captures what made SS13 great and avoid the pitfalls. All in a new engine that isn't hell to contribute to. SS13 is stuck in the past and no amount of fancy programming and updates to sprites will change that.
Its like when you have a pet that you know has an illness that will kill it, and the only thing keeping it alive is the fact that you won't let it go. You can postpone the inevitable, and spend tons of time and money treating the symptoms, or you can do the humane thing and let it pass on its own when its ready to, and enjoy the time you have left with it. I think the reason why SS13 communities are so rife with drama, is because its full of a bunch of maladapted autists that can't let it go because they've been playing it 6 hours a night for the past 5 years.
