I know a guy who's trying to start up a youtube channel with some super obscure games, maybe he'll be willing to post up recordings of some rounds. The game itself is way better than it was in Ye Olden Days when it looked like MS Paint sprites and had 1/4th of the content it does now.

Hello I was told that there was discussion of space station 13 history here and I have some pointers I would like to share regarding the history of Skyrat and how it was created if anyone was looking to dig into this server for your thread. Unfortunately I am not sure how much of this information has survived or really how much can be proved as this had been a long time ago in internet time.


I am sure you know Xyel (I think they now go as Captain Doge) was the host and original creator of the Skyrat server. But this all started on Citadel Station back when that was still a big thing. He played on the Polaris code second server and talked on the discord alot. He eventually took over this thing called the loreteam where they were in charge of all lore on both the servers. To join this team you would have to message him directly on discord and he would then add you to this lore team. This also allowed him to gate-keep who could change any of the lore and also got him connected with some citadel coders.


Eventually the staff and him got into many arguments and while some wanted the lore team to stay others wanted it to go. Eventually it was removed by the staff and anyone could make a pull request on a github branch for the wiki to make changes to the lore.


But Xyel was very upset by this and used the fact that he had discord direct messages with all these people to create another server and to take away players and github coders from Citadel. They first decided on a server using the Eris github codebase however a second split occurred but I am not entirely sure why.


The Eris codebase server actually continued under another host and was called Sojourn 13 who was ran by a person known as K5 (They have closed all their accounts and vanished). It had some success for a few years. But this server also had a long history of issues with underage players and the host K5 was banned from discord or deleted his discord accounts but this was debated at the time that it happened.


Xyel had meanwhile created the Skyrat server on the Citadel codebase downstream and I am sure you know what happened from here.
