Garth hates superheroes. He does dislike them or find them stupid, he hates them. It is actually hilarious how much a fictional media concept causes him to rage.

The funny thing is, several times he's shown that if he just got over himself, he would be a pretty good superhero writer. The Hitman issue he did where Superman feels guilty over not saving an astronaut is regarded as one of the best Superman stories written, and at no point does it treat Clark as a joke. Barracuda from his Punisher Max run was a comic book villain in a straight up crime drama. He's also shown he's capable of genuine heart in his various books.

But, he's too high on his own shit to ever lower himself to being genuine.

You forgot that the dog that got his asshole eaten was also doing porno films in the that story as his backstory.
I do like Ennis work, but as others have said, he work best on a lease.

Also, Crossed fucking sucks and is just downright nasty.

Oh, I remembered that, but it struck me as still being less unadulterated Ennis than the thing with the retarded kid.
Never read 303, is his Bush strawmanning in that more obnoxious than it is in The Boys?

I just came across a YouTuber almighty loli indigogo for his comic, I have conflicted thoughts about this and I feel this shit would have been written by some lefty Palestine tran flag person, but the guy taste and videos are the opposite, often talks about niche stuff and his fav manga being berserk. Isn't that most of his body of work, really? The Boys is his self-insert/Punisher lovechild killing superheroes and the president is a barely functional retard Bush stand-in.
Punisher Kills Marvel is Punisher doing what the title says even though he wouldn't have a shot against the majority of them.
Just a Pilgrim ends with the evangelical zealot realizing "Religion is evil!" and making a big rant out of it.

On the one hand, he's firmly anti-woke, anti-commie, anti-tranny, etc. Makes good videos and his streams are entertaining*.
On the other hand, he's also a nothing-ever-happens, optics cuck.
On the other, other hand, he's also a lolishit (duh) and vtuber defender, and is constantly seething at Null for criticizing the vtubers for catering to pedos, and some of them being if not pedos themselves, then at least really fucked up (his dumbest take IMO is "Even if he believes she's a pedo, Null shouldn't alienate *some vtuber whose name I don't remember* because she's talked positively about KF and her fans are also fans of Metokur, so he should leverage that for collabs and good exposure").

*Despite often streaming with a guy that, by association, calls himself Shota, and while he can be funny, will at the smallest provocation start shouting about CUNNNYYYYYY, which really makes me question why I even watch.

Anyway the comic is written by him, and drawn by some Italian artist he hired. The premise seemed interesting, with the listed inspirations and all that, but then he mentioned it's about a fucking Idol who dies and gets turned into a cyborg or something like that, and I lost interest completely.

You're definitely right about that.

I honestly can't think of a single other comics writer who has such incredible highs and subterranean lows. I don't think I've read any better crime/war dramas than his Punisher/Nick Fury MAX stuff.

Juxtapose that with his already mentioned low points and it points to one genuinely head-fucked SOB. I say that as someone who LIKES Just a Pilgrim even if I thought the ending was stupid as shit.

The usual reason for continuing a strip with a new cartoonist is to keep the profitable business or franchise going, preserving a number of jobs and allowing future generations to enjoy the work in a new form. Both the creator's relatives and the strip's syndicate stand to make significant money in royalties.

I didn't find it "the most disturbing evar" as it was hyped up to me but more annoying than anything. I don't think my eyes had rolled any harder with dolphin blow-hole fucking.

At least until I read The Boys this week.

I wound up (hate) reading the entirety of The Boys on some website since what little of the show I've seen was pretty okay and holy shit the cringe I felt reading it. You'd think it was written by a incel school shooter with anger issues. Still trying to process just how much I did not enjoy the comics other than it embodies all these tropes I hate from American comics.
