Spiders Are a Popular Video Game Monster. They're Also an Accessibility Problem

So all you have to do to keep screeching trannies and "games journalists" from playing your game is just put a fuckton of spiders in it? Developers take note!
Spiders, attractive women, guns, and cops are apparently all big no-nos.

So excuse me while I make a game about a cop rescuing attractive women from giant alien spiders using his trusty shotgun.

Seems to be a problem on other communities too.

Trypophobia images set me off, but I'm not going to demand someone changes a game to suit my individual needs. If the game is good enough I'll grin and bear it, if its not I'll just play something else.

To be fair that shit freaks any sane person out because it looks like disease, anyone with doubt google Trypophobia and prepare to be disgusted

Oh man, why would anyone be scared or cautious of spiders, it's not like they shoot web and have a venomous bite or anyth...

On second thought...

Those are harmless unless you're a small child and you'd basically have to go blindly jamming your idiot hand under lawn furniture in Australia to get one to bite you.

I'll give them props that this is at least a less retarded issue than I'm used to. Arachnophobia is rooted in our instinctual fear of anything that moves too fast, so it's not just "this game doesn't have enough gay people in it" or some bullshit. Still, what the fuck is next? Removing heights from a flight simulator? Removing the outdoors for agoraphobics? Removing tight spaces for claustrophobics? Removing heavy metal music from Doom because it's not Christian?
Here's a thought, if you can't play a video game because you're scared shitless of it, maybe you should seek help or—and this is gonna sound crazy—do something productive with your life instead of wasting away in front of a screen.

Subnautica, now with Thalassophobia Acessability Mode!

It quits the game.

I had a bit of arachnophobia, partially due to SimAnt-related trauma, but Quelaag and the Fair Maiden helped ameliorate it.

These days, you want to make it easier to play a game
Yes, that's exactly what people want.

That's why the Souls series is considered a massive failure and a stain on the legacy of video game development. And From Software, not learning their lesson made Sekiro, which bombed even harder and bankrupted them for good. And there was also that indie game, Cuphead, that didn't have a Game Journalist mode and barely sold any copies because of that.

No, what people really want is a Toggle Invincibility switch on the Options Menu so they can skip the unnecessary and boring "gameplay" parts of their movies so they can get faster to the lovingly rendered scene where Abby takes it up the butt.

I just kind of thought about this for a minute and came to the conclusion that someone must have done this already, somewhere.
I mean, sans the attractive woman that's basically the plot of EDF.
But you can play as the (japanese schoolgirl version of an: )attractive woman. EDF spiders always look mildly put out; as if they're doing a straight man part in a comedy and I just did something retarded.

There's already a difficulty option for people who are incredibly incompetent at games and don't want all that stressful "skill based gameplay" to get in the way of the story. It's called "watching a let's play on YouTube".

I like spiders. I just keep my distance in case of dangerous bites. Other than the risk of bites from poisonous spiders there is nothing to be afraid of. We have brown recluses around here. But the little jumping spiders and daddy long legs are harmless. Daddy long legs hunt dangerous spiders and are benificial.

A lot of games have spiders, deep water, gunshots, police sirens and any other thing that triggers precious snowflakes. Oh well, we can all laugh at the pointless accessibility options that an army of babbies demand but only a handful will use because those people don't play games much anyway.
