That's gonna be the question, Sri Lanka is just done for completely what's interesting is who gets to pick the pieces. So long as Chinese citizens and their investments are not the focus of violence, China likely won't step in to restore peace.
There are some mind boggling developments I've seen ads for at the Colombo international airport, when last touring the country a decade ago. Many were artificial islands for luxury apartments, no-doubt funded by Chinese investors. It didn't make sense that they wanted to build them in Ceylon of all places; people still live in mud huts over there.
Out of the two, becoming a little piece of China wouldn't be so bad of an outcome, compared to the Indian alternative. That's gonna be the question, Sri Lanka is just done for completely what's interesting is who gets to pick the pieces.
Does China just scoop up the rubble and turn it into Little-China or does India assert dominance and doesn't let the Chinese creep any further onto the middle east.
Whoever wins the Sri Lanka civilians loose
India occupation would be backed by the US tho so there would be cash coming from there and god knows this administration is more than happy to send the entire budget abroadOut of the two, becoming a little piece of China wouldn't be so bad of an outcome, compared to the Indian alternative.
From what I understand Sri Lanka has close ties with China now, meaning if anything it gives room for India to assert more influence. However it plays out, I suspect it’ll worsen ties between India and China.Out of the two, becoming a little piece of China wouldn't be so bad of an outcome, compared to the Indian alternative.
India has been getting pissed at China for menacing to cut one of their major water supplies by building dams on top of general Chinese assholery like marching troops on the skirts of their borders with other countries and announcing plans to take more ground around India would probably motivate them to scoop Sri Lanka since they have the proximity and cultural roots advantageFrom what I understand Sri Lanka has close ties with China now, meaning if anything it gives room for India to assert more influence. Well I would guess that all of the Tamil Tigers who they didn't kill are looking at this as a golden opportunity to start up some shit again.Anyone wanna bet if this "Sri Lanka Collapse" thread will become a "2nd Sri Lanka Civil War" thread?
Fookin 'ell, I'll bid $50 USD. I might be able to find SciFi god Arthur C. Clarke's dirty laundry in Colombo (or at least the remains of the kids he likely diddled)...Alright who wants to buy Sri Lanka? I bid $10.
Just remember buying something sometimes sticks you with its debt.Alright who wants to buy Sri Lanka? I bid $10.
