its not really close to rimworldI'm yet to watch the video (a new Sseth is worthy of full undivided attention) but I've been eyeing the game for over a year now.
The only thing keeping me back so far has been "why not just play the real Rimworld? it's not like it'll ever run out of content". I'm not a member of the CPC so I don't have to feign interest in Chinese lore. Granted I might be fully wrong, maybe it is a better game than Rimworld or even if not just good enough to warrant playing over the Nth playthrough of Tynan's game. I'm just reluctant given the characteristics that tend to separate Chinese games from Western ones, and the fact that this game seems to unashamedly embrace those stereotypes (well, aside from mobile game monetization).
Who am I kidding. I'll buy it off the GoG sale as soon as I finish the video.
It's the time intensiveness of the editing that stops him. For example Mandalore does all his own editing and says he enjoys it. Civvie hands his gameplays off to Katie complete with recorded lines and cues for jokes, honk honk. Sseth does everything by himself.Sseth is great, wish he would upload more.
Tech as advanced enough that pretty much anywhere a person with talent can make something, the problem for the longest time has been trying to have a market place where you could actually put the product up that people would see worldwide and then translate into a language that many people speak, usually English as the most widely spoken. Steam allowing more Asian titles has seen the rise of indies from other countries and even flowed on into stuff like Geshin. They also tend to be outside of SJW control, at least for now because being an American and yelling at Asian devs on twitter won't break that cultural barrier no matter how much they yell. That game actually made a good reason I do want to see more countries with indie game industries.
My love for ACE Team if limitless. They have different sensibilities and even made an Actraiser 1!That game actually made a good reason I do want to see more countries with indie game industries.
What the fuck, Valhalla Cyberpunk bartending Simulator was made entirely with the last money the Venezuelan government had before poverty and chaos set in and somehow a rando and his autism simulator bankrolled by the CCP and it's legalized slave labor is now a video game darling? That game actually made a good reason I do want to see more countries with indie game industries. If a western game dev tried something like that, it would either only take one aspect to make the game out of because it's so foreign to them (Feng Shui) or not make it at all so as not to seem racist. This was just the most absurdly Chinese game ever and it was delightful to see. Makes me want to see what other countries could pull off with a thriving indie game scene that a western dev would never even consider just because their worldview isn't anything like that.
It's interesting though that some other developed countries in the east aren't really making indie games and just pumping out terrible mmo crap. A certain country, I won't name names...
Yeah I figured that while watching the video. Still looks similiar on the surface, though I guess Rimworld copied its art style from Prison Architect too so who cares.its not really close to rimworld
