I value STO more as an entry into the series than anything post-ENT, so I really shouldn't let this bother me.

But holy fuck does Academy look like hot liquid ass. What the fuck IS this?

Saving grace for STO is it being in separate reality from the Prime and Kelvin realities.

Pertinent STO news is Arc Cryptic had just bought themselves out from the Embracer group. So the only corpo overlords STO haves now is just Paramount/CBS.

It's kinda sad how the Kelvin stuff is borderline inaccessible in the game these days, I haven't seen anything from JJ trek (besides the Vengeance) in like 6 years.

I really don't like how certain things get locked away and blown out in price.

If you want to get a T6 TOS Constitution you need to spend like 300 bucks fucking around on the exchange or buying the 10th anniversary pack that doesn't even have a release schedule, it just randomly pops up like 3 times a year for a week. That kind of shit just pisses me off. It should never be that much of a hassle to get a non dogshit version of the most iconic ship in the series.

I'm on STO PS4 version and the Kelvin stuff is still readily accessible. Still see mostly Vengeance everywhere but the Kelvin Connie, Jellyfish, USS Kelvin herself and USS Franklin I see somewhat often. The Kelvin Klingon and Ronnie ships however I barely ever see those.

Iirc the problem is or was with Bad Robot and JarJar on the licensing for the Kelvin stuff. Hence the main reason STO still haven't gotten the the rest of the Kelvin ship and shuttle roster.

I'd have liked to see the actual USS Kelvin uniforms, like the ones that we see Thor Kirk and crew wearing at the start of 09'.

They were so.... funky looking. Like a halfway point between ENT and Cage uniforms but with the big ass belts from the TOS movies.

I am happy there's now an affordable TMP Connie, since the Shangri-la can use the TMP Connie bits. I do agree that it's utter bullshit the TOS Connie is so inaccessible you have to either pick it for your Event Campaign reward or get lucky playing Exchange PvP.

As far as the Kelvin stuff goes, I remember even back when it was new that the Vengie was the ship just about everyone wanted. I rarely saw the Rom and Klink stuff back then, and now seeing them is like seeing a unicorn.

Probably should reinstall, Winter Event's going to be soon.

I would, it's still quite fun. The atrocious economy hasn't stopped me from enjoying it so far.


Per the TOS Connie, I think the best way to get it at the moment is to just buy the Shangri-La (which comes with the TMP skin anyway) and then buy the 10th anniversary bundle as that also gives the Shangri the TOS parts as well from the legendary ship version. The real pain in the asshole is waiting for the 10th pack to actually show up and buying it before it fucks off into the either for another 8 months.
 
Tonight on Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Klingon cadet K'hasey has scheduled two dates with his classmates B'et'E and Veronica for the annual Starfleet Academy Space Prom at the same time, and it's tomorrow night! How will he keep both dates while keeping the girls from finding out about each other?!?

Taking bets on how much they'll subvert Trek norms. That Klingon will reject the 'toxic masculinity' of Klingon culture in favor of the cosmopolitanism of the Federation. There will be a Ferengi cadet who rejects capitalism. There will be a Vulcan cadet who dabbles in stand-up comedy. We'll probably see background cadets who are Cardassian, Romulan, Breen, and other 'villain' species all breaking the mold by joining Starfleet.

And would you be able to tell that it wasn't one of those shows? The klingon is the only slight clue.
