SNW is now this. What an awful trailer and I say that as someone who enjoys the show.
This is TNG Season 7 levels of running out of ideas
That has to be the dumbest thing I have ever read, I’ve never watched Discovery but that show really is cancer.
Just imagine people who never watched Discovery trying to guess what caused all the dilithium in the galaxy to blow up at once.

Hell, I actually like Discovery, but even I think the explanation of what caused the Burn was just stupid.
"oh no what will we do in a galaxy with 400 billion stars and unlimited resources?"
The Bajorans were able to travel through space using solar-powered ships made with wood before warp travel was invented. Sisko was able to take one to travel from Deep Space Nine to Cardassian space in his spare time.

Alternatively, use normal fusion reactors for the warp plasma. Sure, you gonna top out at Warp 6 or so, but quantum slipstream is a thing as well and that shit doesn't require dilithium either. The Burn is just retarded in-universe. If they wanted to do something that actually made sense with the lore, bring back "warp travel damages subspace"-thing they mentioned in TNG. Or have some asshole-faction in the early 3100s deploy Omega liberally in a war.

Don't forget wormholes.

Before I read the article I thought it might have something to do with a trade embargo, or some nefarious group spiking strategic supplies, maybe even some newfound environmental impact that had just been discovered with dilithium use, you know, something Star Trek-y.

Nope, sad psychic girl has a tizzy and everything goes boom. Cannot believe people got paid to write this shit.

you don't even need that, iirc romulans are using mini singularities or something, so the MUH DILITHIUM story was always retarded.

that's before even considering shit like the spacefold voyager found, borg transwarp (and whatever their ships use) and in theory they could just ask the traveller.

Again, Discovery keeps getting stuff backwards.

Like the stupid spore drive would at least be excusable if they did it AFTER the burn. Like.... "well fuck it, we need some way to travel. Let's do mushrooms."

If they at least established it was something Kelpians could do (think how the Vulcan Mind Meld played a part in Spock's resurrection), I'd get it, but they just gave one kid the power to blow up nearly all the dilithium in the universe.

I felt someone on the writing team either watched or known about Tenchi Muyo when they're writing that episode. Personally the ship never bothered me as it was just a plot device so Sisko and Jake can do family bonding over building it.

In a few weeks Universal Studios is doing some fan nights thing with a tng/ds9 themed area including the bridge from Picard s3 for some type of immersive event. So at least the people outside Paramount know where to spend their money on licensing. Imagine being Universal and licensing std garbage and throwing money away.

There's also going to be a "Quark's Cafe" and a 10-forward area that will probably just be normal seating areas with starfleet napkins, but it might exceed expectations.

Expensive but potentially worth it for cali-kiwis with money to burn.

if this is like the Star Trek Experience in Vegas it'll be pretty cool
that's really a hell of a thing to walk out onto the bridge of the D

So why didn't they?
Different writing room.

Always wondered if the Q Continuum from "Death Wish" inspired the astral diner in SG-1—both just eternal limbos where godlike beings sit around doing absolutely nothing because they’ve run out of things to say.

The Stargate shows ripped off a lot of episodes from Trek. (I say that as I like both franchises)

SNW was always shit. It's Kurtzman Trek.

Discovery's fighter drones is yet another thing they stole from Andromeda.
I doubt that they watched Andromeda. They probably stole this from BSG.

Bajor's situation is comparable to that of occupied WW2-era France, Greece and Yugoslavia.
Lesser races frothing at the mouth and rebelling against their betters, I agree.

The occupation didn't kill enough Bajorans it wasn't six fifteen million more like 270k 500k and mostly due to disease.
