Just finished watching Deep Space Nine S02E14 'Whispers' and I have to give the episode props for a couple things.
I've already hit the point with DS9 (as I do with most shows, movies, and videogames pretty quickly) where as soon as the central conflict of an episode becomes apparent, I generally already know what the twist will be and how the episode will resolve.
'Whispers' threw me for a loop and I was on completely the wrong track for how it would resolve (I latched onto O'Brien telling Sisko about the weird pheromones the Paratus secrete: thats a red herring). Even when I was convinced I knew what was up, I wasn't sure if it was "real" or "all in O'Brien's head".
So, points for successfully misdirecting me, points for being able to toe the line of what's real and what's not, and also points for having the episode end the way it did with some feels.
Also also, shout out to the previous episode ("Armageddon Game") when Quark gives a typically Ferengi money-obsessed eulogy, and yet somehow while quoting the Rules Of Acquisition he manages to actually say something pretty nice.
