Watto also had a giant Jew nose. I don't know if it was on purpose but he was an alien Happy Merchant so blatant it was ridiculous.

Admittedly George Lucas isn't known for his ability to be subtle.

Supposedly during the development of The Force Unleashed he legit suggested the name "Darth Insanus" for one of the villains. Along with two other hilarious ones but this is a Star Trek thread so I'm gonna try to keep it limited just to that factoid.

I mostly agree but must confess, is every cheapskate with a harsh voice a Jew in reality? Because that's all those characters really are in most fiction.

Like Christ, I'm a cheap fucking bastard and my throat sounds like a bag of hammers being tosssed around on a gravel road. Should I convert?
Once upon a time they were Scottish.

Requiescat in pace, Dorothy Fontana...

Vorta are Lawyer members of the tribe
More like Dispensationalists, given their effectively religious adoration of the Changelings.

Oh god. Look, I know Gene was a commie sympathizer and everything, but the Jewish themes throughout Hollywood and indeed Star Trek as well are probably just that; Jewish themes. I mean every fucking holiday of theirs is about being alone in the dark or escaping from something or even that really fucked up one where everyone committed suicide (Masada, I believe. Shit, even that got namedropped in Doomsday Machine, where a guy actually kills himself too. Might be a coincidence though.)
Jewish holidays (Passover, Purim, Hannukah, etc) often seem to revolve around celebrating the mass slaughter of non-Jews as much as anything else. 🤔

Point is, its not surprising to me that people raised around those sorts of stories would lean more towards a collectivist angle than a libertarian one. I know there are actual Cultural Marxists floating around out there, but they're crackpots. I could run a better fucking conspiracy from my house than they can; they can barely conspire to tie their shoes. Let's try not to let this thread go full William S. Lind.
It's hard to maintain group cohesion as a voluntary minority in the midst of a larger nation that can't be bothered to persecute you on a regular basis. Little Jacob and Rachel gotta have it beaten into their heads that their Gentile friends and neighbours could kick off a Fourth Reich on a moment's notice, or they might not grow up caring about this whole "being Jewish" thing.

DS9 is actually my favourite ideration of Star Trek for this exact reason actually. Even when I was watching Star Trek as wee lad, I thought the Federation's structure and morality was far too idealistic to be pragmatic. The Cardassians, and later the Dominon, are EXACTLY how I imagined a space faring society would be structured.
I like the part where Cardassian chicks get more turned on the more you argue with them.

Seasons 3 - 6 are fantastic because it just consistantly shows two poorly structured societies (the Marxist Federation and Fuedal Klingons) getting the shit beaten out of them by two highly efficient and ruthless alien empires (the Cardassians and Dominion).
I dunno... one gets the sense that the Klingons are far more observant and savvy than their Proud Warrior Race image would suggest. They do appear to have a phenomenally effective intelligence service, after all.

I heard Bad Robot and Paramount's deal ended in July of this year. Is this true?

Also, apologies for double posting, but the rights to Star Trek are now back under one roof thanks to the re-merger of Paramount and CBS. Now were just have see Kurtzman out of here.

Isn't there still a bunch of paperwork and shit to fill out related to this? I'd ask AnOminous for advice here but this stuff is so cloaked behind NDAs I'm not sure even he'd have much to tell us on it.

Either way, I wouldn't expect much to change for at least another year or two. Probably longer.

The source I found this at is from a midnight's edge video right here.

TLDR: Noah Hawley, the creator of MGM's Fargo series on FX, has been hired by Paramount to direct the forth film in the Kelvin timeline series. The forth film has been plagued by script rewrites and budget disputes. Even though Bad Robot might likely still be involved with it, the re-merger makes it more complicated since the rights are back under one roof.

Because CBS and Viacom were corporate siblings under Sumner (the creator of Viacom who bought CBS in 1999 and split them in 2006) and Shari Redstone, the merger between the two didn't take as long as others such as ATT/Warner Bros, Disney/20th Century Fox (Fox and Fox News Channels weren't allowed to be bought by Disney), and Comcast/NBCUniversal.

Just be a little careful with this guy because he's been screaming about the Trek-reckoning for awhile now and while his presentation and editing are excellent, so far nothing much has materialized from what he's had to say. Its possible he's really just that far ahead of the wave but after the first few videos and nothing happening I went into full Meh Mode.

I do too brother.

The more that Star Trek features Klingons, the more they attempt to nuance them. They do this in a way that satisfies casual viewers who enjoy their warrior aliens, while also satisfying faggots who enjoy digging deeper into lore and understanding how alien cultures function.

I do like the idea of the Klingons being a race the coincidentally aquired space travek technology. At some point in DS9, Star Trek made it cannon that the Klingon home planet Kronos was raided by an alien species from the Delta Quadrant, and in my head cannon, I like to imagine that the Klingons acquired space faring technology by studying the scraps the raiders left behind. It's the only way I can imagine a warrior race with an aversion to academics could become so technologically advanced.

Generally speaking, I think the Prime Directive being a sacred oath is retarded. However it's cases like this where the Prime Directive's intetions makes sense. Had the Klingons not have been interacted with by alien species, they likely never would have developed advanced technology, and would explain why their government is structured like a pre-industrial society. Clearly, the Klingons were not ready for space travel, however after being incidentally given the tools for discovery, they created a galactic feudal empire that was completely unlike any of their space neighbours.

Doesn't matter. Under the unified movie theory, the next Trek film will be odd numbered, therefore destined to suck.

I don't know if it's true but someone on /tv/ has shared some info on the current script for the 4th Bad Robot Trek movie:

Yeah, I like the channel but they jump to the conclusion way too fast. Doomcock is also falling into that trap by not asking his "sources" for proof.

Fuck you. Star Trek 3 is great, and I also like TMP. Fite me bastard.

That's actually beta canon.

Pressing F for DC Fontana.

It was mentioned in a DS9 episode (Sword of Khaless, no less) they were literally conquered by Space Mongolia, known as the "Hur'q" which has to be the most embarassing name for a species to be conquered by.

I think its supposed to be yet another parallel with Space Russia, but yeah, logically it can be inferred they used the technology of the Hur'q to create their empire.

Considering it's the current year, the whole "Space-Russia" thing makes my skull hungry for lead.

I'm guessing that in Star Trek: Picard, Martok will die and be replaced by Klingon Putin (Puk'ten). Puk'ten will subvert Federation freedom and democracy through fake space-news and will lead to space-Trump (a Ferengi named Trauhmp) being elected as the head of the federation.

Picard is fundamentally different now that he is dying from space-Alzheimers, he will fall for the fake news (because he's a white male boomer) and demand that Earth leave the federation and erect a great Dyson-Sphere around our solar system. The Federation is crippled by Earth's exit (Earthxit?), and the Romulans and Klingons invade the remaining member of the Federation.

Picard will learn the error of his ways, and accept he's not fit to lead anymore. A new character, a strong, crippled, dark skinned, lesbian will carry the torch that Picard dropped and return the Federation to glory.

I would continue, but it's difficult to type with my keyboard soaked in puke and my eyes swollen with tears.

Well, all of that was better written than anything Kurtzman can come up with, so my money's on the actual script and plot being even more dull and boring than that.

I believe @TaimuRadiu was referring to the bit about the Klingons reverse-engineering their space tech from their former conquerers as being beta canon, not the actual being conquered part.

Yeah but my point was while it was never explicitly said so on screen, its pretty much all but presumed.

Bigger question is why the fuck the Hur'q left and then suddenly died off atogether for no explained reason. Did they get like horrible Klingon AIDS or something or did the Dominion show up and kill them all?

Maybe they were all deathly allergic to water bloodwine.

I mean, would you want to try and rule the klingons? You know it would just be endless headaches and pains in the ass.

The bigger question might be why they didn't just nuke the planet from orbit.

This would be the best origin story of the Klingons ever. Say they did nuke them from orbit, and the Klingons survived. No wonder everything in their society is so ugly and miserable and their homeworld looks like a Bad Future from Captain Planet.
