I hate to be the guy who says this but;
Nu-trek wasn't made for people like us. We are not the target audience.
Do you think TNG, if it premiered today as it was then, would last more then 4 or 5 episodes before being shit canned?
They're after a whole different audience, it the same as Star Wars. We're not the fans they're looking for. If we choose to watch it because it's labeled as Star Trek well great but it's the new generation they're aiming these shows at. But these high stake action scenes, flashy lights and gritty dark plotting are what's in demand.
The style of old trek is never coming back because there is no demand for those type of shows and...that's ok. Things change, things adapt to new cultural mores and standards. It's an eternal truth.
I'll say what I said to my Star Wars bro's. It's over yes...but they can't take the joy you get from the old stuff away. If you want to enjoy some true ST or SW just slap in a DVD and enjoy away.
Just accept that it's over and enjoy the memories is my advice , don't go seeking to re-create those old feeling again.
Now if you don't mind I got to go get my Q on, all this talk has got me all worked up and I need a fix.
