Okay boys and girls I did it. After two full days of actually really looking online I found some not-fucked options for the 2016 version of the Encyclopedia. I managed to find it in a store for sending things to prison inmates which conveniently also sends to people outside of prison. Books-A-Million seems to have copies though they only ship within the US, and other than that its a few random stores spread throughout Europe. This is probably a huge waste of money but I am real excited.

What did you do?

I know those worms infesting some Trill call themselves "Symbionts," implying some sort of symbiotic relationship, but I've always thought they were more akin to parasites.

It's clearly the worm doing most of the driving, even if they take on a lot of the personality of their host. Jadzia didn't kiss that one lady because Jadzia is a lesbo, she kissed her because the worm in her gut was married to the worm in the other lady's gut several lives earlier.

Only "the best" Trill get to be infested, presumably because there are so few worms to go around... and fair enough. But what if you're an awesome Trill and you get stuck with a loser Symbiont? Think about it, it's not like the worms are *only* sending their best in return, so they can't all be winners.

Also, and this is the most damning, if you pull the worm out of a Trill, the Trill dies almost immediately, but the worm lives on. This doen't sound like a 50/50 partnership to me.
What if the Trill are actually the sequel to "invasion of the body snatchers"? Now we see what happens when they win and take over.

There's a DS9 episode where Dax worm is removed and Jadzia spends the whole episode blubbering and feeling empty. So at least Jadzia wasn't inside the whole time screaming while the worm controlled her like a brain slug.

IICR, not all trills are fit to have a symbiont, so it's not like they can't live fulfilling lives without them.

They said in one of the episodes of DS9 like 50% of the population is fit to have one but there aren't enough to go around.

Also, I remember reading how DS9 got a lot of shit because Ferengis are apparently every bad Jewish stereotype... Literally every actor who plays a Ferengi is Jewish except for Andrea Martin (Quark and Rom's mother, Ishka.). I just found that terribly ironic.

They are just jealous that Ferengi are the chads of Star trek.

Someone once said that Ferengis represent how people see Jews, while Bajorans is how they see themselves.

Tbf it was to save money on makeup

Armin Shimmerman is magnificent tho, and if it wasn't for the unusually talented cast of DS9 he'd have stolen the entire show. The writers were smart enough to turn a race of unintentionally comedic buttheads who failed their audition to be TNG bad guys and give them wit and pathos. If the Ferengi are Space Jews, it's really not a bad way to be stereotyped.

Humans used to be a lot worse than the Ferengi: slavery, concentration camps, interstellar wars. We have nothing in our past that approaches that kind of barbarism. You see? We're nothing like you... we're better.

Am I the only one who liked the Ro and Riker paring?

The TNG episode where everyone's memory get wiped is one of my favorites.

The closing scene always made me chuckle... knowing what Riker had to be thinking.

Any scene with any of the Ferengi cast or Garrick always stole the spotlight. Too many heavy hitter actors having massive fun hamming it up.

I will give DS9s writers credit for not spamming Ferengi episodes nor throwing Garrack into shit he didn't belong in to boost ratings. It made those two or three episodes per season treats and not just more scholck.

My favorite TNG episode is Parallels, even if it does spark off the Worf / Troi shipping that was thankfully memory-holed.
Love seeing the alt-Enterprise and this moment:

The Worf / Troi thing always struck me as right the fuck out of left field. I know Sirtis and Frakes were against it from the start. Sirtis said it turned Worf into a total pussy. IIRC besides Rick Berman, Michael Dorn was the only one for it.

TNG, DS9 and Voyager all have weird end-of-series romances that make no sense.
I’m still kinda bummed the Doctor never had a chance with Seven. At least that was kinda built up a bit as opposed to what we got. Also because I really like he character.

I like science vessels.
My favorite is the Nova Class. It's the same basic model as Voyager but ~50% scale. It has 8 decks and a crew of less than 100 so it's nice and cozy. I'd like to be a nice cozy lieutenant working on a Nova Class ship as a science officer. We'd follow up on planets recorded by Exploration ships, once they had scouted it for safety and weird plot contrivances. I'd just study geology and atmospherics and maybe collect some bugs and then head back to a starbase where i show my friend on the holodeck my weird obsession with the game snooker.

TNG: Worf/Troi (thankfully) did not even last to the end of the show. I agree, that was a shitty pairing and it made no sense.
DS9: I'm assuming you're talking about Bashir/(Ezri) Dax? I have no problem with this one. Julian clearly wanted Dax from the beginning, and I totally believe that the Dax worm was influenced enough by the younger/dumber Ezri host to finally get with him.
VOY: I'm assuming you mean Seven/Chacotay? Yeah, that was kind of dumb and I agree it made no sense. But that barely had an impact on anything. Nothing ever came of it, and Seven is apparently a lesbo now in Picard.

As if Picard is considered canon by anyone lol.

DS9 for White Devil it's not my fault if you click this
That and also Dukat and Kai Winn which is a "romance" which I thought detracted from the main arc and was so extremely predictable (and gross!)
VOY: I'm assuming you mean Seven/Chacotay?
In the Voyager finale they reveal the doctor and his new wife.. who looks not unlike seven.

I guess Robert Beltran's middle age crises must have been acting up.

You would learn to play it safe.

And you'll never, EVER, get noticed by anyone.
