I miss when Star Trek was written by actual people who had been in the military. That's part of what made the Starfleet of TOS so believable.
Hey at least they haven't run a "sexual harassment in Starfleet" arc given that's probably the extent of what the writers know about the military.

You would think in star trek universe, they are all already aware of genderspecials, since you know, we have them currently.
If star trek REALLY wants to be ahead of its time they should introduce a transracial character. It could be a white woman who has all of Keiko's interests, or a white dude who just has Chakotay's old script. They don't even have to write new stuff for these people.
All this tells me is that in-universe, they found a cure for The Gay somewhere between 2258 and 2364.

See, folks? This is what happens when you try to retcon too much shit.

Imagine a mandatory Starfleet SHARP presentation. In the season one TNG uniforms.
Speaking of season 1 TNG uniforms...

I wonder how badly the last decade or so, damaged the Star Trek brand in general. Does it need a rest before somebody could take it up and start doing it properly again?
I guess an upside of STD, Pickard etc. that they are so bad, nobody really cares about them.

Idk man. I didn't like the new Star Warses either, but I did like the Kylo Ren quote "let the past die, kill it if you have to". I think there's more truth to that than whatever hack fraud who wrote it realizes.

Unless the writers can think of something new or at least interesting to say about Star Trek, the only reason to make more Star Trek is nerdbux. Sure, the entertainment business is a business run by the Ferengi who control the media and that's ok, but if there's no creativity in the creative process it's all ultimately meaningless and unsatisfying, like a JJ Abrams movie.

Like all the other unnecessary sequels and remakes of everything from The Terminator to The Witches, thousands of smart talented people spending years of their lives to make pointless garbage consumed by morons.

The Battlestar Galactica reboot was actually pretty cool until the writers ran out of good ideas and started making everybody a secret Cylon, so it's not impossible Star Trek could be redeemed somehow. But maybe it shouldn't be? Science Fiction feels like a kind of zombie genre now, endlessly riffing on and remonetizing the past, which is the exact opposite of what sci-fi should be.

Insulting the Ferengi with this part as even at their worst the Ferengi understood you don't fuck and cook the golden geese or make targ food out of the cash cows. As wealth destruction is absolutely haram to them.

This kind of idiocy is why I desperately do NOT want any adaptation of David Weber's Honor Harrington series.

Because dear God, these people are fucking incompetents and no, I would not trust them even with a stronk wimmen character*.

* they'd hate her anyways for being cisfemale, heterosexual, and preferring to beat her enemies to death with her bare hands or shoot them in the face rather than crying about it.

As I'm rewatching season seven of TNG I can't help thinking how many "What were they thinking episodes" this season had.

Oh god, I didn't even get to the Crusher gets fucked by a ghost episode yet, S7 really is fucking nuts.

I think I'll rewatch Voyager after that, I haven't rewatched that one in so long. I usually just end up rewatching Deep Space Nine over and over.

The recent developments have made want to watch Voyager as it's really the last Trek that still felt like Trek to me. Sorry Enterprise you don't look and feel like Trek it's just... off. And most of your cast bores me.

Which episodes? because there are a few episodes in S7 that I quite like
The thing with S7 is had mix of really good ones and really stupid ones.

The Descent for instance, or Gambit. Altho I thought Gambit was enjoyable up until the end.

The Data dream one. It's a fun episode and I like saying a cellular peptide cake with mint frosting as much as the next guy, but you still have to say, omg what were they thinking?

Chuck likes to call season 7 "the season we ran out of ideas."

Latest STD has a character randomly "come out" as "non-binary."

STUNNING AND FUCKING BRAVE
'memba when they made up scifi parallels for real world issues instead of just forcing a 2020 twitter bio problem 200 years into the future without the tiniest bit of nuance or adjustment? This was a "tell me about your sexual organs" moment if I've ever seen one.
