Star Wars Expanded Universe Fans/Cultists - I HOPE YOU LIKE STAR WARS AUTISM

EDIT: nvm, my bad. I.H.B.T. H.A.N.D.

But anyhow,
Some of that EU stuff had to go. Some of it was THIS level of corny.

check out that Bucky O'hare motherfucker on the right. HE WAS ONE OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS FOR AWHILE! He was treated as equally important a character as Han Solo for a couple years.

I think the purge should continue until only the first and second movies are the only ones left and considered canon.
That Luke drawing looks eerily familiar... Where have I see that character before...?

I was always amused at the whole clone trooper thing.

"So, uh, Master Yoda, I kinda found an army. Of clones. Of the guy who tried to murder the Senator. They're all children in terms of age, but they're totally cool with murder and such, so that's swell. And apparently we're the ones who commissioned their creation. Well, not us, but this one Jedi who never told anyone anything about this, and then died under mysterious circumstances. But, uh, yeah, they're apparently totally ours and totally trustworthy, even though the guy who they're all cloned from literally just tried to murder me like half an hour ago."

"Legit, this sounds."

The Jedi were sorta asking for it.

Could Traviss get her own thread? Perhaps if the Clone Wars blowup were more recent. I went on a vacation and, deciding that I wanted to get into the EU, and liking the conceopt of the clones, picked up the Republic Commando series. The first chapter in Hard Contact has the mary-Sue jedi being threatened with hillbilly rape. I actually made it to the end of Triple-Zero before giving up, the Mary-Sue Jedi getting pregnant from a clone was the last straw for me.

Oddly enough, I liked the Halo books she wrote. Still had the obvious self-insert and her personal biases were very obvious
Hallsey is treated like a war criminal who has basically become a slave working in the bowels of infinity and cries herself to sleep every night
, but it was still a decent spy story and I think she handeled the side story of a Spartan 2 meeting a parent fairly well.

I got the feeling that she was working under more limitations/constraints with these books, though. From my own conversations with a franchise/novelization author, I know they typically work with a handler and have limitations on what they can/can't write about to avoid movie/game spoilers, and can have scenarios that must be worked into the story, but franchises like SW are pretty much anything goes from what I hear.

From what I've researched, the Halo EU community doesn't really have a positive opinion on Traviss either. Especially on her portrayed of Halsey.

In regard to Traviss' getting her own thread...well...she would need to have some more recent meltdowns to justify an entire thread about her imo. Most of the her Clone Wars meltdowns were on Star Wars boards that have long been deleted and weren't archived well. Her "you're a neo-nazi if you support Jedi" blog article is probably one of the last easily-found relics you can find of her Star Wars days. She barely has an Internet presence nowadays. We've already covered most of the angles of how much of a cunt she is in this thread....do we really need another? :P

I did find something else though. A video of people in Mando/Clone cosplay dancing for Traviss. Make of this what you will.

A thread on Fandalorians in general and their antics might work better. They're still sperging out, even without Traviss.

Those comics also had the time Lando dressed up as Captain Harlock for a while because why not.
Must've missed those issues....but that sounds weirdly awesome. Like taking something awesome (Lando) and adding something even more awesome (Harlock).
Now I'm picturing Miime getting wasted on Colt 45.

.....nah.
Still not enough to make up for the Bucky O'Hare Knockoff.
That was some Jar-Jar levels of fail back then.

Oh, shit. I just found the version of Lando dcisp is talking about....
...and it is fucking lame.

Holy shit...what was Marvel on when they made these?

I have mixed feelings on the EU. On one hand, works of concentrated amazing like Dark Forces and fucking TIE Fighter, and the fuck-awesome Dark Empire saga. On the other, the entire Ssi-Ruuk arc and similar faggotry. Most of it's hit or miss, with the good stuff being amazing and the bad stuff making me want to punch people. It's really quite analogous to WH40K's Black Library, where you have the good (Dan Abnett) and the utter shit (CS Goto).

Even the stuff that's decent fucking can pinball. The CGI Clone Wars series pinballs between obnoxiously awful fail and some surprisingly well-done episodes with some pretty amazing ideas put to paper. I'm not quite so bummed out about them ripping out all the EU stuff, but I do wonder what the hell they intend to do with characters whose EU stuff was loaded with establishing crap if they intend to use them in the new movies.

Also Boba Fett is shit-tier Mandalorian. He began his career in the Star Wars Christmas Special, solidifying his role as the worst Mandalorian in history. Pre Vizsla was more of a badass than Boba Fett ever was, and he got BTFO by Darth Maul. Fett has no excuse.

I feel like I'm the only Star Wars fan that hates CGI Clone Wars. I'm sorry, but the 2009 Clone Wars movie turned me away from giving the CGI series a chance. It was just pure shit. Yes, 2003 Clone Wars short series fanboy here.

Dude, I'm a 2003 fanboy too, but give the CGI series a chance. None of us are going to defend the movie...it was shit. The CGI series has a lot of hit and misses, but Season 2 & 4 have some great arcs.

You know that's just stupid. at the risk of sounding like the people this thread has bitched about the 2003 Clone Wars was one of the most enjoyable eu spin offs as well as just being really easy to fit with the canon.

Also I thought anything with the Lucas touch was in canon still. For all the ill that bodes

Holy shit...what was Marvel on when they made these?

A very permissive contract and a very small budget. Couldn't afford A-list writers/artists. Shit, probably Micronauts and Rom got better creative teams and more deft editorial oversight than the Marvel's Star Wars. Why they didn't just hand writing duties over to Alan Dean Foster, I'll never know.
Then again, tie-in comics back then were always lo-budget and shitty (except the ones that were straight adaptations rather than "expansions"; every franchises "EU" back then was kinda shitty. Case in point: the animated Star Trek series throws the doofiest aspects of the original series into sharper relief.)
I think tie-in comics only started getting good when Dark Horse showed folks how to do it. They made Predator comics that were good enough that the first Predator sequel looks like an homage to the comic; and their take on the Aliens franchise is much better than movies 3, 4, 5 and 6. In fact, the shitty Aliens vs. Predator sub-franchise only existed because an inept movie studio wanted to capture the lightning-in-a-bottle of the Dark Horse originals.

Also I thought anything with the Lucas touch was in canon still. For all the ill that bodes
Yeah, "G-Canon".
So Jar-Jar is 125% legit and Dark Empire isn't.

EDIT: For those who haven't heard of G-Canon....
Official policy up until Disney wiped the slate clean for everyone.

The Holocron is divided into five levels (in order of precedence): G-canon, T-canon, C-canon, S-canon, and N-canon.

G-canon is George Lucas canon: Considered absolute canon, it includes Episodes I–VI (the most recently released versions) and the upcoming Episodes VII–IX feature films, the animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and any statements by George Lucas (including unpublished production notes from him or his production department that are never seen by the public). Elements originating with Lucas in the scripts, filmed deleted scenes, movie novelizations, reference books, radio plays, and other primary sources are also G-canon when not in contradiction with the released films. G-canon overrides the lower levels of canon when there is a contradiction.

T-canon is Television canon:[6] refers to the canon level comprising only the two television shows: Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. Its precedence over C-Level canon was confirmed by Chee.[7]

C-canon is Continuity canon: consisting of materials from the Expanded Universe including books, comics, and games bearing the label of Star Wars. Games and RPG sourcebooks are a special case; the stories and general background information are themselves fully C-canon, but the other elements such as character/item statistics and gameplay are, with few exceptions, N-canon. On April 25, 2014, all previously released C-Canon was officially bumped to S-Canon, and will be replaced by all-new C-Canon material.[2] The first official C-Canon project in the revised continuity will be Star Wars: A New Dawn by John Jackson Miller, which is a prequel novel to Star Wars Rebels. It was released September 2, 2014.[8]

S-canon is Secondary canon: covering the same medium as C-canon, it is immediately superseded by anything in higher levels of canon in any place where two elements contradict each other. The non-contradicting elements are still a canon part of the Star Wars universe. This includes all C-canon material released prior to April 25, 2014,[2] video games such as the online roleplaying game Star Wars: Galaxies, and certain elements of a few N-canon stories.

N-canon is Non-canon: "What-if" stories (such as stories published under the Star Wars: Infinities label), crossover appearances (such as the Star Wars character appearances in Soulcalibur IV), game statistics, and anything else directly contradicted by higher canon ends up here. N-canon is the only level that is not considered official canon by Lucasfilm. Any published material that contradicts things established in G-canon and T-canon is considered N-canon.

Isn't their a radio dead air video that explains the canon thing. Also isn't the canon system pretty much rendered mute by now.

Also any thoughts on the new star wars eu and it's future.

2003 Clone Wars wasn't canon? Extremely odd considering Grievous' cough was due to Windu kicking him in the core. [scratches head]

CGI Clone Wars rebooted alot of stuff about Grevious. One, instead of being forced to become a cyborg due to a shuttle crash in the old Clone Wars EU, he willingly chooses to become one to become a better fighter, particularly against Jedi. As to the coughing thing....it's never really given any explanation in the show. It's just assumed the coughing is a side-effect of Grevious's remaining organics not taking well to his cyborg implants. In other words, it's always been there.

Don't know what video you are referring to, but this is essentially correct. The "hierarchy" of canon the old EU had is gone. Disney rebooted it so only the movies and CGI Clone Wars were canon. All the old EU material is now non-canon (under the "Legends" banner) and has ceased publication. However, moving forward, all new Disney Star Wars books, comics, video games, etc will be canon and on the same level as the movies, as opposed to a few steps down the ladder in the old EU.

There's been a few Disney Star Wars novels so far that have been hit or miss depending on who you ask. Marvel also has a few Star Wars titles running that have been given positive reception so far. Their Darth Vader line in particular is interesting because it has Darth Vader engaging in a sorta House of Cards-ish situation with the Emperor because the Emperor had stripped Vader of nearly all his rank because of his failure to stop the first Death Star from being destroyed.

However, like all comics books, it does have some...questionable dialogue.

To be fair Star Wars is based on old sci-fi serials. Goofy ass dialogue should be embraced.

I'd have to say she didn't give a flying fuck about the limitations seeing as how she killed off Mara Jade without permission.
