Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

Are there not enough artifacts in a single universe to upgrade your character and get all the powers, necessitating multiple runs, or is it just that the main story is the easiest way to get them, rather than hoping for some on random procgen worlds?
There are 24 powers you can collect per playthrough, and collecting them in another playthrough levels them up. Your ship and armor are also upgraded at the start of each playthrough. There’s a cap at 10 levels, which requires 10 playthroughs to get. The NG+ playthroughs are optionally abbreviated and can be completed in only a couple hours each with all power upgrades collected. It’s a stupid waste of time and pisses off every normie player who didn’t research the optimal strategy and discovers that they have to reset their game to keep playing.

Is t just me or does Starfield feel mega astroturfed? Im kind of wondering if we are seeing a massive cordinated marketing war between microsoft and the press. The same people who gave F04 9/10 are now giving starfield 7's. Despite to my eye them being equally terrible. Did Microsoft not give lil extra something something to them? Until recently I was showered in negative reviews and people online shit talking it on different forums comparing it to BG3 and whats Then like 3 days ago it was like a switch flipped and dudes like this started popping up:

An account that's one week old and has only posted about Starfield but it's not just reddit: /V is the same with a war going on between shill posters and spergs.

I don't think this is some coordinated effort. This is the apex of mass consoomerism.

We've certainly hit a point when the most mediocre of games is causing so many people to just ooze pure unadulterated autismo.

It's like you people have been under a rock for the last 10+ years. This isn't new. How many dogshit CoD(war games in general), sports games etc have been given stellar reviews across the board despite being the exact same shit as the year before? How many reviews have we all read where the person spends 90% of the time ripping it a new asshole only to give it 8-9/10?

This is why I find people who care about reviews to be far more retarded, literally, than any blind consoomer or dipshit fanboy could ever be. At least they don't care what some faggot shill says on some worthless website or youtube channel. It's only the HARDCORE GAMERS that care if some no name faggot rates a game highly despite it being mediocre at best, despite claiming they don't care about reviews.

I swear, the hardcore internet gamer is more of a faggot than any normie could ever hope to be. Just lol at these retards giving this bethesda jank high scores and move on instead of getting assmad over it.

That could be part of it but I think there's pushback from game journos because rabid Xbox fans have been going feral on any outlet that doesn't give it at least a 9. TheGamer even published a snark piece earlier targeted directly at people complaining about the Starfield score.

Gamejournos have been getting snappy lately because people no longer regard them as sage fountains of wisdom so much as individualized dispensers of confirmation bias and any time they violate that they get pushback which they hate.

The game was lagging as fuck for me, I'm sure it's because I use HDD's drives and dont have any SSD's. The first time ever my ancient HDD's have caused any problem.
Haven't played much so far due to lagging, reached the Lodge, did some bounty missions and hired some crew. Haven't build any outposts or really explored the planets.
Feels like some big mod for Fallout 4 and not an actual game.
And you would think Bethesda would learn some lessons, but no, same bullshit- trading only through dialog, atrocious inventory system (I've played just a bit and "Notes" inventory section is already a mess), and the dumb Creation-engine AI, that really works only in Skyrim.
Honestly I don't mind the game that much, so far game looks fun, especially cosidering I got it for free.
Yeah, moved the game to SSD and now it's smooth as butter.
I have a question, though- is there a way to increase the crew skill levels?

speaking of engines and spacegames reminded me of some other shitposting bait:
ubisoft's failed toys2life game from 2018 running on the division engine...

it's actually a pretty fun game you don't even need the toys for (never did apparently), but in true ubisoft fashion they had to fuck up the pc port where you have to disable virtualization otherwise their way oversensitive denuvo throws a hissy fit and refuses to launch. worse the official reply is even more clueless (at least they still respond years later, even if it doesn't help much). I can totally see the normies the game would appeal to be able to deal with that retarded shit...
Wow, I found someone else in the wild who has actually heard of this shit. I picked the deluxe edition on sale for like $15 on Switch out of curiosity one day and it's genuinely not a bad game. Getting the digital deluxe edition comes with all the weapons and aircraft parts so there's no need to go hunt down plastic figures. It definitely feels like an Ubisoft take on No Man's Sky, and it kinda flew under the radar.

I've always thought the toys-to-games things has been silly and is always destined to eventually fail. Granted, I know people's kids bought a shit-ton of Skylanders figures. The Starlink figures actually have a few cool designs among them. There are also LEDs on weapons and thrusters that respond to in-game actions if you were using the Starlink controller, which is actually kind of fucking cool for a toy. The inner aircraft/mecha nerd in me lowkey makes me want to hunt a few down just to have. I know it's plastic consoomer shit, but I like what I like.

I wish Bethesda could have done something, ANYTHING more with the space combat. Thematically, it wants to be Elite Dangerous without any of the gameplay nuance that makes ED's gameplay what it is.

Hell, they could have done more with space period. Odd, given that this is supposed to be a space RPG. Even in the above-mentioned Starlink, you traverse to and from planets through ACTUAL GAMEPLAY, not just endless cut scenes. And then, when you get close to a planet, you can -are you ready for this, Todd?- fly seamlessly into a planet's atmosphere and down to ground level.

Why is it that a company that's a large as it is, with the years of experience in the field it has, with the monetary budget and fan support it has, not manage to top the space combat in a dead toys-to-screen game?

cant wait for the honymoon period to be over so people will shit on this game. what i think will happen, people will look at fallout 4 and say "well, maybe fallout 4 was not so bad after all guys". the horror.

the only good thing this game has done is outline who the obvious shills are.

dose NG+ have any fourth wall breaking dialog atleast? like starborn mention how he has already done this or spoil the plot for the other NPCs. that would be a pretty funny moment if done right

Tbf, X-23 in the Marvel comics is also a female clone from a male character (namely Wolverine) as is Cammy from M. Bison, so this isn't as jarring as your companion being an outright tranny and it would make some sense in the far future, people would have mastered how to take a dude's one X chromosome, duplicate it and make a biological woman. Still, the whole delivery of that scene is giving me massive troon validation vibes and more than enough reason not to even pirate this game. Like, why not just say that you are the clone of some dude's X chomosome and leave it at that. The entire scene makes it feel like she was once a dude when she was always a chick. It's not that dramatic.

I really hate this forced troon representation in this game and in thr games/media industry in general.
"I don't define myself as a woman, despite being it biologically, but I do define myself as a clone despite not being it biologically ".

didn't do the main plot, but i feel i should exclusively do that, the best guns you can get max out at 300 damage, which can destory everything short of mini-bosses in about one clip or much much less. and you can get these end game level weapons right in the main city. the problem with exploring is that the content doesn't provide much, you can get better/hand crafted shit usually. the procedural shit isn't well done in the slightest. imagine taking time out of your life to do the rather difficult lockpicking section and then get barely any credits.

Is there any incentive to go into NG+, rather than continue going around to different procedurally generated planets and doing stuff there? I don't really understand why they would implement it and go so far as to tie it into the story, when it doesn't seem like jumping into NG+ unlocks anything other than having a character with a bunch of levels (but no gear) at the starting zones. The game doesn't level-scale, right? So I'd assume NG+ doesn't make everything harder as a challenge for the next run. So why not just make a new character or keep the old game and keep exploring different high-level planets?
It's symbolic and rooted in Buddhist mythology. Each playthrough is a cycle of torment, where your actions, whether they are good and evil, do not matter, and your only rewards are slight power upgrades that also don't matter because enemies scale with you.
You can continue the cycle of torment forever, or you can become enlightened and realize that Bethesda has released the same game for the last decade+ and you can just stop playing and do something more meaningful with your spare time.

10 playthroughs? Maybe on BG3.

Modders, do your thing and I'll console it when the game is fixed (by modders).

I say wait until it is modded than decide.

It doesn't help that many game publishers and devs like Nintendo and Bethesda now are starting to have the same understanding as gamers in that game journoscum are worthless and do more harm then good. That was why both Nintendo and Bethesda refused to give out review copies of TotK and Starfield to journoscum outlets and instead gave review copies to big named gaming streamers. The time of the game journoscum is about to come to an end soon and gaming will be better off for it.

Unless you’re in the industry or run a ragebait culture warrior YouTube/Twitter channel who even reads the gaming press these days?

Watching a streamer barely having this functioning because she didn’t install it to the SSD saved me from dropping money on this. If Bethesda had let the review codes rain to the legacy gaming press this would have not been mentioned in all the 9/10 truly the GOTY reviews.

Let the gaming press die. You can pay a streamer to be positive, they will be scared of getting their access taken away too if they are too honest, but if the damn thing won’t run or if it’s full of fat brown they/them NPCs to hide the lack on innovation then that cannot be hidden.

Heres some fun glitches I have experienced.

Saw this on twitter, not a glitch just thought it was funny.

I am on new game + now. Using the adoring fan as my companion has been a treat. You can equip him with whatever and he has a lot of recorded dialogue. He does tend to repeat himself, but he has actually surprised me with some unique one offs.

You keep your levels and unlocked perks, and get (probably) the best ship in the game and some very good armour. If you are minmaxxing its probably best to rush through the main quest to unlock the ship and then do everything else in ng+

Disagree on the ship. Its a huge step down from the class C I was using at the end of my first run. You cant upgrade it, and it has pitiful storage capacity. The weapons are pretty good but I am working to get another class C ASAP.

I'd forgotten this came out, honestly. Glad to see that my gut instincts weren't wrong to ignore it, since it's a typical Beth game that will only be good in 5+ years after the modders fix everything in a $70+ AAA game that its studio can't be fucked to do right in the first place.

But are your legs okay?
