Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

Is that the magnet floating around /v/? If so, let us know how it works out; kinda hesitant about the link.

Edit: Dodi-Repack is up

Watching some gameplay and there are still minor bugs/rough edges from Skyrim or even older. The UI is seemingly still shockwave and has the same mouse over issues from Skyrim, sprinting still breaks fov when you equip or dequip weapons, and the AI is still braindead. The streamer I'm watching also has an issue where the game is just super gray, it looks like Skyrim when you install ENBSeries with no ENB and all it does is disable the post processing, idk if its a bug or what.

This is just Bethesda being lazy, we already have extremely rudimentary cyborgs and androids in the modern day, imagine on the distant future. Bethesda just didn't wanted to design and deal with the implications of it in the setting or gameplay
Bethesda's passage of time has always operated on arrested development, Fallout 4 (and by extension 3) has a 200 year time skip and in that time nothing has been rebuilt (all the while cyborgs that pass as literal humans get introduced as a major plot point) with people opting to live in craters and bombed-out houses instead.

i get that Fallout is a post-apocalyptic genre and that it wouldn't be fitting for it to be post-post-apocalyptic and that i'm supposed to just consoom slop and not ask questions but you're really making it hard for me Todd.

I'm watching Synth's stream too and wtf are these graphics man? It looks almost exactly like fallout 4. It's not even like I'm a huge graphics whore but man is this shit dated and ugly.

I've heard that the graphics presets automatically turn on upscaling, much like Hogwarts did. Are streamers actually going into the settings and checking that out?

It's the same fucking Creation Engine they've been patching onto since it was Gamebryo in the Fallout 3 days. They're calling it "Creation Engine 2" but I'm about 80% sure it's just the same engine with more patches.

Somehow I'm still feeling tempted to buy it.

Streamer I'm watching has a 3080ti and can't get acceptable framerates even at 70% res with FSR at 1440p. The game is terribly optimized and is using upscaling to 'fix' it like every game does these days. Makes it even blurrier than how it usually looks, plus Bethesda's generally awful TAA that probably is still enabled even when using FSR, then the gross looking lighting from fallout 4 and the super washed out graphics and it just looks incredibly ugly.

Oh boy, do we have another Hogwarts situation where the shiny Nvidia cards can't keep up? Apparently a 7900XTX is running 4k at 60fps, the same as a 4090.

The salt will flow.

*Edit* OTOH I could get a bit salty since I'd mostly be playing on my 4080 laptop lol.

Is this at native though? I said the streamer couldn't get acceptable framerates, what I mean is that its hovering around 60fps but drops below on planets sometimes, or is 70 - 90 interior or in space, which is still pathetic for using FSR at 70% res, but its not stupid low like other games this year.

Yes. Without upscaling. That's what I heard, though. I didn't watch the review myself.

My friend bought the digital deluxe version or whatever. I watched him play, shit seems like something I'll enjoy but I think I'll just wait until gamepass. He got through the first little pirate dungeon before I went home.

This is the first game I've seen where shit looked better when he lowered all the graphics settings. It had some really weird "blurry" effect for anything like 10 feet away from him. Maybe we're just normie tards who don't understand advanced graphics settings but yeah it looked decent once he just set everything to medium.

He also picked one of the presets characters, changed the dudes hair to a buzz cut like he has, and we suddenly realized the preset was literally Commander Shepard with a faux hawk lmao

Well these reviews came up on yahoo for me:

Starfield review: Guns and ships galore, but a vacuum of wonder

Starfield review: You will like some of it

Starfield sterilizes the final frontier

Yeah those are some stellar review headlines you got there bethesda. Really emphasizing the high quality of the release i'm sure
