Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

Man, this game has a lot riding on its shoulders.

Given how both Microsoft and Bethesda haven’t exactly garnered the best reputations as of late given their many disappointing recent releases, and with games like TOTK and BG3 winning over many critics and gamers in the “open-world” department, this game really needs to at least be enjoyable.

I will say this though. While the game has been getting a good marketing push, they haven’t been over-the-top with it. Nothing on the level of Cyperpunk 2077’s for example. Heck, they’ve even tried to temper expectations by explicating deconfirming some aspects. That, for me at least, is a relief.

Yeah, that Q and A they did apparently confirmed that Mechs won't be drivable in the game as they have been "outlawed", and that the economy isn't something that can be influenced like in Elite Dangerous.

Really? I heard good things about it (at release)

It does have its merits but I think people were expecting FNV in space since its Obsidian and a lot of fans grew almost this cult like devotion to this company (not getting that what makes their games good isnt the company but the people).

I guess because I didnt have that high of expectations (which I have for almost nothing) so I wasnt that surprised when it didnt rock the socks off the industry. Besides, the whole "corporations/capitalism sucks" as a theme is increasingly cringingly eye rolling.

I will play devil's advocate and say they have another shot to improve with the sequel but, again, very low expectations.

Bethesda was never the type to do that sort of thing, at most they have the Todd Man announcing it and thats really it. It just works, you could say.

They are like, "here is the game, its gonna be good, pinky promise.". Instead of putting trend celebrity at the moment on stage and riding off their popularity (God damn is Keanus Reeves an overrated actor these days)

Either thats DLC or modders will "fix it"

I kind of think the mechs will be DLC at some point based on how they answered the question, and I immediately thought that there will be mods that create a dynamic economy for sure.

And I kind of wonder if there are going to be any "celebrity" voices at all in this game.

They didn't hype it up like Keanu with Cyberpunk, but I think they did make a point of Terence Stamp, Max Von Sydow and Christopher Plummer doing voices in Elder Scrolls before release. Also Liam Neeson in Fallout 3.

Outlawed like levitation magic. Even the militant lolbertarians respect a mech ban.

I doubt it. Going through Fallout 4's IMDB, there wasn't anybody I recognized, other than established voice actors and Ron Perlman. Same for 76, barring one just because I remember her also being in Sons of Anarchy for all of five minutes.

Im still shocked that they gave the role of Preston to someone who barely voiced acted before and since. For a character with a significant early game presence, you think they would play safer with a more established voice.

Two weeks assholes….Two fuckin weeks.

Someone really pissed on your Cheerios this morning. :story:

My point is this, if something does not interest me, I move on. It's simple. You're here just projecting me because of a thing you like and other people such as myself don't.
Your brain is quite smooth.
Yeeeeeaaaaaah that ain’t your point. It’s a pattern with you to just endlessly shit on everything. I honestly feel the same way about a lot of things, mostly movies and tv shows and stuff cuz I like older movies and shows but sometimes it just gets old.
That teaser that made about TES 6 implied the game was at least halfway done
I’m pretty sure Todd just said “And the game we’re working on next” meaning after Starfield and it’s DLC is done, we’re going on to ES6.

So have they released any real gameplay for this yet? This close to release and as far as I know there isn't any nonbullshot footage?

I'll be happy as long as they don't have any fucking no talent Youtubers like Cyberpunk had.

I just want my classic no talent Maryland theater actors to return, and I guess I get my wish with the Adoring fan and black Constellation guy at least.

Then they'll go online and say how shit the game is after 10k hours and even their 1500 mod list doesn't make it good. All while pretending that the mods they use or make are somehow better than the game itself.
In their defense, there really are mods out there for games that are better than the original game. Of course the modder didn't have to do all that very heavy work of making the base game, but, games that aren't worth playing unmodded that are worth it with the mod.

I only played it once but I specifically remember some chick stole my car in the junk yard and she was just a terrible VA, and then I found out she's some streamer/youtuber

Apparently there were a bunch that played one note characters in the game.

I don’t know I would remember her since it’s been a while that I played the game

Your mother?
Cool bro 👍
