Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

Ssds cost a lot more and you need to put your OS on it too. I got one but damn it costed an arm and a leg.
not really, all it affects is booting windows and maybe opening programs. if you're not constantly switching between stuff the actual effect can be pretty much ignored.
I also hate using windows on it because that POS still has no proper way to separate the user directory, which is the one that gets constant writes, so you either have to fight the OS to offload that to a rust spinner or deal with the shortened lifetime (even if it's just a matter of principle). might as well put it on a HDD in the first place and be done with it...

I'm honestly wondering WTF I did, because in my play through it felt like she was trying to get on my dick the second we got to the Moon.

Was it just because I had the "born in the UC' trait, maybe?
well it makes sense when you consider what else runs around in the game, depending how attractive your character is he's probably be best choice ever...

When did you buy it?

I built a PC recently (less than a year ago) and ssds, even m.2s, are really cheap. On amazon a 256gb ssd costs £30, and 1tb for a little over £50. A 2tb hdd costs £60. (At time of writing, you can get a 1tb Crutial m.2 for £30. And my local brick and mortar place that charges through the nose has brand name ssds for £60)

Hdd has a place for bulk storage like videos, but ssds are cheap enough and the performance uplift great enough that it makes sense to have them, or even multiple of them. This isn't even a case of "lol poor", but of lopsided PC choices. Even if you pay through the nose you're looking at the price of a AAA game for a massive performance gain. Like @Problematic User Forever said, ssds have been standard for years now.

If you're running a PC old enough that ssds aren't a realistic option, then chances are you're going to be under Starfield minimum spec.

One thing that is annoying me is that I'm playing a neutral evil pirate character and trying to be as abrasive and hostile as possible to UC members and NPCS that act snarky or disrespectful to me, but it rarely ever seems to change the outcome of the conversation. The UC captain guy who "interrogated" me, the black crimson fleet dyke who is all talk, and anyone who gives me the annoyingly common gen Z irony/sarcasm treatment, I immediately pick all the most hostile dialogue options for them. They then say something like "Wow aren't you a friendly one" or "HAHA finally grew some backbone huh?" and continue their spiel as normal. Constantly insulting and belittling a military leader's attempt to have me work undercover for him after he arrested me shouldn't result in him brushing it off and sending me on my way as if I just happily accepted all the bullshit he told me anyway. I can't even kill him. Sad.

A year ago. I got a 4 tb one and just split it into 2 partitions for windows and games. And got a 4 tb spinny for torrented old series and better optimised games (and a few gbs worth of spicy memes). But EU cpu parts are more expensive. I paid at least 150 bucks for it.

As a general rule of thumb I think Synthetic Man is a faggot but he was on point with Starfield and it was nice to see an indepth video that confirmed basically everything I figured would be wrong with this game having an utter lack of any kind of appealing RPG features. A lot of YouTubers I liked were considering this a return to form for Bethesda but it smelt like bullshit, and I seriously think the only reason they say that is because of the fluff choices at the start and the lack of a voiced PC.

The bit about how you can't kill the (((corporate))) overlords for no reason, even though that would be a totally logical route for quest completion, really did the game in for me. The 'essential' NPC tag is the worst thing Bethesda ever came up with. This isn't just Fallout 4 in space, Fallout 4 wasn't even this restrictive, at least you could shoot Father the moment he walks through the doors.

What an embarrassment. Bethesda is really dead.
There's dozens of cheaper and better options for space stuff out there, play those instead.
Honestly if No Man's Sky had more frequent/better combat it'd blow this game the fuck out by a mile and that came out YEARS ago.

You can kill anyone in the Outer Worlds. Civilians, quest givers, story essential NPCs, even your companions. It has better RPG elements too.

It's so fucking funny that even as far as they're fallen Obsidian is still cucking Bethesda and they weren't even trying to.

I thought for sure they'd at least let you be a murder hobo outside the main story because of how the main quest works by resetting the whole universe, but I guess Bethesda retardation should not be underestimated.

I haven't seen the quote myself, but I've seen people saying that Todd/Bethesda claimed that the emptyness of many planets was intentional because that's how it was when humanity first walked on the moon.

But about 80 hours in, and all I can think is "You know what else they had on the moon? A rover."

I picked one option similar in the lodge with all the companions in the room, it shot off a 'disliked that' for every single one except the religious dude who gave a 'liked that'.

I may be misremembering, but I recall someone posted some interviews for the Starfield advertisement where he talked about being Catholic, and I assume he resents it because of that interview about the Dark Brotherhood questline in Oblivion. I didn't play Fallout 4, so perhaps someone who is more versed at Emil hating can fill me in for that.

There are three religions/cults, the serpent thing is the only one that is blatantly a cult, the one I am talking about is the one the guy in the lodge follows, I really honestly forgot the name of everything in the game. It feels very scientology from the presentation of it, you have to piece together the meaning of a parable that exists shared between all three of the religions for the main quest. The other non serpent group has the pajeet dude talk about how they used to hate atheists joining their group but now they are all atheist, and their group is less of a religion and more of a community group for helping people out or something.

Maybe someone less jaded than me can see the story as a pro religion thing, perhaps I'm projecting onto it, but I doubt its written well enough for that.
I finally decided to do some research on this (because no way I am playing this garbage) and Andreja is a member and believer of the Serpent's religion, making her another religious companion. House Va'ruun which is the political faction that is the center of the religion is isolationist and only mentioned in the game outside the embassy in the game, likely because Bethesda ran out of time or possible dlc bait. The serpent's enemies you fight in game are renegades

Fanatical, hostile remnants of House Va'ruun known as Va'ruun Zealots stayed behind and continue to plague the Settled Systems as of 2330. Acccording to Andreja, the Zealots have twisted the teachings of the Va'ruun faith and see all non-believers as "accursed" who must be cleansed from the galaxy before the Great Serpent will deign to consume it.

The player can choose to be a member of House Va'ruun at the start of the game by selecting the "Serpent's Embrace" Trait during Character Customization.
Chosing this will give the player some special dialogue when dealing with Serpent cultists or other House Va'ruun members. The Great serpent is also not related to the main history of the game with the Enlightened as far I was able to see.

Sincerely it is what I thought, some people are ascribing Bethesda an intention where there is likely none, Bethesda wouldn't actually risk doing something that is not complete bland and safe with any actual message that could be polemical.

"We made it boring as shit on purpose"

Eat shit Todd, fuck you.

they added some stuff/changed some stuff regarding tools and sentinels last year. it's still not doom and the focus is still more on survival and exploration, but it's at least something.

todd's not wrong, space is a lot of nothing. doesn't necessarily make an interesting game tho.

I just want NMS to have a melee update with fist weapons so I can finally punch a starstation to death godfucking dammit.

What the fuck? So I did Sarah's lovequest and brought home the little niglet next thing I know we're talking at the waterfall and we're dating. As soon as that dialogue is done she's talking about her parents and now we're getting married. This is worse than the fucking Serana Dialogue Add-on mod for Skyrim. The entirety of the dialogue and romance reeks of Skyrim tranny modders.
