How do you think Starfield will turn out?

Special Powers are essentially just dragon shouts and Elder Scrolls Skyrim spells but with a "space" name and Starfields visual effects. Unrelenting Force is "Gravity Wave", Detect life is "See Star Stuff", Whirlwind Sprint is "Gravity Dash", Fire Breath is "Solar Flare", Oak Flesh is "Moon Form". Slow Time is "Phased Time", etc. etc. etc.
This is so dumb.

At the end of the main quest, you become a "Starborn".

Being Starborn is not like being Nerevarine. The galaxy at large does not acknowledge you for the most part.

These are very weak compared to their Skyrim counterparts for the most part as well, as you are expected to "upgrade them" by finding them again in New Game+. The only ones I found to be worth a damn is Anti-Gravity Field, which is the first one you are given, and Gravity Well which creates a singularity that everything in the area is pulled into and damaged by.

They aren't explained at all outside of just being "gifts" from the "creators". Characters even comment "This doesn't make scientific sense!" and stuff I'm pretty sure.
Holy fucking shit.
Well, time to replay the Mass Effect trilogy.

The main quest doesn't feel like one, it just feels like a faction. It almost feels like it was a conscious design based on how Todd said he thought people would focus on being space truckers, bounty hunters, and other such roles or jobs over the main quest. It feels like a faction, but Bethesda still felt the need to force you into it through the intro.

On top of that, the entire fucking end game meta hinges on it.

It's so fucking bizarre. I think the idea of not having a central main story would have been great, but they put such little effort into the other factions or even other "jobs". I've said before, the most fun I have in this game is building ships and doing bounty hunter/cargo jobs. That's not a testament to how great they are, it's just those have so much more...I want to say action compared to the "exploration" that the whole game seems to be based around.

I can see how this game could be made better through community content, but that doesn't give Bethesda a pass for all these weird fucking decisions and just lackluster bullshit. And on top of that, they're taking forever to even release the mod tools to maybe add some decent content to the game.

This game suffers from the exact same issues I had with MGS V. It's just fucking empty and what little story is there is just bullshit. I can see a base for something great, but the "game" is shit. And at this point how much fucking time do these developers need to make a fucking *game* and not a fucking tech demo?

I think the reason for forcing you to side with Constellation is a lot more petty: Emil was upset nobody liked The Railroad in Fallout 4 so he forced you to side with their equivalent in Starfield. You're absolutely right in that they seem like just another faction, and from the previews that's exactly what I assumed they would be. Not like there is any salvaging of a story with "Starborn" in them, but I do wonder how that would play if these ridiculously boring urbanites were replaced with some other unique characters that did the same thing as they did for the story. At this point, I think I would unironically prefer Rick Sanchez from Rick And Morty behind a bulletproof glass telling me what to do like in Outer Worlds, and in that game you can even sell him out to the feds if he annoys you too much. Try putting a bullet in literally any named NPC in Starfield and see what happens.

Also, I think that MGS5 comparison is uncalled for, the gameplay loop of THAT game is just plain fun so even if you do a lot of repetition it still doesn't bother me, plus resource gathering and fund building actually amounts to something since building up your Mother Base matters a whole lot more than building...resource factories, 21K said that the only reason these serve right now is to produce Iron and Aluminium so you can build a whole lot of girders to sell to merchants and earn XP quickly, "cheese factories" he called them with how fast you level up. At least in MGS5 you want to play the game instead of sleeping in a settlement for 48 ingame hours, taking crap from your factory and selling it, coming back and repeating the cycle so you can level up quicker. Hell, I think even the Side Ops are better than the sidequests in Starfield too, what a disaster.

Didn't this retard staunchly defend the game at launch? And after all this time he finally beat it with just 60 hours under his belt?
fucking shill dick sucker that defended the game to high heavens, now shits on it when its socially acceptable to do so (after getting paid).

Synthetic man reacting to his starfield video was such a good take down on ACK-man.

God that video is so cringe and I just started watching it. That RE4 video where he whined at people who wanted to see Ashley's panties was bad but this is even worse. SM is right, AM is just reddit incarnate
Let's not forget Gman video btw, he doubled down on the game being "good" and the haters being "wrong" even more, with a gigachad thumbnail

Forcing players to side with a particular faction in a game like this is a surefire way to make players dislike that faction. Real galaxy brain move there, Emil. People would have forgotten about how gay Constellation is if the player was allowed to genocide them (at least until the first batch of Starfield video essays start "informing" people's opinions) and the main quest was allowed to progress in spite of that.

This has been mentioned already, but that Estrogen Man video really highlighted just how BLAND the game is. The shills have to keep Babyface and friends screaming about pronouns in the newscycle just so that the game is RELEVANT, forget the retarded leftist talking points coming from dogfuckers and worse to defend their stupid points(shoutout to YMS btw, really good choice of allies you got there, Act "I only went to a pride parade because my girlfriend made me!" Man)
It's crazy just how quickly this game died out. Sure people memed on all the retarded elf niggers with they/them pronouns and bearfucking in Baldur's Gate 3 too, but guess what? That game is still more relevant and more playable than Slopfield, those were just memes that came from people playing the game, not drama artificially bloated so that the consumers don't forget about the product before it even gets a chance to open it's microtransaction store. Real good contrast between a game with love and effort put into it(even if it is divisive for various reasons) vs Soulless, Pajeet Crafted Triple A Slop.
I don't have time to finish that video but I am not sure I need to, Synth knocked it out of the park everytime that dumb soy fucker tried to build a strawman and the only other thing he has going for him is his over-edited/memed style of cutaway gags like another shill, Gman likes to include(which is awful). I already know how the rest of the hour+ of the video is going to look like, and it will add nothing of substance.
If these are the kinds of videos people say they're tired of watching, I'm with you on that one. What a grifter

There seems to be more pronoun sperging in this thread than there is from any number of Starfield shills, tbh. I can't think of anyone that's used the gay outer space niggers as a point of hype.

The difference as I see it is in BGS3 as in Fallout New Vegas before it you can kill literally any NPC if they shit talk you or they're just ugly and you don't want to look at them anymore.

You might fail some quests or turn a faction hostile but that's freedom baby. Something Bethesda used to understand and build their games around, not Starfield though.

Which is funny because the stupid thing didn't even work. Feels emblematic of Bethesda, tbh, people make a big deal about a feature and it's broken when they peer a smidge under the surface. I wouldn't have even noticed it didn't work if the one person I encountered that referred to me in third person didn't pause before saying "them" instead of "him" or "her" like the speaker was calling attention to it.

Watched this video, so figure I might as well link it here
Context: This guy's videos are usually pretty good, but you can tell his audience are people who grew up on Gen 7 and zoomers so he leans into memes and hyperboles as well as "remember this?" nostalgia baiting. He also is known for making sponsored content, but I didn't get this vibe from him here(despite me not agreeing with most of what he said). Most importantly, this guy is a massive Bethesda fan and has hundreds of hours in Fallout 76, in fact he used to be a 76-tuber before even he grew tired of the game, so anyone with that high level of tolerance for liquid shit was destined to give a positive review to this game.
Oh, and he is literally the only person so far that I found that actually LIKES settlement building in this game AND one that thinks the story in Starfield is "deep and intriguing" LMAO

can't take anyone bitching about a Bethesda game, let alone Starfield, for over 10 minutes seriously.
Best part is if you listen to these faggots you quickly realize 85% of the video's runtime is just recapping what they did in the game peppered with mild observations and jokes. It's a total waste of time.
I have a hard time believing there will be mods that will "fix" starfield. there were fuck all mods for fallout 3 or 4
It needs a massive setting and quest overhaul on par with basically making an entirely new game. We are only just now getting mods of that scale for Fallout 4. Shits dead, at most you'll get some content drips to help out.

I feel like this was meant to be even more open and freeform than Bethesda's other games but for whatever reason the main quest wound up getting all this attention.

It's a classic political tool. Literally strawmanning.

Another point people pointed out in this complete non-drama is that a lot of the people who suddenly felt like such moral righteous warriors for calling that one retard raging at pronouns stupid are people who back in the day loved to do angry review/critic bits. Hell many of them still do it for plenty of things, but suddenly it is verbotten when it comes to the special rainbow squad.

The entire thing was a desperate cope to portray anyone not sucking Todd's dick as a "bigot" and it failed because it became clear that this was no "insignificant thing only obsessed weirdos care about" when they proceeded to make the screaming manchild look like the saner one by banning the mods to remove it and start a purge of anyone who tried and mess with the game in any way seen as "reactionary".

It's why I believe the talk about the "main" team having to fix Fallout 76 while modders and pajeets focused on Starfield.

Fallout 76 may be the worst thing that ever happened to Bethesda even if they did "fix" it like people claim.

The lead designer for Far Harbor, arguably the best and only worthwhile piece of content for Fallout 4, was the lead quest designer in this game so that's not the case. The "magic" is gone, Bethesda just lost what little goodwill there was left and Fallout 76/Starfield are the wake up calls. Pajeets are definitely a part of the problem, but the main dev team is no better.
There is no "fixing" Starfield by mods or any other method simply because this is a space game running gamebryo. There is no way around it, the engine simply can't handle a game of this scope, just like you can't duct tape a space ship and expect it to hold against the vacuum of space. At this point, I am seeing people who are saying that Fallout 76 is even better than Starfield.

I fear for the next Elder Scrolls. If Starfield is the yardstick to measure Bethesda by then they’re just going to take Oblivion, stick a chick in it, and make it lame and gay.
