How do you think Starfield will turn out?

This video popped up for me on Youtube and all I could think was that Todd is looking rough.

There's not enough autism in my body to waste a day's shift hearing some nerd critique a shit game.

Some sperg did a 4 hour vid on Saints Woke and went nuts when the publisher got it demonitized after a few days.

Bethesda needs to step it up and go after these people instead of just literally paying their employees to argue in the Steam reviews.

He's looking bloated. Must be hitting the bottle to cope
I watched half the video and he doesn't look nearly as bad in the video itself, which makes me wonder WTF they'd use that as a thumbnail.

Anyways, it's kind of funny seeing him brag about how Terminator was the first 3D game to use keyboard and mouse for movement, how Daggerfall introduced the skill system that is used in Skyrim today(lol?) and him stating that Redguard failed because it was "too conservative".

Edit: Apparently Bethesda went to reddit to respond to feedback on their updates.

It's truly amazing that it's going to take minimum 4 months to get city maps into the game. And that's being optimistic. I can only imagine what new forms of travel means.

The reddit thread is kind of funny. Some people are giving them ideas for how to hide load screens, and they are either things that are already present in the game or are "tricks" that will dramatically increase the loading times by upwards of 10 seconds.

I'm convinced at this point I'm one of like a handful that actually played this game, and that's including testers.

Yeah, I was playing Andromeda this year, admittedly years after its release where presumably all the bugs were ironed out (aside from 1 side quest) and I was wondering if I was playing the same game as what the moaners were talking about. It wasn't the Mass Effect Trilogy but it wasn't trying to be, it had its own beats and the gunplay was amazingly smooth with the powers provided.
Ok, I’ll bite - if I give Andromeda one thing, it’s that I think the game would’ve benefited from NOT having the Mass Effect branding. Because it was a Mass Effect game, that gave it a certain kind of expectation - and when the game came out and was a flaming pile, to the point the teased DLC’s got axed and we haven’t heard anything on the sequel front, it soured a lot of people on it, myself included.

The fact I’d rather play that than Starfield says a lot about how this game shat the bed. Maybe the years since release and playing the Trilogy will soften my opinion on it if I go back…

how to hide load screens

If they took all the loading screens away players would still be faced with the fact that Starfield only has six faction missions, and about the same again single-location missions. That's the game, it's tiny. They've nominally gated all the fun starship designs behind a dual Research-Level barrier to stretch everything out, and even when you finally slap your hand over level 60 and unlock all vendor items you suddenly discover that they've fucked Class C ships right up by making them unviable due to their mass. There's nothing in the Class C weapon roster that compensates, the best Class C engine adds a single additional energy point which is functionally useless, and enemy ships were already having trouble chipping away at Class B shields anyway.

If it turns out "150 Employees" is the name of their coding AI, it wouldn't be surprising. Starfield felt like a game assembled by an AI given vague instructions, and then told to defend the result in the comments section of Steam. The idea that choosing a different chracter background changes the game is laughable given these add maybe two unique dialogue lines to the entire playthrough of no consequence whatsoever, yet this was a repeated suggestion in the rebuttals, presumably made by a non-player who imagined they were DnD Character Classes, or, you know? A poorly optimized AI repeating the same line that it plucked out of the press release.

Still, Starfield forced me to clear a lot of disc space and I now have 150GB of SSD to play around with after uninstallation. So not all bad, then.

Emil Pagliarulo (Starfield writer, Bethesda mainstay) is now the latest Bethesda employee to have a big melty on Twitter about how players are shitting on Starfield.

Emil is of course famous within the Bethesda-sphere due to the following appearance as a keynote speaker at the STORY conference, which is a ~40-minute long explanation about why his writing is intentionally shit because people who play video games are too retarded to appreciate good writing (unless it's New Vegas, in which case we don't know how Emil is able to reconcile with people not treating that game like they do other Bethesda sandbox), you'll see this sort of player antagonism is a recurring theme with Emil because if there's a problem to be found, then it most certainly is a you problem.

here he explains that at Bethesda they don't do design documentation (lol), and instead work by the tenement of "K.I.S.S." (Keep It Simple, Stupid) which should explain why all Bethesda games are such lukewarm puddles of shit and why TESVI will certainly be another offering of middling slop shot straight out of Todd Howard's cock.

People really need to learn how to shut up and stay off social media.

If I was in the position of these people I’d pay someone I knew and trusted just to post bland PR shit, escalate any business opportunities, and not reply to anyone.

I don’t understand the ego necessary to think bitching using your own name to a million strangers will somehow make the world better.

Having a bad day? Fire up WhatsApp and complain to your real friends. You even get to use gamer words and don’t get into trouble for it!

I used to think they were just in denial but after seeing the responses from Todd and Emil they're 100% serious.

They really did unironically think this boring, ugly, buggy, piece of shit was some kind of genius, revolutionary, paradigm shifting, gold that people would play forever and print infinite money.

Completely delusional, the success of Skyrim broke these people's brains.

I can't decide is Todd is about to murder Emil or if they just can't wrangle him any further and this is as serene and sedated as he ever will be. If he ever gets fired, he's gonna break every single NDA he's ever signed immediately and it'll be glorious.

I think both Todd and Emil are equally retarded and contempt with how they run things.
If anything actually changes it will come from Microsoft pressure. Imagine spending 7.5B on the Skyrim developer and they deliver this game, and everyone is starting to assume that Skyrim 2 will be another piece of shit if nothing is done. It can't be a good look for the gaming division at MS.

This is some industrial strength cope.

For starters he doesn't actually seem to address any of the complaints. Like, at all. He is doing a lot of seething about the hate he is getting but he has 0 arguments to push back with, neither a "actually it is not shit" nor a "your arguments are wrong".

For another he keeps trying to play the "game development is a big thing with a huge team" which feels like throwing the blame at other people, which only make it look worse because it sounds like he is off loading complaints to non-writers for his shit writing and ignores how some of the best Bethesda stories came from non-writers making their quests in Morrowind.

Finally, he has no excuse to be this shit given he has been on the industry for something like 25 years now. If this was his first big writing job it might not have been as bad but fucker has a history with writing garbage story-lines that actively undermine and sabotage the games they are attached to. His stupid bullshit on Fallout 4 made it one of the worst story-lines on that entire series, so full of retarded decisions it became a complete meme how no one gave a fuck about their own kid in the game. He has had almost a decade to improve that, and he managed to make Starfield WORSE than Fallout 4 somehow.

This is straight up a contradiction. Having no design documents makes things more complicated, and directly fucks with the K.I.S.S. principle because it makes it hard for the people working on it to coordinate and maintain it simple. It also is straight up a lie because if they were actually upholding the K.I.S.S. they wouldn't have been shoving so much garbage on Fallout 4 lore wise with the Commonwealth sized plot holes about how absurd it is that the Institute is bothering to make literal roombas into self aware A.I. or why the fuck the ending of the game requires you to destroy the other factions fully for no real reason other than Emil being too fucking lazy to write a sensible BoS annexation of Boston, or a Compromise between the Railroad and Minutemen, or a alliance of the BoS and Minutemen, and many other far more sensible options.
