Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

think I'm skipping a lot of the graphical stuff. I am reminded why I hate modlists and hardcore modding faggots with the amount of shit in here that seems really superficial
I avoid mod lists for this as well. Try to follow a guide for Skyrim or Fallout and it's sixty percent texture replacers, lighting mods, model tweaks, outfits, face edits, and then a giant mod that adds realtime reflective nipple sweat.

Just annoying. I always just pick ten mods for a list that fix key issues and tweak from there. You don't need all that other crap.
I know I'm late on this but I'm at the terrormorph storyline and JFC I hate the "trust the soyence" angle. It's clear that using the creature is the safest choice and yet every companion wants me to release the experimental virus.

It is insane that EVERY character seethes about you not trusting science, like using a biological solution isn't science, somehow.

That's what I do too, also because the game just got released and Bethesda is patching the game every 2 or 3 months.
I only use a few mods for now:
-Baka Achievement Enabler (so I can keep unlocking achievements while the mods are on)
-StarUI Inventory
-Infinite Ship Storage
-Faster Airlock and Hatch Animations
-Faster Ship Animations

a giant mod that adds realtime reflective nipple sweat.

Exactly. That's what pissed me off so much. There's no nuance. You must believe in the soyence, despite that the microbe solution comes from the same people who worked in that xenowarfare division.

I'm thinking of giving the game a playthrough with a modlist I've had recommended to me by someone. See how much or little it improves the game. Might give updates as I go along.

Update: I haven't started playing. Setting this shit up is already annoying even with MO2. I'm halfway through downloading the list. I think I'm skipping a lot of the graphical stuff. I am reminded why I hate modlists and hardcore modding faggots with the amount of shit in here that seems really superficial.
The only useful modlists I've seen are the bare essential ones with bug fixes and necessary tools to go forward with your own modding setup. Other modlists are just for lazy faggots who don't want to bother reading shit to set things up properly.
Angry Joe, who is somehow still going in 2024, rated Starfield as the #1 Most Disappointing Game of 2023:

Thanks for reminding me this faggot Joe still exists.

We got some longform community drama brewing. Bless the Lord.

A Quick Primer
I'm sure I've already mentioned in previous comments, there is a youtuber named Patrician who does longform content.
Patricians method of producing content, is, controversial among other longfags to say the least.
What he does is he spends anywhere from a few months, even up to a year or more, doing what he calls "workstreams".
What are work streams? Workstreams are when Patrician analyzes other longform retrospectives, taking detailed notes, against his own runs he did for the review.
It's part of his process for making a rigorous review, but it makes some people, such as Acerthorn, Salt Factory, and Neverknowsbest, quite upset.
Acerthorn, who largely seems to have stopped caring, at one point try to flag his channel, and during the workstream that was pertinent to him, came into chat and tried to influence the narrative around his videos.

What happened?
PatricianTV's longform review of Starfield released on December 4th 2023, two days following Hbomberguy's plagiarism video.
It included a reference to the Joker, "Starfield is the game you deserve", a sentiment hundreds, if not thousands of people have expressed.
In a move not unlike something out of Acerthorn's playbook, Neverknowsbest has decided to accuse PatricianTV of plagiarism. (Addressed in his response.)
And this is following a video 2 weeks ago, where he blames youtubers Creetosis and Neverknowsbest for Emil Pagliaruolo's bad name, and accuses them of defamation.

The original Starfield retrospective

Creetosis' videos

Neverknowsbest gunt guarding

Patrician's response

I guess fucking Mauler has weighed in with Creetosis? I haven't watched this yet.

Wait, Salt doesn't like Patrician? He doesn't strike me as the type of guy who would throw a temper tantrum or get jealous over the guy. Hell, Patrician even mentioned his video in one of his and not in a demeaning way, not sure why he would be involved in all this.
Also, I absolutely love the seethe this guy generates. Reminds me of Stonetoss on how he is able to generate maximum asshurt just by opening his mouth and being right.

Well everyone who doesn't like Patrician and other youtubers he associates with publicly, has their own backstory right?
iirc Salt Factory originally got into it with Noah Caldwell Gervais on Twitter or something like that?
And at back during Patrician's Skyrim workstreams, he mocked "ten hour reviews of ET that think they know everything" or whatever exactly it was.
So yeah I think he's still a little bit salty and probably will never like a certain subsection of his follow retrospective/longform content youtubers.
But it's really not that big of a deal. It's not like Acerthorn's trying to get his discord banned, or NeverKnowsBest going on a pro-Emil Pagliarulo crusade.

I don't know anything about the guy or any drama related to him, doesn't strike me as a lolcow type. His videos are good, wonder when he will make a video on Starfield.
I love how Acerthorn is somehow involved in this, love to see me some cameos

Well to give you a basic idea. There's like certain contingent of content creators in the retrospective community who think that you can approach this kind of content in a rigorous and objective way, to put it in the most autistic way possible. They're effort posters.

This, for whatever reason, causes quite a bit of drama with other retrospective and "longform content" youtubers, who tend to write their reviews in a manner that is more akin to describing their playthroughs, and their opinions on the game. While not all of these content creators necessarily get butthurt about our more autistic content creating friends, chances are they still fall under what some people have dubbed "second monitor youtubers", implying that they are used for background noise. This would be like Salt Factory, Neverknowsbest, Luke Stephens.

Unrelated to all this drama you have like Grim Beard and SuperRAD, who make really good reviews but they're social justice warriors and they pretend like no one else exists.

I don't want this to spiral into off topic discussion about youtubers, but do you have proof Grim Beard is a SJW? He doesn't strike me as the type when watching his videos, or at least he doesn't mention any politics in them.
As for the "contingent" you mentioned, literally who gives a shit. People should make whatever they feel like, be it a glorified let's play or an autistic 20 hour thesis statement that feels like someone's doctorate paper. People who tell others what they're "allowed" and not allowed to make are autistic, simple as, same as people who get butthurt off other's success

Yes he freaked out over being called a burrito boy and he's a big feminist.
But yeah he's not involved in the Starfield drama
That's Creetosis, Patrician, Neverknowsbest, and now it looks as if other people like Mauler have gotten involved.

Would be interested in archives or screencaps if you have them, then I think the e-celeb detour should stop unless it's thread relevant.
Then again, the game is already dead and there is fuck all news but e-celeb drama going on, so whatever. What's this about Mauler?
