The fact that this was a soulslikes and not a more traditional action game was it's biggest downside. The last thing we need is more Soulsslop.

The degradation of slop into slopslop is killing [that thing you claim to like but hate].Isn’t everything “slop” now?
Your assessment is correct. It's in large part why I like the game, it can obviously use some fine tuning in the next game (most of all the shit writing), but it plays well, progression feels adequately paced, and the shocker of all shockers to me is the amount of unlockable content that would normally be paywalled behind mtx/battlepass nonsense. It's from a company known for having the scummiest of gacha mechanics, so I'm hoping this isn't a fluke.reminds me of PS2 era Japanese games
I hate the word slop now.Isn’t everything “slop” now?
Nit pick: You do lose all the consumables you used.Stellar Blade: No death penalties, doesn't even start you back at a camp in some instances, just respawns you with full healing outside the boss.
"Everything I don't like isIsn’t everything “slop” now?
"Every action game that requires the little bit of coordination is Dark Souls."I don't see how people are calling this a fucking souls-like.
But Mr H did nothing wrong"Everything I don't like isHitlerslop."

I can do the same thing on the original Mario too.Simple. You can die as easily as the basic enemies you kill. Isn't that the most defining trait anyway.
Sure, but what else are you spending money on. A nice difference from Souls-like games is that all the consumables are easily purchasable, including one that lets you have a 2nd chance during the fight. Good luck buying more black firebombs in Dark Souls.Nit pick: You do lose all the consumables you used.
Still a bit frustrating we're still getting that comparison. I figured it died out years ago when Cuphead and Hollow Knight were the Dark Souls of platformers."Every action game that requires the little bit of coordination is Dark Souls."
Souls-lite is another, more accurate term. The combat feels similar in terms of physics and timing, but it's a little more forgiving and much faster and cooler.I don't see how people are calling this a fucking souls-like.
My point wasn't descriptive so I'll make it again. What separates souls-likes and other third-person action games like ninja gaiden sigma, monster hunter or devil may cry, is that you die far more easily in souls-likes than in those games. Here is where Stellar Blade comes in, you have limited healing and can die 2-3 hits, after the tutorial area.I can do the same thing on the original Mario too.
Pretty much Son Wukong, though it did have more weapons (but were far harder to come by due to being locked behind cryptic quests, so I didn't have a new weapon until the very end game). Stellar Blade is more similar to DMC but god forbid zoomers remember more than one game per genre.Something I feel I glossed over: Stellar Blade has one melee weapon and one ranged weapon. Imagine playing any souls-like similar to that.
Well, there's Dante Must Die mode that makes you die pretty fast. I imagine Ninja Gaiden's harder modes are like that too. But I guess it's not fair to compare those optional modes, you're right based on Normal. My point wasn't descriptive so I'll make it again. I think the perfect description of this game is Nier Automata meets Devil May Cry, with the exploration of Dark Souls.Souls-lite is another, more accurate term. The combat feels similar in terms of physics and timing, but it's a little more forgiving and much faster and cooler.
But you still need to have 3D/3rd person, some health and some RPG elements to be "Souls Like," right? Because in Super Meatboy and Hotline Miami are both games where you die in one hit, but neither would be considered a Souls like game.My point wasn't descriptive so I'll make it again. Counterpoint: I've beaten Bloodborne five times using only the starter Saw Cleaver and Hunter Blunderbuss. What now, libtard? I just completely owned you with facts and logic, that means this game that is nothing like Dark Souls is now a souls-like.Something I feel I glossed over: Stellar Blade has one melee weapon and one ranged weapon. They're sold by the Crestfallen Merchant in Sen's Fortress for 500 souls each, just get good at jumping over that broken bridge.Good luck buying more black firebombs in Dark Souls.

not really no, soulslop are slow action unlike NG and DmC, it's a separation cause for any soulstard and any actionchad, ask a soulstard to play ninja gaiden on master ninja and watch him slowly get fucked as he refuses to speed up himself and falling back to retarded soulshit of waiting for the enemy to attack him instead of prioritizing enemies and being ready to evade if the prioritized enemy hasn't died but the same is for any actionchad trying to play soulshit games where the need to lock on and rely on a crutch button after the enemy's attack phase ends instead of positioning yourself and enemy prioritizing will make them fail until they slow down and look for the items that give bonuses.Yep, that's why I compared it to 3D/3rd person games like ninja gaiden sigma, monster hunter or devil may cry and not Super Meatboy and Hotline Miami.
For me, it's the bonfire mechanic. What separates souls-likes and other third-person action games like ninja gaiden sigma, monster hunter or devil may cry, is that you die far more easily in souls-likes than in those games.
