Stellar Blade / Project Eve Thread - aka Stellar Ass

It’s certainly not boring, but the combat does get repetitive. I think they should’ve leaned more into DMC combat rather than souls-lite
Uugh.. I was afraid I would hear this.
Action combat is a bitch and a half to get right.

Best I've seen in that is TERA at its height.
Everything had a high HP pool, randomized a set of attacks, had good telegraphing and punished you for being an idiot.

Most action combat games I've seen since tera failed have low hp trash mobs (looking at YOU Black Desert) and/or bosses that have janky hit/dodge connection and shittier telegraphing (looking at you fromsoft).

They can make a real coomer game and release it exclusively on PC but their sales will be affected.
Upward.
Consoles are absolute shit.
It's been a decade since they were significantly cheaper over time than PC's.

I hate the trend of copying fromsoft combat. Like I love fromsoft games how they are, but it really doesn’t work outside of what that company makes. They kinda killed the action genre because now every game wants to be a souls-lite. I miss fun hack and slash games.

People worship fromsoft for having ridiculous combat difficulty, but most of that difficulty comes from straight-up jank.

You think you're close enough to land a hit based on every other game you've played but you whiff nothing but air.
You go to swing and sometimes your pole-arm goes through columns, other times it gets blocked.
You attempt to dodge and end up with a face full of blood anyway.
You lock on but it doesn't work and your pole-arm goes through the floor instead of into the boss.

By all means if you like it you like it, but let's not pretend it's not jank.

Yet we still haven’t reached the point where games are being buried in the desert.
We have.

If your standard is literally being burried in a desert, not going to happen due to regulations and digital distribution. If you're talking in spirit, games like Mass Effect Andromeda being dropped into Goodwill by the pallet, or Last of Us 2 being given away and shoved into discount resellers by the box are the same thing.

>Palworld: Chink slop with a predictably short lifespan
What do mean? Palworld still has more than twice players than Suicide Squad or Saints Row ever had at their peak. It still has more players than Lethal Company, Dragons Dogma 2, Rocket League, and Ark. I don't see anyone claiming those games are dead.

Okay, further into the game at the point of getting sidequests and definitely on 1.0 (saw the Hard R Shop), I see solid evidence of a third outfit having been censored, the Chinese dress "Moutan Peony" .
Earlier, this picture was getting passed around, but the source was unclear, so some people were calling it fake especially since "Moutan Peony" is confirmed to have the leggings in 1.0.

But now I know the source. The very first time you pick up an outfit blueprint, a tutorial message pops up with a short video showing examples of different outfits, and one of them is "Moutan Peony" with bare legs.
1714285822750.png

So yeah, it appears that "Moutan Peony" was censored prior to 1.0 as I half-suspected previously, this tutorial video neglected from being updated accordingly. Funny that when I made that guess before, I thought the censorship might've just been in covering the hips since it appears that the outfit already has stockings going up to the thighs. But no, turns out that there was once neither leggings nor stockings, just all leg.

A final possibility is that there's actually a bare-legged "Moutan Peony" as a variant option in NG+, but I highly doubt it. Any variants are probably just recolors, like the "V2" orange version of the default outfit.

These people quite literally want their opposition dead.

On a different subject though, other than the song “star descent” (which is at the very start of the game) I’m having trouble hearing Keiichi Okabe music in this game. Maybe he just changed up his style for this game, but I’m not hearing much “Nier-like” music. Ah, whatever.
I was watching E;r play this game and I can hear it in the vocalist, but I do think the score problem has to do with the world itself being not fleshed out enough, so he can't get a feel for what atmosphere he's supposed to convey. I have my complaints about Automata, but it handles its theme of death very well. Stellar Blade copied Automata's world building, but not as well, like they really thought that 2Butt was the focus of that game. So, I'm asking myself why anything is happening because it does seem like the plot is really barebones. How does Global Warming lead to a bunch of monsters inhabiting the surface. Why are they trying to take back the planet when they've got a functioning colony?

No wonder he has an anime girl as a vtuber. This guy looks like a borderline weeaboo.
Rev Says Desu is a tranny worshipping faggot grifter who keeps wanting troon representation into anime. He should not be watched.
You should write me one. I'm broke as shit.

Anyway, gay as fuck they censored. Guess it was the smart move to wait on the purchase. If they uncensor later maybe I'll buy it. For now I'm not supporting duplicitous actions like this.

Man with games being so shitty I'm actually saving so much. Thanks DEI!
At least you are able to find some silver lining in all this. Remember, games now are pushing for u to spend 70 dollars. Just how many games can you think of nowadays are worth spending that much? I cant say for sure but I think I can count them all with one hand.

I'm about to finish the second open area. Done nearly all sidequests besides fishing since fuck that shit. Also got the mystery gauge up to 100%. Anything else I'm missing for the true ending?

Just because you think some stupid bullshit and spill it out doesn't make it true.
I've experienced it first hand and watched it on streams.
Fromsoft makes games that are aesthetically beautiful, but I've seen mobile games with crisper combat mechanics, particularly in hit connection, targeting, and combat consistency.

Mark Kern has put out a good post RE the Censorship and the "game anti-sex league".
It's a bit of a wall of text but it makes sense: Support ShiftUP for trying, and hit sony as hard as you can.

X has no room for subtle nuance, but let’s try: The fight agains DEI and ESG and BRIDGE is a long term fight. A @StellarBlade @jamm3rd post. “Everyone fights, nobody quits” is my motto. But when that plan meets reality it’s “everyone fights to the best of their ability.” Not everyone can risk being me, putting my real face out there, getting cancelled and death threats for the n-th time. There are millions of you out there who have to fight Anon. And guess what, we get that. That doesn’t make you a coward, that doesn’t mean you sold out and aren’t fighting as hard as you can. And you will make mistakes. And when you do, the important part is to hang together and support each other. The other side does, and this is a source of their strength. Shift Up is fighting to the best of their ability to give you what you want. They *choose* to make games that gamers want, against the tide of DEI/ESG that wants to make this type of game impossible to make. Against the tide of AAA that only wants bland, safe games for the masses. They made some bad marketing choices, and either shipped outfits they liked better, or were silently censored by Sony. In the end, that is less important than the overall win that we are getting here in this long term battle. They are fighting to the best of their ability, and they also make mistakes. Meanwhile companies like Games Workshop and Pokémon Go are actively fighting against you, by their own choice. Shift Up is not the same. They are an ally. But as I’ve said many times on my streams and interviews about Stellar Blade, this is a huge win in the battle against AAA dreck. But in any war you make mistakes and you take casualties. In fact, it’s impossible to win without taking big risks, enduring casualties and losing many battles. Stellar Blade is a fantastic game for its GAMEPLAY and it flies in the face of our DEI/ESG enemies for it’s outfits and outright sexuality. But those enemies are trying to channel your anger against the censorship mistakes in Stellar Blade to DISCREDIT and MOCK the true cause…the fight against wokeness. Don’t let them. Support Shift Up, band together, because they are an ally and have delivered a huge win in this long term fight. As for the mistakes, the marketing censorship flub, the best we can do is point it out and try to fix it. The petition is just that, acting as a consumer voice to try and fix a PR blunder. We don’t know what is stopping them. Creative vision being different than consumer expectation? Sony pulling the strings? The petition may fail too. But in the end we still get our win either way. A very very big win. Stop making enemies out of allies who make mistakes. Stop blackpilling when they don’t agree with your 100%. You are only letting our enemies win while they stick together no matter what. Time to adopt tactics from them…and stay strong, together. I have your back, through your anon and your mistakes. I ask you do the same for all our allies.

Also, He's calling out "narrative engineering" and efforts by PR firms:

That explains the disturbing man-voiced loli avi.

you guys have still not asked the most important question.

is the game actually fun to play?
I'd say it's average to slight above average. The combat is passible but gets extremely repetitive.

It feels a lot like Nier Automata except a lot more serious in tone and without any of the whacky or off the wall stuff Nier does.

My rating so far is 7/10.

Nier Automata was brilliantly engineered player psychology.
About the time the combat starts to get "stale" is when the narrative starts to reveal you've been manipulated by lies all along.
It's all designed to make you as tired of fighting as the protagonist.

Yes exactly, Steller Blade has some superficial resemblances with the combat and music but literally none of the creativity.
