I really enjoy Steven Universe and I think it's a very solid show. It also just strikes all the right chords for me.
I think it's pretty cool and worth checking out. It's most definitely not for everyone, and it really is more of a "cartoon for teens" than it is for very young children. But I have a feeling the younger audience does enjoy it more than people seem to expect.

I never really found it too disturbing since the closest things the gems have to real bodies are, well, their actual gems. That's the core of their being and the form they take is nothing more than a convenience really. So it never really struck me as any kind of body horror.Also, does anyone else think that the concept of "gem fusion" is really disturbing?
Stevonnie, the fusion of a half-human and a full human. It's kind of sweet, since fusion is very clearly about emotional closeness, but since Steven's part human and Connie doesn't have a gem at all it is a bit creepier.
