okay, so they did an 11 minute musical episode.
It was fucking cancer.

Whatever, nigga (and I ain't a fan of musicals in my cartoons, either. Still...).

Yeah, a majority of these latest episodes are pretty much filler - but at least it's good filler. Positive character development is always a plus in a show like this, which is what I'm getting at when I say this is good filler.

The song in DKC are weird. Like, sometimes the lyrics will be awful but the singers are great.
And other times... Well, let's just say Diddy should never have been allowed to sing in the first place.

That said, I think we should get back on track. I'm kinda interested in the last two episodes premiering this week, to be perfectly honest (this coming from a guy who don't particularly like the show and all). Overall, the newest episodes that haven't been leaked thus far feel the most interesting compared to most of the others.

So Peridot can control metal with her mind, Steven's telepathic dream powers can actually let him go into someone's mind and control them...I'm actually digging all these development of powers and such. Plus it was fun to see the Shorty Squad hang out and everything.

As for the musical episode, I liked it a lot. It's nice to see Greg not go money-crazy( the typical "money goes to their head and makes them a snooty jerk" trope you see a lot) and it was nice to see something really good happen to him. And we finally got some closure with the whole Pearl/Greg rivalry thing.

Looking forward to what comes next this season.

I just saw a sneak peek at a new episode this week, and its something I've been waiting for for a long time. Needless to say, I am hyped.

I feel like "Alone at Sea" would've been a bit better if they'd shortened the first part of the episode a bit. The conflict with Jasper feels just a little underdeveloped. And of course (assuming the next two weeks aren't entirely plot-advancing episodes) it's gonna be a while before we ever see her again.

But I have a soft spot for Lapis (and especially the S.S. Misery joke), so it evened out in the end I guess.

I like the show's designs. It has a very pleasant artstyle. And some of the worldbuilding is nice.
Although, I think the characters are kind of shallow. I mean, it's a kids show, sure, so that's to be expected, but it presents itself as high-quality. It'd be nice if half the characters weren't able to do no wrong.

I will give the show one thing: That episode was actually pretty good. Nice hints of things that may yet come, Centipeetle got character development and a bit more lore and plot building.

How far are you in? The character depth and such starts coming up near the end of the first season and continues from there.

That's one of the problems I got with the series- It's lore is usually only hinted at more often than not. And when we do get something, it's not well-explained. This was especially so earlier in the run. Hell I'd argue this was the main problem with the first couple Stevenbombs.
