Based from what I remember regarding animation and design from previous years; It's for simplicity. The easier your style is to animate, the less it costs.
Tumblr caught on to this, it was more so noticeable when the Tumblr art style started leaking into some shows more. I don't think it helps that a lot of CalArt students are coming from Tumblr or take inspiration from said places believing that they have a chance at making a show like SU or StarVS
It's the opposite of Japanese Animation. Cheap, easy, available tard passion from autists and you have a western animation.

The current style of art that most cartoons go for is cheaper to do. Now-a-days the story is all they have left to redeem themselves and even then, that's debatable at times.

On a similar note of autistic passion, I think Western Animation is otherwise doomed to be CalArt's degrading bitch if it keeps going the way it does. I don't know what animation school is like, but I highly doubt that they're teaching anything proper for animation that doesn't fit their cookie cutter.
Not only is simple art cheap for animation, it's easier for people to copy.

It's not surprising that Steven Universe, of all things, would want to be so progressive that it would shit out a half-ass "Racism is bad" and get ratioed for it.
But you want to know funny about this message is that it's doing more harm than good.
According to Garnet, black and white folk are much likey to shame for marrying one another where in reality, it's the complete opposite.
You're more likely to be called out for being in a straight white marriage than in a gay black trans one, and you'll get have the entre media down your through if you have happened to have certain views and beliefs that go against the progressive agenda.
Also, let talk about the part when she says, "you have to acknowledge racism to work against racism" ironic enough, the opposite is true.
By acting as if racism exists everywhere, you actually make it stronger, not weaker, because you are telling everyone to notice things that aren't that big of a deal and then act as if it this great sin that must be called out at all times and everyone becomes paranoid and afraid of being called racist themselves.
This is why so many anti-racism training has utterly backfired because they're constantly telling people that everything racist, everything political, and you have to point it all out.
If anything, the only true way to fight against racism is not to treat them like everyday normal human beings.
That's it.

In short, kids today are raised more by video games than TV, and others are raised by their tablets/phones which show nothing but hours upon hours of creepy Youtube Kids content which at worse will only make them foot or fart fetishists, so I'd rather deal with a brat who fantasizes about huffing feet or a brat who says Gamer words in public than one who grows up to be a pedophilic /co/fag or a Tom Preston clone.

Anti-racism is a way for the Democrats to force people to side with them and actively promote their ideology by phrasing it as the only solution to racism.
