Steven Universe - Now a Griefing Thread

I can't say whether or not it compares to Adventure Time, because I haven't watched too much of that, but the serious stuff is always very measured, it always feels like it fits in the same universe as the light hearted goofy stuff (at least to me).

Also, Garnet is objectively the best gem, and I will fight anyone who says otherwise.
Note: I won't actually fight you, but I will silently judge you.

Thought so well i will watch a few more episodes so i can form a better opinion on it,I like Pearl also but Garnet is awesome so far because of dat accent doe.Also Amethyst is cool also funny and quirky and awesome.

So I watched a few episodes I'm on Episode 6 and my impression so far is that I like it,The characters are not annoying and kinda feel like real people (in a sense of how they act in different situations).Mostly all the main characters are likeable Steven,Gary,Pearl etc and such,So I think I'm gonna like this series.

And also I am going to avoid Steven Universe Tumblr stuff,I saw some shit man.....Never again.

I probably will it's like with some of my favorite medias that i like Naruto,Jojo, and FNAF etc it's werido on the internet that ruin things that i like.

I find it somewhat enjoyable, though the fanbase kinda ruins it for me. It's like Avenged Sevenfold. I like their music, but the fanbase mainly consists of fat, repugnant goth girls so I tend to consider them a guilty pleasure more than a legitimately good band to disassociate myself from the fanbase. Steven Universe is the same way. I've watched episodes and enjoyed them, but the creators cater too much to the Tumblr crowd, which makes me tend to distance myself from it.

Out of all the gems featured on the show, my two favorites are Garnet and Jasper. I like the former because she's a badass, and the latter because I've always been a fan of villains (and Jasper's pretty badass, too).

Lapis is rather forgettable and a bit of an ass; at least Peridot and Jasper act and feel like legit antagonists. I get where @darwin2288 is coming from with this. Agreed on Garnet, definitely, however - with Amethyst in 2nd out of 2 (Pearl sucks and annoys me, royally - fucking Ballerina Bitch...).

That's another reason I don't watch it all the time. Because of the whole "we're not going to have traditional antagonists" approach. Like, that's fine, you wanna do something different. But in the end it just amounts to "who are they fighting this time? Oh, ANOTHER monster with no personality that doesn't talk or anything?" I get that some things don't really require an antagonist, but for a show like Steven Universe it's more necessary. That's why I enjoy episodes with characters like Jasper and Peridot (and Lapis, to a lesser extent). Because antagonists like them feel more meaningful and important than if they're just fighting another mindless monster.

I don't really consider her one either, though she did have an antagonistic role in her debut appearance.

I liked Lapis but tumblr's weird-ass obsession with shipping her and Peridot (and jasper) and consequently filling in characterization that was missing and doing a shitty job of it made me place her and peridot in the "meh" category, though recent episodes have made me start to like them again, to remain spoiler-free.
