The voting period for the
SKG Community Game Jam recently ended. The theme of the jam was "Limited Lifetime." Results haven't come out yet for whatever reason, but from what I played, here are some of the standout entries:
Bonekeeper
A Sokoban-esque puzzle game where you have to guide skeletons to their graves before they crumble. Very polished and well designed.
Hog Hunters Online
Finish a raid in an MMO about hunting wild hogs, in the minutes before the servers are shut down. Very SOVLful, made me smile.
BloodWraith
A Hotline Miami-like where you survive by drinking blood. Feels amazing to play, and even the scribbly MS Paint style gives it a unique visual identity. If there were an award for best middle school/high school project, this one would get it.
The Postman
You are a mail bot, you juggle sorting packages and making sure you don’t fall apart. Surprisingly fun, animations are very well done.
Dead Service
A point-and-click adventure about hosting a server for a dead game. Made in Pico-8.
Parasite
Basically golf, but you're a parasite jumping from human to human. Deceptively simple and fun, also enjoyed the minimal Flash-esque visual style.
Obsoletion
A short sci-fi VN with a bit of meta-commentary on SKG. Very well made. Might sound like "le irony dating sim" from the description, but it's not.
New York Minute
You are a journalist trapped in a cult bunker being chased by a smoke monster. Pretty standard find-8-pages-like, feels pretty polished for a game jam game.
Erasure
If I had a nickel for every submission that was a short sci-fi VN with meta-commentary about SKG, I’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice
Laibee is Sure!
A platformer in which you are a small bird with a short lifespan, determined to reach your goals. Very charming, love the visuals.
Till I Fall
Roll a die around a board. Whatever number it lands on, you gain that many points, but that many pieces fall off the board. Survive as long as you can.
Inevitable
A short VN about terminal illness. Remember, this jam’s theme was “Limited Lifetime.”
Magical Witch Runner
Kino. Peak. Absolute genre-defining spine-tingling gemerald.
