I'm not American so I'm not entirely aware of what things are in place but I'm sure someone on this forum can give examples of government plans that allow those with less income to get medical care. Hell, I bet you can find someone on this forum who was on one or is currently on one.

I think she mentioned her father is military? Then she should be covered under Tricare, which takes care of a lot of stuff. I know that when I was dealing with psych shit Tricare footed a lot of the bill, and there was just stuff like rather affordable copay for meds.

Really it depends on the clinic. Because my father - like Kayla's - was USN, I've had Tricare most of my life, and what I learned is that quite a few clinics don't accept Tricare insurance. Unfortunately, Kayla might learn this little tidbit in the future and use that as an excuse for why she hasn't found a mental health professional to tell her she's just a whiny little brat.

I'm not sure what Texas offers, but in my state there is a state insurance (I'm in Indiana and it's called HIP; "Healthy Indiana Plan") and it's for people with low/no income. Takes a lot of paperwork to go through and their billing system is pretty buggy but it's better than nothing. I'm pretty sure a lot of states offer that sort of thing, if not all of them, but I'd honestly have to look into it.

It's true, the worst thing for a tranny to do is quietly transition while being courteous and professional to co-workers and families as they adjust to what is the new normal. I mean, how are we expected to score Tumblr Oppression Points otherwise!
The best thing for any tranny to do is be loud and obnoxious during transition while making no concession at all to fit in as the "new" gender.
