While I am more than my actual sticker count, i'd like to be able to see the ratio of posts shat to updoots received.
Follow along with the video below to see how to install our site as a web app on your home screen.
Note: This feature may not be available in some browsers.
The thread keeps track of where you left off already. My issue with getting rid of the stickers is less about wanting to see my updoots, and more that it's making it harder to navigate to threads I am active in. A reaction to my most recent post provides a very convenient link to where I last left off in the thread. Which is very useful, especially in a fast moving thread.
doesn't always work for me since I use a cell phone tether that changes my IP constantly. Not a big deal though, I should just introduce myself to the bookmarking feature and watched threads feature. Never had to bother with em before though since engagement alerts basically combined the two.The thread keeps track of where you left off already.
It works based on account.my IP constantly
It breaks if you don't check the thread for awhile. The thread keeps track of where you left off already.
I'll change something tonight but no promises.Dear Null, instead of making kiwifarms.st show reactions received (with a wildly incorrect count of the reactions), may you please fix the onion so that I do not have to restart tor browser every 20 minutes to use the website?
Thank you.
An addition to this:Since people crucially require upvote notes to navigate the site and don't actually use it for monkeybrained affirmation, I thought up a potential compromise that will make everybody happy.
- Bring back sticker notes for people who turn them on.
- Make them always appear as dumb ratings in the notifications feed
- Every time you get one the "SARGON NEEDS MORE DOPAMINE" sound clip plays really loudly.
- Every time you click one it adds the "OOOO, MORE SERATOOOONIN" part
What Josh said here is 100% the case. This forum is not and should not be reddit or a reddit substitute and the forum and any reasonable website should stay as far away from such a model as humanly possible as such a karma system obviously rewards circlejerking by the way it's structured. This forum should not have systems that encourage such lowly behavior. Now we were far away from such a model to begin with, the step of removing reaction score is more steps in the right direction overall. I do understand there will be downsides to this, but I believe it will a net positive for the forum.I also do not want people to think anyone is keeping score, or that violating consensus is going to punish them, affect how they can use the site, or cause other people to adjust their initial perspectives on your content.
The issue I'm seeing is that people do take the system too seriously. The other issue is people are relying on it too much. It is not a good thing that so many people rely on the reaction system to even know where they're posting or what page in the thread they're at. These should be other systems.
Can you come up with a system that allows us to keep track of short term activity in threads we've recently posted in, occasional reminders at random intervals of old threads we've may have posted in months or years ago when it gets activity again, a rough gauge on how users may have viewed our post and have it all available in one handy place on the same page i'm reading now?The issue I'm seeing is that people do take the system too seriously. I want people to be able to see what people think about their posts and come to reasonable conclusions about if that should inform how they post. If you expect your post will be welcomed and it is not, you know you're off the mark. If you expect negativity because you're going against the grain, you probably won't care people aren't praising you. This is the kind of feedback I want to see and how I would like posters to interpret that information.
What I do not want is high intensity emotional or reactive engagement.

So it's a mixture of things and I really believe that encouraging people to adjust behaviors now is a good idea. I don't want to be restrained in my flexibility of addressing problems because there is this unintentional use case built up around it.
