Super Mario RPG Remake - coming soon

To be fair the Shell armor already makes you effectively invinsible..so all you would get is Tiddies of Peach and Daisy. Which you can get on google so even with those it wouldn't be worth it.
Ah, but these would be canonical Peach and Daisy tiddies.

I wonder if this is part of it. I'm willing to bet there's a lot more censorship and less creative freedom, these days.
TImes changed, now Square goes out of its way to censor itself.

Right? Mallow would be so much better.
If they can include Steve and Pirhanna Plant, they can include both Geno and Mallow. And while they're at it, Smithy or some other villain (Booster or Johnny would be good).

Just beat the game in slightly under 15 hours (play-time). Not sure if a 15-hour game is really worth $60, but I don't regret buying it. Especially since I replay SMRPG once every year or two, and I enjoyed this enough that it's probably going to be my new way of replaying the game.

Edit: Looks like there's some post-game content.
You get sent back to just before fighting Smithy, and you go around fighting the past bosses. When you beat them, they drop really good equipment. I assume, at least. I just beat Belome again, and he dropped the Sage Stick, which is better than the Sonic Cymbals for Mallow. On a related note, make sure you have Peach with the Lazy Shell armor and the Safety Badge for that fight, because Belome's attacks put the whole party to sleep.

Edit: Yeah, got two more weapons. Not sure if it's only going to be weapons, or if there will be armor and/or accessories too.

I still think it should be Paper Mario. Distinct from regular Mario, unique art style and moves, main playable character of his games, lots of games as opposed to just one, has an actively continuing game series.
I'd even settle for a tweaked version of Mario, like Toon Link, I just want to see Paper Mario included. And for regular Mario, his different art styles between games should be available (SM64 low poly Mario, M&L version, etc).

It's more just the modern video game economy.

Developers/Publishers realize that the most financially successful titles are multiplatform and it's almost never worth taking an exclusivity deal unless it's on a short timer or the company is paying a stupid amount of money for it (aka Epic Games). It isn't just Square and FF - Kingdom Hearts 3, 2, and 1 went to Xbox also. Metal Gear went multi platform, as did Yakuza and Judgement off the top of my head.

So if someone bought Super Mario RPG for Switch, would it be worth it to use your old SNES Nintendo strategy guide while playing through the game or should I just find a walkthrough online and print it out for the Switch version, in terms of the SNES guide working for the Switch version just as well as it does for the SNES version?

This game got a remake, and I really doubt anyone saw that coming. Nostalgia should not be underestimated.
Great game too. Really satisfied my city building god complex autism.

Almost done with SMRPG. It’s certainly easy, but I love the presentation and pacing. Music was a huge improvement in most cases. Visuals were beautiful.

They were definitely fucking with kids with the quiz rooms though.

I haven't finished the game yet, but outside of the game making you test out the new features and a couple of quality of life things, it's the exact same game*.

*I have seen ONE screen that isn't the same as the original, it's rotated 90 degrees and changes literally nothing

Oh, nice. If you miss the hidden chest in the ship, the duplicate Mario respawns later.

On a related note, if you're trying to figure out which chests you missed because you're 90% sure you got all of them, it's the mimics. You need to go back after beating them to hit the chest again.

Got it yesterday. It's nice how (this being a remake of a 96 game) a lot of the tracks have that classic Mario sound. Right at the intro with chibi Peach I'm hearing remixed Mario 3.
Good shit. Also why are chibi Mario and Peach so cute? I love them.
I really like the style they went with but I also kind of wish they kept the diorama look they were clearly going for in the original. I know they already used that for the link's awakening remake so that's probably why they didn't but it would have added a bit more charm seeing that aesthetic in HD I think.

This remake is good and definitely worth the money. On top of faithfully recreating almost every dialogue and scene one-for-one, the new visuals and sound give it a nice new look.

Battles are outright better than the original now that there's actual visual feedback for things like perfectly guarding and exploiting spell weaknesses.

Difficulty-wise the game is still virtually effortless (and they even added an easy mode lol) outside of Culex and the newly added post-game. The game's actually easier in some ways since you can now freely switch teammates midfight and the reworked inventory gives you a whole trove of items (albeit with max capacities for specific items that get lower the stronger the item is). Speaking of which some of those post-game bosses will really fuck your shit up if you're not going in with a good plan, loadout, and an ability to hit your guards which was refreshing after breezing through the main game without a single death. Not even a lazy shell equipped Peach will keep you safe for long if you keep botching the guards.

I've got a few minor nitpicks here and there with some of the changes but it's still a great remake that clearly respects the source material, which makes sense given that a good deal of the original staff worked on it.

The post-game Culex fight isn't that bad.
Each turn, he'll count down to his ultimate move (4, 3, 2, 1, 0/Attack). If you're at max health, it'll just bring you down to 1 HP, and then you can use a party-healing item (Finless Cola should be fine, you don't need to waste your Croaka Cola). If you're at less than full-health, it'll insta-kill you (which can't be protected against), so make sure you top yourself off when he reaches 1.

Just ignore the elemental crystals and focus solely on him. When you kill him, the crystals will restore him at full health, shattering themselves in the process (all of them at once, not one at a time). Don't kill the crystals, because they'll buff Culex and the other Crystals when they die, unless they're shattering themselves to revive him.

After that, just kill him again. He'll change his attack to Final Claw, which does 9999 damage to one of your party members. On the bright side, this can be guarded against, unlike his other attack, so you just need to block it. Or revive whichever party member died.

I recommend using Mario, Bowser, and Peach.
Of course, I figured this out over the course of several battles (had to use Earlier Times a few times), so it took me 48 turns to beat him (Culex tells you how many turns it took you to beat him).
