I'm genuinely surprised he didn't say it was a culture issue, since the V has different meanings in the west.

I think Miyamoto does more harm than good at this point.

People who saw they early footage only being able to complain about Frogfucius's renaming and the victory animation change is telling about how faithful this remake is overall.

Those are both insignificant changes at the end of the day for me, and I'm glad younger gens will have better access to a great rpg that otherwise seemed left behind.

I honestly get the vibe that Miyamoto kind of fucking hates American Mario fans because they take the shit so fucking seriously.

Like, when he's asked questions in interviews about Bowser Jr.s mom and shit like that, he reminds me of those videos where someone will ask George Lucas a really stupid fucking question that isn't important and it's obvious as fuck he's annoyed and just makes up something on the spot to shut them the fuck up.

I am starting to understand why he thought story was such a bad thing in the paper mario games and shit. And I kind of want to believe that the only reason he got rid of the V sign was because every American autist he had to deal with did it to him and it offended HIM to see so many cringemongers doing it.

They should add the option to store items somewhere. If you carrying too much and want to keep a item store it, store it at the store like in paper Mario or be able to leave items at your house. And they should have a bank to store coins. I saw a YouTube commercial they are making tomb raider the first three games on one disc for the switch where you can toggle between old graphics and new graphics they should have added that but then again they might be afraid too because some people would use the old graphics more maybe but it’s a cool idea for tomb raider the old music and new music toggle idea is okay.

I really wish Luigi would join your party and fight with you!!! Back in 1996 I just simply could not comprehend the idea that Luigi was not in the game at all! In paper Mario games you see Luigi but he never joins you, “no human or non-monster joins you on paper mario.” On mario and Luigi superstar saga I was glad Luigi joins you and can fight with you but then I was like, wait a second ONLY Luigi can join you? Then they had the game where you have mario and Luigi and a SECOND mario is follow you so you have three characters to fight with and one is a paper Mario and the other is a 3D mario. Make Luigi a hidden character that joins you, or make it so you have to beat the game first and then on a second run you can get Luigi to join you early on

Can confirm that the castle entranceway frog coin that you only get one opportunity to get in the entire game is still there, and a little harder to get this time around. Same method as before, save at the hotel before you enter the castle, then ride on Toad's head and jump off when he stops for a second to open the door

This is the same as the old version, all the way down to Mario only being able to move in eight directions. This is just a graphical upgrade.

I think he only forced out the V Sign because Japan sees it as childlike, imo girly. You only see Japanese children and young women doing the V Sign. Which yeah is so funny because to the west Richard Nixon and Winston Churchill were photographed with the gesture.

I don’t think Miyamoto has done this out of malice, it’s just that he’s understandably viewed as a God amongst men in the gaming industry. And so his opinions are treated like Gospel, and that’s compounded further by Japanese culture which already has the whole conception that your boss man is someone you give high respect towards.

Take the storybook cutscenes in Mario Galaxy that gives Rosalina an origin story. Miyamoto has gone on record that he hates that he hates that stuff especially in a Mario game. The team snuck it in behind his back and because you don’t have to view them he didn’t blow a gasket. That’s not how a tyrant operates, he could have easily just told them to 86 it period.

Probably one day in the office Miyamoto said “I don’t like Mario using the v sign cut it out.” And then it became a new word from God when really he just wanted Mario to have different poses. He didn’t object to it being in SMW and 64 and those games were made within 5 years with him as the director.
