Hax has a side hustle selling 250$ b0xx controllers for smash (e.g. https://b0xx.com/). His whole deal was he fucked up his hands so badly playing the game that he couldn't use normal controllers etc.

Man, wouldn't someone feel really stupid if they paid some guy $250 for a controller that plays a 20 year old fighting game and they woke up and he was featured content on the kiwifarms... .

They wouldnt feel stupid at all cause the controller works as advertised and fixes a lot of the issues the Gamecube-controller has

That video makes me want to go back in time to 1998, and tell Masahiro Sakurai that if he releases SSB, a new form of untreatable and unbearable autism will plague gamers everywhere, and if he still doubts me, I'll just show him Hax's thesis paper video to erase any doubt he may have.

Oh he's definitely aware. You can see how much it weighs on him in his eyes in every single video. I think japanese fans might be even worse.

There's certain tech that can be done easier on the hitbox style controller which riles up these autists even though it won't necessarily make you a better player right away

Same principle as going from pad to stick, only you're going from pad to keyboard and the obligatory hypocrisy is that this is also the community that are also fine with people needing certain broken controllers to actually be able to do certain tech

I have arthritis in my hands so I'm switching over to hitbox style controllers when playing fighting games. I pre-ordered this b0xx controller so it's not as if I actually have it yet (but was under the impression it'd ship sometime this month.) This really doesn't give me a good feeling about my pre-order....
