All of the alts are already up on the Smash website; it's not one of them, unfortunately.
I have no doubt Steve mods are going to be easy to make though, so the chances of it happening as a mod are more likely than not.

Now that I think about it, they just should've let you import in Minecraft skins to use in-game offline, as well as your own Villagers and Inklings if you own their respective games similar to how Miis work for fun, but that's probably too much effort. I don't like having to buy legacy Mii Costumes twice.

Don’t forget that Chrom is a costume as well. Travis may still have a chance, but it doesn’t seem too likely.

Since Steve seems pretty gimped without resources it looks like the right play against Steve players will be to put pressure on them so they can't mine resources.

He looks like a trapper kind of character, so I was wondering how good he'd be as a counter to Sonic. Specifically those Sonic players in tourneys who'll take one stock and spend the rest of the match running around until time's out. That pissed a lot of people off and made them hate Sonic IIRC.

No character is banned, the "ban Hero" thing didn't last very long because Hero without great rng isn't that good. Most people are too busy complaining about Joker to care about Hero in my experience.

I find it amusing that Steve is the "Zoomer slot" yet he looks to be the most complicated character yet. It's like Robin's durability management dialed to 100.

At any rate as already pointed out, I don't believe he'll be broken. There's so much that needs to be kept track of thanks to just about his entire moveset being resource-based that I can only foresee mishaps galore with attacks being gimped or executed poorly. That said though his edgeguarding potential looks fucking terrifying in the right hands. Half his kit looks specifically designed to fuck you over the moment your ass is off-stage.

Rushdowns will definitely be his weakness. Can't string together attacks if you can't find the time to amass the materials to pull them off.

They don't even play it with items on, or on interesting stages..or on anything relevant to the actual game that 99% of people play.

Chrom was a costume in 4 if I remember correctly. Even though he's got a costume in Ultimate, there isn't a character who became a costume and was added as DLC afterwards in the same game.
