Square enix doesnt own the tracks, they belong to the artists and it has always been this way

A year or 2 ago I made a few shitpost stages based around Kingdom hearts. One of them was the door to darkness where the floor just immediately collapses and the only thing keeping you afloat is the wind currents. Ironically this turns out to be one of the best possible stages for Sora with his stupid "lighter than every other character but also able to airdash" thing. Another one was just a crudely built ansem flying around in the background spazzing out as the mario and luigi 3 final boss theme made by the same composer as Kingdom Hearts plays. Once this update drops I might change the music on them for online matches with friends.

Yeah this is what bothers me. Kingdom Hearts' music composer does the music for SEVERAL nintendo games, Ultimate included. Hell, one of the Kingdom Hearts' tracks is almost a 1 to 1 remaster of a mario song she made.

Ironically, it was also the game geno was in, not fucking kidding here.

A quick google search reveals that the KH music copyright is owned by 4 companies: Toshiba-EMIA, Virgin records, Walt disney records and square enix so no, its not that easy

It gets better,in a FF14 article where people were asking for a KH collab, the high echelons of Square Enix aka the guys that literally make the game said that they absolutely despise dealing with KH, releasing a Kingdom heart game is such a massive pain in the ass legally that they only do it after Disney stop ruining their own IP's and get a little more flexible about it
