Supporting the Forum

Okay, so if I had an on-site purchase system, what sort of things would people b interested in seeing? Would people join a subscription system just to contribute or would you expect something special in return?
I'd like to pay to be your proofreader, you illiterate fuck.

A sub system would be great. Maybe something like a super donor banner in return for really big subs, but let people choose whether or not they want them.

Being able to choose the sub period would be good, too.

I'm all in favour of a on-site donation system.

My only real want would be to allow someone to do repeatable one time donations, with the amount decided by the user.

While I like the idea of having a fixed subscription style donation system, sometimes, my financial situation prevents me from comfortabley donating to such a plan.

Also, this would be conivent if someone wants to be generous and donate a fairly large amount of money one time.

I'm thinking of giving a T&HF banner to anyone who's ever donated and then special titles.

The way I see it, the expenses of this site are about $1000/mo right now. 10 people donating $100/mo fix the site permanently, 20 people doing $50/mo fix it, and 50 people doing $20/mo fix it. That should be easily achievable. I want to do gold/silver/bronze tiers named like "1 in 10 Club" and "1 in 20 Club" etc but I also don't want to expose how much people donate, because I think that'd discourage some people.

i think i'd be happy just to be able to throw a couple of bucks towards the site whenever, don't know that i'd really want anything. i like the idea of user banners, though. could have a selection of ones themed towards certain large cows if you want to do something more creative than just "donator"

ie if you mostly read KF for DSP or ALR, some gay banner with a relevant catchphrase etc

Having a stock of limited-use "superlike" reactions would be a great thing for an ongoing subscription, since your stock would replenish every payment term. Or you could purchase even more of them separately if you really want to spread the shekel-love.

But to be completely honest, I'm happy just contributing to the continuing existence of the forum. It's great. There's no other place like it.
Maybe some kind of Kiwi-Gold, as a play on plebbit?

That being said, I'm sure people would donate just to donate if you made a more obvious/accessible method of doing so(BTC is super hard, guyz). Then again, people love spending money on silly things, so flairs, emotes, limited use ratings, gift ratings, etc would probably be pulls. One thing I think would be a bad idea is anything that would affect the quality of the actual site content/articles.

Also, how is the add service coming along, and will users be able to buy adds directly for the site? I can see a lot of people being down for that.

Give donors the ability to change their name color/font. People crave cosmetics, look how much it makes EA.
That or "donator" profiles where their user profiles are different in some way, like a special background or color scheme.

Just DON'T give people public-facing changes based on amount donated. Like everyone gets the same benefits no matter the amount, publicly.
However, privately they could get access to super top secret donorfag circle chats.

I would imagine that a system where you use real money to buy Kiwi Currency could work:
  • Ability to buy forum extras
    • Username Flairs
    • Force your signature to show on every forum
    • Exclusive or custom reacts
    • Hidden sub-forums based on Kiwi wealth
    • Name changes
    • Change other people's avatars against their will by "outbidding" them
  • Ability to "tip" or send users some of your Kiwi Currency
  • Can buy things from other users via Kiwi Currency (Commission avatars, art or other stuff)

just write them a personal message to <<username>> how much it means to you and spend the rest of your time on improvments that benefit all forum users.
This, more or less. Just write a thank you note and maybe an occasional message to supporters on what you're working on will suffice. I don't need an extra special feature I'll probably never use and, just a note about fundraising, personal touches go a long way towards retention.

Oh, and for it to be easy enough for my boomer brain to figure out how to send you money.

Honestly I’d join for nothing, but I have a few ideas.
-Special titles like ‘kiwifarms official x’, ‘Autistically x’
-Subscriber only streams, where they can give feedback/pitch ideas for streams or the forum itself directly/or just watch you dick around (if you have time of course)
-High paying subscribers could request emotes or new reactions (I’d be willing to make them if needed)
-Maybe a chat room where everyone can jerk each other off for spending money

More stupid shit like special ratings for higher subscription tiers. Also, do like a monthly giveaway for a Steam code or something for people who donate/subscribe. People like that stuff.

Most people here really like the services you already provide, and personally, I don’t need anything else to keep a subscription up. If it helps you, it helps the site, and it helps me by giving entertainment during horribly boring work meetings.

Also, prior to becoming a current subscriber, I was looking into 1776hosting for a simple VPS, but wanted my True and Honest badge. I don’t think many know of the hosting you provide, so perhaps a little self-insert wouldn’t hurt.

This. Archive.is gets fuck all donations because you have to sign up for an obscure payment processor to send them money. Most people just want to give their payment details without having to join yet another service.

By contrast, my VPN service also uses an obscure payment processor but you don't have to sign up separately. You just enter your payment details on the VPN provider's site and the processor sends you an email about 10 days before the next payment is due to be taken.
