Supporting the Forum

? OK, this being the only forum I've ever used, my idea's prolly been done on other forums before. But it's my only idea, so here it is:

I use the "Follow" function as a kind of "Like" for particular users that I generally appreciate. How 'bout taking this approach and creating the ability to award another user with some thing similar, like a medal, for example. Each month, donators could pin a medal to a user's profile (or users' profiles) they feel to be especially deserving. The medals could be simple, like the "Semper Fi", or there could be the option for the giver to assign the reason (or there could be multiple medals with varying purposes.) The medals could be collected on the profile page, like war trophies, or they could just disappear after the month is up.

Something Awful's idea of attaching something humiliating to another user is ingenious. It's of course fun to abuse people. There is in it an important community aspect. If the idea's been marred by SA, it could be spun into this opposite direction.

My main concern with providing more rewards (especially cosmetics) for donating is that it signals to all users who the more dedicated users are and, in turn, non-donating users may change their opinion to those of the dedicated users as well as jerk those dedicated users off for the sake of fitting in. While there is the "True and Honest Fan" tag, this "cosmetic" is simple and does not differentiate between the most dedicated paypigs and those who just want to help out some times.

Rather than a perk elevating the single donator, as @eldri is concerned with, the medals would bring that broader community aspect.

It's not exactly a cash cow, of course. Maybe it'd work with a handful of other smaller perks that could be bundled together? ?

If we had the ability to pay to give recognition to other users I can guarantee that I would use it a lot

The BTC addresses? Yes.

What donation tier will have you send me an autographed SVT-40?

Also along the lines of what @Haunter was saying, as much as I hate to admit it, Reddit silver/gold/platinum isn't a bad idea. It's easy, doesn't hurt the community by making people feel better/worse than others for having flashy bullshit, and not to mention the desire to collect stupid internet stickers of different types is already ingrained in board culture. His idea is actually the most effective and easy to implement idea without pissing off people with obtrusive bullshit. I personally would love to give quality posters some recognition beyond a sticker on the bottom of their post.

Well damn i thought you only accepted bitcoin. Glad I finally read this...next paycheck i will throw some dirty filthy coins your way via a digital gift card :)

Reddit does something similar with its silver/gold/platinum medals, no reason they couldn't be affixed to "sponsored micrololcow in training." I like this idea.

While we're at it, how many shekels to get the "true and honest fan" badge?

it Would be nice to be able to do one time donation (no crypto) Newproject2 appears to be subscription based only or am I missing something?
Couldn't you just subscribe and then cancel after the first month's payment has gone through?

Hey I am considering using Brave to help the site out, though I am a bit wary because I've seen a lot of internet people shilling Brave.

I'm currently on a variant of Pale Moon. How does Brave stack up?

A local mall recently installed a Bitcoin atm. Has anyone ever used on of those things? If I buy BTC and give it 1EiZnCKCb6Dc4biuto2gJyivwgPRM2YMEQ as the target would I need any additional information or a local wallet to make it work? I am not grasping Bitcoin but this seems like a good way to send funds directly.

Brave is pretty good. It's fast and blocks ads by default. You can add any themes or extension from the Chrome store to it. The BAT thing is pretty neat too, already got 20 BAT just from browsing for a day, and it's really easy to give KF the BAT through the program. I've been using Brave for a while and never had any problems with it. Its faster compared to Pale Moon.

This is my first post using Brave on a mobile android device. Is there some place where I can read some details on how Brave helps KF?

Yeah I'm noticing Brave is way faster than waterfox already but I'd like more details on this to make sure i'm not signing on to some kind of darkweb bitcoin CIA nigger pedo ring scam.

This is not at all to do with delaying because I forgot all my passwords.

For KF and other sites, I use Brave now, and it's building up steam for donating to the site. However , I make sure to delete any other sites than KF in the support section below (Attention section):

I just turn auto contribute off and tip the site when I get tokens. I'm hoping they impliment ads for mobile soon, so I can help out even more.

Anyone found any easy (and obviously preferably non-fraudulent) ways to farm BAT?
