The woman is an Amber Heard level wackjob and responsible for the safety tools and admonitions about cultural appropriation in the Ravenloft book and why you can't call it a Phylactery anymore in DnD. She's probably paid a LOT of money and kept on a very short leash. She's also probably surrounded 24x7 by various form of Jeets, so when she finally does get out of there she's going to accuse eeeeveryone of sexual assault. EEEEVERYONE.

As for what she's actually doing, assuming the past tense terminology of her sentences there means she just hasn't announced being let go already, looks like she's helping make an AI chatbot and training tech writers into how to train AI to replace them. (A lot of her resume is tech writing, so this is her working hard to end her entire career field.)

I havent checked up on kickstarter wargaming's latest victim of a struggle session, Trench Crusade and found out that since February they have completely abandoned twitter for fucking bluesky lmfao, the bluesky has 9.8k followers and dogshit interactions on posts, with some barely scratching the 100 like mark. The last twitter posts could get 5k to 10k likes by now, the twitter has 61k followers

Last twitter post on the 31st of Jan and no retweets while having a bluesky post almost every couple days, i only found out because i saw someone post their full map of the setting's europe, which wasnt posted anywhere else besides discord and bluesky (the discord post itself seemed to have just been a bot posting all their instagram and bluesky posts)

I fucking hate this complete abandonment of actual bespoke sites, even One Page Rules which is eons smaller has its own website with countless update posts coming every couple days, actual faction blurbs, vanity shots ala oldschool white dwarf, model renders/pictures and complete links to all the shit they sell or offer (lore, minis, rules). I get it that Tranch Crusade isnt done yet but holy shit this is the epitome of the most retarded trends in social media, corralling everything to discord and fucking twitter (not even twitter, the retarded alternative full of asshurt progs, amazing). They sell actual products now, there is no excuse for such shit design, their website's shop feature is a barren page with just a link to MyMiniFactory, no images of anything provided

Not really, kinda, they've delivered on the main thing from funding (the STLs, even the physical rewards albeit they were somewhat shitty from what ive heard)
There is still an amount of buzz from battle reports and the like, although progress beyond the intial kickstarter has been pretty slow, they still are working on it like they recieved the minimum and not the smash success it had.
Its not DOA yet but i can see it really crashing and burning. the community even in Reddit is catching on that its not really le warhammer killer and possibly too astroturfed

Its not much, but compared to other battle reports, its pretty hefty, no other skirmish games (Battletech, Infinity, OPR, Blackout) achieve that, and there is plenty of loreslop videos, even a faggoty iceberg from 3 weeks ago at a respectable 45k views.

Its the definition of a big fish in a small pond due to its still current flavour of the month (quarter?) status, most channels double dip on both TC and GW products, so they keep coonsuming the overpriced plastic or atleast the rules, not really representing it as "le warhammer killer" some people want it to be.
Its still doing well, but its all mainly in the perspective of what it is, a niche tabletop wargame, but it will never achieve the buzz that shills would want or even compared to its funding success, imo

It does make me wonder why a company would intentionally limit it's reach. Like it or not X is probably the largest social media platform outside of Asia, same with YouTube. Content creators can only do so much, especially many of the channels promoting the game were on the smaller side even for tabletop content.
You'd think they would be flooding socials with daily or weekly content to keep up the momentum but apparently not. No official paint guides for various factions, just a couple showcase videos, Kickstarter announcements and a single terrain guide on their YouTube channel. Funniest part about the terrain guide is the very visible Warhammer Fantasy 5th edition starter box in the bottom left.

Id actually say that they have that almost sorted, the cone headed Trench Pilgrims are a striking enough image and almost iconic enough to the game as a whole, kitbash or official, if they include the "Capirote", you know its a Trench Pilgrim. The Anchorite and Sin Eater are also unofficialy the literal posterboys since they're on the cover art, and decently iconic enough.
However, minature wise they actually somewhat screwed the pooch by relying on monopose sculpts for anything outside of the two main factions, even though their rulebook just states that you dont need to be WYSISWYG (i.e a guy with a rifle should be represented by a guy with a rifle), tism and attitudes among both warhammer and non warhammer fags has drifted towards that, either for comp fag-ness or just less mental load with proxies. Even Mordheim, the game's inspiration, had upgrade kits that let you turn your regular old empire or skaven figures into their mordheim additions


On the other points, yeah they're relying too hard on the word of mouth still. All the paint guides and showcases, for some reason, have relied on other channels, and not even their bluesky has any actual minature showcases of the finished products, i think they only had hype renders pre kickstarter. No boards, no inspiration beyond using it as a lore and art dump.

I backed both Kickstarters and each time it was a shitshow. The physical models on the first KS were late and about the same quality as early Chinese recasts, ie wank. I had to constantly email them about the STLs before I finally got them, and when I had a look at them in Lychee they were full of voids (the most rookie mistake you can make when 3D modelling with the intention of printing the end result). To give them some credit, they have been on the ball getting the models fixed. A lot of people were complaining about the pre-supported stuff, but after running a 3D-printing business for about 6 years now I wouldn't entertain the idea of using pre-supported files anyway, so I missed out on the fun there.

Using Only Games means they'll get a decent cut of any physical model sale they make, with little to no involvement on their side. Its a no-brainer from a business perspective, but Only Games' quality is shite. I bought a handful of minis just to see what I was up against and I would be ashamed to sell those to someone. If memory serves me correctly Only Games are now part of MMF, so there is always an incentive for someone selling via MMF to use Only Games for their physical distribution, as opposed to selling commercial licenses to third parties. I guess thats fine if you have no pride in your work.

I've got huge buyer's remorse about Trench Crusade in general now. The game itself is okay. Just okay. I expected a lot more given the talent involved. One of the biggest problems it faces is the distribution of the rules/lists. Sometimes you will see things released on Discord, sometimes you will see a link Pedosky, sometimes you will see a random link in a the thread on /tg/ (more on that later). There is no central distribution of any material associated with the game.

Its symptomatic of an over-arching problem with the game as a whole, in that it needs a competent project manager. Managing creative types is like herding fucking sheep at the best of times (and I'll grudgingly admit they have my sympathy for having to deal with 3D modelers; they're cancer) and with such a small crew handling something like this its evident that the whole thing is being done by committee. The whole thing seems to fire off in multiple directions without completing anything. Its especially galling when you take into account how much money they made. There is more than enough in the pot to take someone on in a temporary capacity to get this shit in order. I dread to think what a clusterfuck the physical book is going to turn out like.

Hitching their wagon to the Inq28/28 Mag has killed a lot of the enthusiasm in most of the people I've spoken to. I dipped my toe in the water with that a few years back and it is full of some of the most pretentious cunts I've ever encountered, even by tabletop gaming standards. Even if you ignore the politics (which they very firmly pin to their mast), they're just not good people. When you see people getting witch-hunted in Facebook groups for the heinous crime of actually being good at painting, you know shit is fucked. Its Traphouse with an oil wash.

Looking back on it, I should have picked up on the Mork Borg vibes at it's inception. I think at it's heart Trench Crusade is just another art project that spun wildly out of control.

...Its also one of the few games where the (dwindling) thread on /tg/ has it's own dedicated jannies. That should tell you all you need to know.

There was a huge kickstarter for a subfaction of the Kingdom of Antioch (poll wise, most popular faction since its easy to kitbash, as they are the regular humans of the setting without the fucked up zealotry of the Pilgrims) called the Red Brigade. It made gangbusters despite having fucked up tiers (iirc, you had to buy fucking arms and bodies separetly like its some kind of janky copyright infringing Cults3D listing) and the full army being pretty fucking expensive (i think it was 160 CAD for all the STLs, some of which were not usable in skirmish games or were heretic based)

Now, the Red Brigade is notable because they actually had special rules that were built for their aesthetics before the kickstarter (zealotry, depression, dual wielding pistols and hecking doggos) but guess what, you wont find the rules in any of the rulebooks, sites, or apparently not even the kickstarter, they're still hidden in the fucking discord, same for the Kingdom of Abyssania, the New Antioch variant thats based around proud Ethiopian KANGS (the art looks cool, atleast) i think there were also other discord rules for The Muslims and the Heretics, but i cant remember what they were


Their site is fucking useless at actually being a hub for the project itself, some discord shekels being spent on a retard that actually manages online social media would go a long way. But they seemingly threw their hat in with incompetent retards that seethepost on FB about fucking painting.
