As much as I'd like to see the problems plaguing modern tf2 dealt with, don't games like CS and DotA to an extent also have issues with cheaters and bots? It's been a pretty hot topic recently in even those games from what I've heard here and there. If even CS is having these issues, with as much money that it makes, I doubt telling Valve "WE WANT TF2 FIXED, CMON" is going to do anything.
If you look at CS2 and how Valve ignored that game for last couple years of the CS:GO era. Valve only updated it when they needed testing for features that would be a part of CS2 later. I don't know the state of DOTA2, but if I go with how CS2 works, there is no way TF2 is ever going to get fixed. Valve runs on the bare minimum effort philosophy, and only get shit done if it absolutely needs to be fixed. Right now, you can still download and start the game to open cases, so that's "working" in their eyes. The game is not really making as much money as the other games too, so I'm wondering if these crying retards ever got the "le profit and le effort" meme.

But there is more to it:
Deadlock. That game is supposed to be an Overwatch type of a game, and Overwatch was basically a weeaboo version of TF2. So I'm guessing that Valve spend the last couple of years just focusing on Deadlock, a replacer for TF2 rather than updating it. TF2 retards still can't see that this is how CS:GO was treated: ignored into oblivion, with only case updates and then suddenly CS2 came out.

If even CS is having these issues, with as much money that it makes, I doubt telling Valve "WE WANT TF2 FIXED, CMON" is going to do anything. Like they'll stop trying to fix the current issues plaguing their huge money makers to fix their game from 2007 that they haven't completely abandoned yet because somehow it still makes some money off of some really dedicated people who love throwing money at.... what do they even add to tf2 anymore? More ill fitting cosmetics and then some gun skins that literally nobody cares about?

What I find kinda wild is how often these tf2 youtubers talk about how much they love the game and just want a place to play it unmolested, or the way they think is the best, but they just need valve to come do it for them. Can't these retards host their own dedicated servers? I've hosted dedicated servers for many other games, including source games. You can config the game into pretty much anything you want, it's really not that hard. Maybe the bots and cheaters are actually so aggressive and massive in presence that even a dedicated server will get fucked with by them - and if so, then fair enough - but if not, it's pretty fucking stupid to see the guys with like 150k subscribers who can get like 400k views on a video be like "Nothing I could possibly do about this. We need valve to do something"
Nobody, lest of all YouTube "personalities", wants to get to brass tacks on the cheating issue. There are only 3 approaches, sometimes a mix and match of the three:
  1. Client-side. This is a game of cat and mouse, with legitimate players having to install what amounts to a rootkit from a fucking game developer company on their computer as the latest development. Game companies only hire the best, right? Not to mention the existence of new tech that allows you to read a program's RAM via hardware extensions. Cheating is a business now, a profitable one.

  2. Server-side. This eats into your budget if you are a company hosting thousands of servers, as well as making you deal with false positives or claims of false positives. Community servers have been using this since forever, latest iteration by some hysterical tranny helps weed out most of them.

  3. Community patrolling. Hardest to do, requires a player base of high trust individuals. Good luck getting this. Every retarded dribbler from every third world shithole has been given Internet access since age 5.

I feel strongly valve has gone full corporate and only money will get them focused on TF2 again. Hearing all the leaks from the employees about how new game ideas devs were pitching got shot down by higher ups because they only want games that will make them billions instead of millions shows "old valve" is long gone. They're now just as bad as your typical run-of-the-mill greedy modern video game corporation.
The people that held up the game moved on. Valve are no longer a game development company, they do hardware and VR. Even their new game looks like some higher-up's personal project. When they do add something to the game, it makes them look like the most Korean company in the US. Pay-to-rent CS2 skins anybody? 10$ a week.

The people willing to host good servers got muscled out by Skial slop during MYM and left. The player base seems to be interested in le random funnies and consuming new cosmetics. The "fandom" you see touting TF2 shit around the Internet doesn't play the game, they just post memes.

If there ever is a fix of some kind, it's just community organization. Discord zoomers and the trannies grooming them cannot do this and they seem to be the majority behind organizing anything TF2 these days. Can't say there's much demand for what they're advocating for. It's yet another clout farming event.

On a side note what was the 64 bit stuff all about? I don't understand the significance of it because I'm a retarded tech illiterate boomer. Is it just a technical upgrade or does it indicate they might have future plans for TF2 if they're updating the core code?
Future-proofing, the game's compiler can utilize optimisations specific to 64-bit architectures making the game's performance better. TF2 can now, as far as I know, use more of your RAM. Think back to Windows XP days and the hard RAM cap 32-bit versions had. It's like that.

But there is more to it: Deadlock. That game is supposed to be an Overwatch type of a game, and Overwatch was basically a weeaboo version of TF2. This is the real kicker. If Valve has another game ready, and it fills damn near the same niche, then TF2 is no longer ignored, Valve will actively want it to go away ASAP. They like new releases, and if it makes them more cash than TF2, you bet all the hashtags and Youtube essays will matter less than dick.

Yeah that's true. The issues with TF2 are so much bigger than TF2, but the people who play it are so fucking imperceptive of anything that happens outside of their sphere. With esports being so popular now and so many games having marketplaces built into them where real world money can be made, there is more incentive than ever before to cheat for clout/profit or use bots to try and gain the system.

TF2 is in a uniquely kinda shit position since unless you're playing competitive, you have 24 people in a lobby. Community patrolling couldn't be *that* unrealistic in games with smaller team counts. That's kinda how stuff was back when people made clans/guilds in games like Quake and Unreal. You'd play with the guys in your clan in their servers mostly since they're all pretty trustworthy and there's enough of you to get matches, but you'd also sometimes setup matches with other clans in a way that encouraged a friendly competitive vibe. Yeah some people were spergs and took it too seriously or were cunts, but those people just kinda exist everywhere in anything you do.

With TF2 though, you need more than just 6-8 guys. Like you said, none of the youtubers probably want to be running that shit. It's a thankless job and with the high player counts of TF2 per server, you'll need help that can also be trusted.

If this is replacing TF2 I'm going to be MATI. Also a lot of niggers in it

Christ, this really is just an incredibly generic modern hero shooter. The damage all of these weapons and abilities do is ridiculously low.

EDIT: I decided to check the comments and it's all people polishing Valve's knob. I'm incredibly upset.

What surprised me most is people in the comments seem to be looking forward to this. Valve is chasing trends and people are eating it up. Tons of corporate boot lickers as well. Gaming is fucked

It looks really exhausting to play. Spamming a burst rifle for 30-60 minutes straight sounds like it would get really old. This isn't as bad in DOTA where your auto attacks are, well, automatic.

To clarify, it won't replace TF2 like CS2 removed CS:GO in order for the game to get a higher player count, they will just ignore TF2. No more cases and updates. You can cope and seethe for a while, be MATI, but eventually you have to accept the following fact: Team Fortress 2 is abandonware, just be happy that it's Valve and not EA/Ubisoft so that you can at least play community on servers.

At least you got the 64-bit version in the end.

TF2 has been abandonware for the last 6 years. We're already getting none of the maintenance and TLC the game desperately needs, and now we won't be getting any new fucking furry cosmetics anymore either. I'd say that's a win if anything.

TF2 is dying guys, we need to save it ...:(

Good that is dying. I would rather love to see it die, remembering great times me and most of the people here had playing this one of a kind hero shooter then to letting it live in the hands of these sick coomer degenerate sex pests ruining the image of what tf2 really was.

I'm so upset at myself because I didn't save this. There was a #FixTF2 video which showed up really high on Twitter when you searched the tag and it starts off with TF2 characters rigged to Guitar Hero animations and out of nowhere the creator's fursona shows up as the lead member and starts singing and dancing with a guitar.

It perfectly encapsulates the movement, honestly. But I wish I could find it again.

I think I found it?

Yes, that's it. Thank you. It's as lame as I remembered.

When I see this, it tells me the person was more concerned about putting themselves forward rather than this thing they're actually supporting. That and how this is like something uploaded in 2009 if you removed the Twitter screenshots.

Holy shit that video is amazing. There's alot of SFM animations and other random clips/gifs on twitter under #FixTF2, but this doesn't seem like a winning strategy to me. I think these guys need to start uploading close-up videos of their faces, recorded vertically on their phone, explaining themselves.

I am going to sound so schizophrenic when i say this but i always felt like the whole 'bot problem' was started by some community server owner. I don't know, like every source game had some sorta cheating problem (from cs:go to tf2), but it wasn't to this degree. Why did i think that the community server owners are behind it? They have most to gain with this whole situation they fill slots on servers that they can make money from (ads or thoes faggot ass VIP packs)
