Honestly am pretty sad checking in this thread and realizing Yugioh Abridged still isn't finished. LK should have finished it in the mid 2010's when it was relevant. Former fans have moved on and the Yugioh show/manga fandom is pretty dead now.

All I want now is a new episode of Ninjabridged where he shits on himself and TFS for not finishing their work. But he obviously doesn't have it in him anymore.

He burnt out and refused help because he was like Kaiser in that it needed to be all him. He eventually set up a patreon with a goal where he hired editors to get things out more frequently and started using other abridged VAs but even then he kept losing steam and eventually gave up.

Even if he'd done one episode a month he would have had this over and done with ages ago but then he couldn't scam people with the promise of more episodes coming soon, he promises.

He was so butthurt about Gohan not becoming the protagonist after the Cell Saga that people thought his whining was trying to be Antifa sloganizing.
I will admit that even I still feel like cucking out and just bringing Goku back was kinda lame, narratively speaking. I think Gohan could've been a decent new MC.

You'd think that alone would be enough to justify doing the Buu saga. They already committed to turning the series into an alternate dub instead of a goofy comedy series, so why the hell not? :smug:

Cell saga is narratively a great end to the story. Gohan becoming the MC just doesn't work though, in large part because I don't think Toriyama could write a MC who isn't Goku. Just imagine if he never brought him back and we just had a hundred more episodes of Great Saiyaman.

Abridged ending with Cell because it's a better ending really is retarded though. They're doing a comedic retelling of DBZ and they quit right before the most ludicrous story arc. It really goes to show how they take themselves more seriously than the actual creator of DBZ ever did.

In hindsight it's better it did, because we got to see firsthand what a TFS Buu saga would've been, and it sucked.

While I don't think Toriyama had it in him to do it and ending the series with the end of Cell would have been the best thing for DBZ, Gohan becoming the new MC and attempting to take on Goku's mantle as the strongest/defender of earth is narratively and logically where the story should have gone should it have had to continue (which it did because of how fucking successful it was).

Saiyaman would have been a good way for him to reluctantly start down the path of being a superhuman warrior when he wants to just be a normal person and over time he could have thrown off the superhero act to finally accept who he is and put on the Gi and fight whoever was trying to destroy earth/wipe out humanity that Tuesday.

Just because Kaiser is a terrible manager of others and himself, and had nowhere near the skills to pull something like this off, doesn't mean he didn't have the right idea of where the story should have logically gone. But that is only if you look at it as a re-write, which is what Kaiser clearly wanted to do towards the end, even though he was REALLY bad at it.

You are absolutely correct that the Buu arc is a fucking goldmine for abridging and, if they were still abridging at that point, it makes no sense to end at the Cell arc.

Abridged Gohan written to be the kid that peaked at 11 would have been fun. Like, he's trying so hard to be the main character, thinks he's doing a good job, then all of a sudden "Hi, son!"

But that could only work if abridging wasn't serious business that needs to be taken seriously.

Kaiser is still the worst but I've grown to hate LittleKuriboh. He's a whiny, lying, emotionally manipulative POS. He's still crying about Kirbopher like a decade later as if Chris Niosi did anything more than just talk shit about him. Like just shut the fuck up Martin.

Ooo what's the story on that? I thought they were friends since LK did voice work for TOME.

I don't honestly know the whole story but apparently Kirbopher did something or said something or things and it cause LK to exit the voice acting industry. At least I think that's what happened. He's been crying about it for literally years now and just today reposted an old Twitter bitch thread from 2023 onto Bsky for asspats. His whole attitude just comes off as a pathetic whiny child. Like dude your 44 just shut the fuck up about it.

Great Saiyaman was the first time I actually liked Gohan. I don't like the Cell Saga overall, but I especially hated Gohan being thrown in as the focus at the end. I'd literally be happier with any other character taking the spotlight there no matter how much bullshit would be needed to justify them throwing hands with Cell.

I think the Cell Saga is overrated as fuck. Majin Buu is more fun as a villain though I'm biased because his fat buu design is just so cute.
The problem with teen Gohan is just the fact that he's boring.
Teen Gohan can be boring especially the beginning of the Buu arc my God. If he and Videl had spent more time playing superhero I may have enjoyed it more but it's such drag to get them to the tournament and get Goku back on earth.
To get back on track I'm not surprised Yugioh abridged fizzled out trying to conclude Battle City. A lot of manga readers lost interest when Battle City ended causing the Egypt arc to get rushed through by Takakashi much to his regret. The same was bound to happen once Yami Bakura and Marik stopped having screentime.

He could have just jumped to this arc, though the Oricalcus arc is absolutely fantastic for abridging. It wad so exceedingly retarded.

Fair enough I suppose, I thought the Saiyaman arc was universally disliked. I will defend the Cell saga as the best arc though. It was the era with the widest cast of people who can actually do anything. I mean, even Tenshinhan got his moment. Cell as a villain didn’t have the personality/history of Frieza or the fun of Buu. But I do love the idea of an engineered creature who uses all the techniques our heros have had. Plus its poetic in a way that it ended with Gero and Goku both throwing their greatest creations against one another. Kid Gohan is lame when you compare him to the other Z fighters, but him having latent power was always the basis of his character.

That was who he was alluding to as being "toxic"? :story: What're the odds Kirb was just ribbing on him like everyone in the clique does and Martin didn't recognize it or just couldn't take it?

And he got laughed at for his crypost two years ago, what made him think he'd get a different reception from Bluesky?
