Some fun drama happening: Knee and Arslan are aguing.
Essentially Knee calling out Arslan for saying Bryan is Top 1, and deserves nerfs. Knee is claiming Arslan is playing politics, trying to get Knee's character nerfed. As fighting game beefs should be settled, Knee challenged Arslan to a FT10, with mains swapped (Knee - Nina, Arslan - Bryan). Arslan agreed - next year.
Both characters deserve to get gutted IMO, they've given Bryan way too many tools to patch his weaknesses, and Nina is just constant pressure. Pretty much every character deserves nerfs, if not every character. I do agree with people though, it'll probably be S3 next year and (hopefully) things will be different. Considering there is 2 EVOs, the one after the EVO in a few days is probably enough time to prepare (especially if Bryan is top 1).

Around Warrior people start to understand the game, below that is mostly just comedy.
8 is the first I've actually played online (while 2 was the first Tekken I've ever played) and when I quit because I didn't feel like paying for PSN and dealing with WiFi shitters anymore, I had a winrate at about 90%+ using just Kuma.
I really prefer to play this against someone in the same room.

Fahk is a terrible boring character btw., I'd rather have Kuni back.
I'm still convinced Fahk at his core is just what remained from Sagat from the cancelled Tekken x Street Fighter.

Might get Armor King though, we had some really great matches in 7 against King with him.

Grand finals was pretty meh, Arslan basically got washed until the Nina swap. "I didn't want to play her, [Nina] got nerfed!" Downplayers learn from the best. Anna is pretty wild, no idea what her weakness is supposed to be now.

Although I will say a buffed backdash might be all they'd need to nerf Nina. She's still got stubby range, but you can't really escape. Though I guess they want you just to press buttons, so we'll see if that ever happens (hopefully at least in T8).

Current Fahk is much better than T7 gameplay wise, but he's still a string mixup character. He needs nerfs, but I doubt he's broken enough to get people to swap to him in tourney, especially when everyone is broken. I'd also like Kuni back but definitely not in T8. She was cancer in T7, and that was supposed to be defensive Tekken. Considering they seem to not account for character playstyle in balance (leading to things like Hwo or Drag), she'd definitely be cancer and probably for a long time.

Dang, that I wonder how many stances will that Madagascar girl have.
Anna got 2 new stances (from 2 if you count crouch dash), which is pretty absurd. I don't think they thought out enough giving her range and such while she still has a bit of the Nina gameplay. Just poorly designed, and it shows with how disliked she is.
Fahk sorta, its what replaced his guardbreak. Though I can understand people preferring guaranteed damage rather than the guess for your life. I think its at least better than Lidia's, but they are both a bit ass.
They do seem to be giving AK some more stance cancels (the T8 staple), but he did have shadow step in T7 at least, and TT2 but it was only for a grab there. The fire stuff is apparently not an install at least, so we'll see, I imagine its either heat or like Jin's psuedo stance where he pulls out the mishima moves. I'm hopeful after Fahk, but obviously AK isn't going to fix the rest of the game no matter how fun he is.
I will give that the game is pretty absurd with stances. Only characters with no stance period is Asuka and Claudio, but you can add Bryan, Kazuya, Nina, and Paul if you don't count crouch dashes/sways. Even 33/39 characters is pretty absurd.

I did see some controversy about the Madagascar girl, namely people upset that there's Africa representative but they aren't super black. I'll have to see their gameplay, but so far they do seem somewhat generic, especially with how many thought it was Elena initially. I almost guarantee she has one stance like the other T8 newcomers, but hopefully its not core to her game plan at least (though thats highly optimistic).

Also, VF6 got another trailer. Looks neat enough, and while I appreciate giving plenty of information, it feels a bit soon. We have no idea for a release date, and if they keep giving out detail by detail I'm going to imagine its going to be around 2027 at the earliest, with the PS6. It currently looks good, but the thing I'd be worried about is whether it will have good netcode or enough of an audience to survive (hopefully do at least better than the new Garou).

They also went bananas with all the installs/debuffs/gimmics as all DLC characters and a good chunk of the base roster have 'em lmao. The meme is true: Kaz (and a few few others maaaybe) are the only ones playing (sorta) classic Tekken still. They should just give everyone gimmicks imo, go full retard, oh and nerf Nina for once, she's been carrying that annoying Arselan pajeet for two years now.
VF is looking ok I guess, it's the only alternative unless MK does a 180 and goes back to being 3d/fun/rushdown. Sega oughta hire some voice actors for their trailers ffs.

What the heck is going on with Tekken??

You know I wouldn't have a problem with all this stance shit if the game wasnt made to be played with the same strategy everytime: Ridiculous launcher that hits you from the other side of the map, gigantic combo with wall carry that now every character has (sorry Lee) pop heat to get to the wall, wall ender for a million damage, then one more guess at the wall and gg.

If they hadn't nerfed movement to hell and dumbed down every character then it would be whatever, but not only did they do it, they introduced all the terrible bad habits from other games like microtransactions and a fucking battlepass, in a fighting game of all things. I think after the AK hype dies down, the game will nosedive, that whatever generic anime fighting girl isnt going to move the needle at all. I almost don't want to get AK, I know what's going to happen, I'm going to get bored in 2 weeks then uninstall the game. It's all so tiresome.

There are 0 characters without either a stance, crouch dash, or install. Annoying part on top of all the stances is that most act almost the same, with a few getting a unique cancel (like Hei's stance into crouch dash). Only 2 feel especially different, namely Alisa's chainsaws or Yoshi's no sword stance. Too bad both of those characters are notoriously annoying. Its pretty funny that they even compensated Nina's nerfs If Im remembering right, yet Arslan still brings up the nerfs in the winning speech. Almost seems like he played Nina as little as possible just for the nerfs game, since audience opinion is pretty clear for Anna.
I do wish MK was doing better, while MKX had many issues it was at least fun.

I think the no neck is doing zero favors. Its pretty funny, because I see a common complaint from certain areas is that the females look very similar and doll like, so i guess they aren't appealing to either sides' crowds.

They really need to cut down combo length too, hopefully that would help everyone's absurd wall carry. Would also make it so pokes arent worthless in comparison to launchers hopefully. I am a bit surprised that I don't see more grabs for position changes though.

I minded the battlepass more when I realized some of it was just rehashed content from T7. I have no idea admittedly for how costumes went in that game, but its definitely worse in T8.

I'm guessing its because if the grab doesn't come out some stupid stance, after a heat engager and/or blocked heat burst that leaves you at 1 million plus frames it really isn't worth it. When everyone hits like a truck and has easy win buttons with heat, there really isn't an incentive to play Tekken, which I guess is the main objective with Harada now, knowing the playerbase its made up mostly of niggers and pajeets, you have to dumb down the game as much as you can. Maybe its just me, but at times Tekken 8 feels like rock 'em sock 'em robots, really little strategy or creativity needed.

She's more or less a p2w character at this point, since you have to buy her.

What about the other models? If it's consolidation, Crapcom did Cammy dirty with her new outfit. Did Kuma even get any swimwear!?

It's crazy how Anna and Asuka can really demonlish a health bar like this. People weren't happy that some scrubby Asuka player got to the Top 24 because he played like scrub, yet Knee and JDCR lost. I won't be surprised if they make another documentary for the new character (I already forgot her name).

Did any of you start out interested in fighting games, but find it near impossible to make snap decisions during real games? I have dozens of hours in T8, but over and over I'd find an effective flowchart with one character and once someone broke through it I'd get fucked. It's some noob shit but I couldn't adapt to real time decisions. Did anyone else hit that hurdle and break through?

Man.... i am tired.

We allready have Azucena in game, Josie and Christie are catching dust somewhere.

Now we're gonna get discount Elena from Street Fighter.

Also i hate the fact thats another copy paste "Tekken 8 female face 1" character.
I am absolutely sure Bamco 3D artists can't create more than one face due to autism.

Harada: Let's make an african heritage character that will be accepted by most playerbase without being racist.

I know some (including me) are a bit hopeful Mary Sue has ties to Ogre with the red eyes and shackles. Will see though.

Easy to get bogged down, especially in Tekken when there's so many options. I think that might be layers, but I might be using that term wrong. I've definitely had some matches where my opponent shut me down and I wasn't sure what to do, so its probably just practice.
Tekken 6 is still the best looking Tekken game. Nobody can change my mind on that. Every character looked unique, the art style was great, and everything was way more grounded. I actually do like the concept art of that girl, but the outcome looks atrociously generic.
Either T6 or TTT2, though they looked pretty alike. I think T8 looks decent, but it does have a same face problem. T5 has some obvious age, and T7 weirdly plastic-y. I don't think TTT2 or T6 would even need more than increasing the resolution for a re-release (and netcode obviously).

She is cute but wtf, why do they hate Christie so much? And Poor Josie too.

Katarina? Hello? Any of your fuckers you dumped on us in your last damn game?

Minus Lucky Chloe of course?

I miss TTT2 mailman, all raging and salty. T7 got him close to Bamco and T8 made him a company man. Dood/ShillDx and the rest of retarded positivism pakis/blacks streaming Tekken are as pathetic as the "commentary community"-esque bunch of tards seething about a greedy chinky company making greedy chinky company stuff. Just nerf everyone and bring back T7 backdash, they'll shut up 90% of the salt instantaneously.
