Terminator: Dark Fate - Cause we need another one of these apparently.

The downside is this I suspect. With the cast of the original getting older, they will likely have much reduced roles over a period of time. It already looks from the trailer that Arnie won't be in the movie for the majority of it. I suspect in the attempt to transition the trilogy to new faces, they're likely going to kill off Sarah and the Terminator at some point over the next two to three films. Hopefully in some poignant way. (Though Arnie dying in the series is nothing new.)

Arnies new terminator,if the leaks are true, is the one who kills John in the first few minutes of the movie back in 1992. It spends the next 30 or so years without a purpose but because it has a learning chip the Terminator from T2 had is develops a conscience and realizes the gravity of what it did. The Dylan Roof soldier character has tattoos on her body that are coordinates to find the location of the Arnie terminator who is there to help save the new Juan Conner character girl.

Also the new terminator is apparently called the Rev9 (supposed to sound similar to Revenant I think), so when the next trailer comes out if you hear them call it the Rev9, then that confirms the leak and the leak says its a good action film, but it has its share of bullshit politics and the new retcon is that Skynet never really existed. It was a diversion project run by "LEIGON" which is like some human controlled thing...I dont know, it sounds stupid as hell and plausible.

Isn't it obvious?
They literally KILL John Connor in the first five minutes of the movie.
This chick has to be somewhat sexually ambiguous, because she is going to LARP as John Connor at the end of the movie.
If you think that sounds crazy, this is EXACTLY what they were going to do with the ending of Terminator Salvation. They actually shot and edited this ending. Then they showed it to the audience in a test screening, and the audience fucking hated it. So they reshot it to have Sam Worthington give Christian Bale his heart instead.

I'm telling you. The LGBT-1000 is going to larp as John Connor at the end of this movie.
You forgot to add they made Future John Connor a Terminator and killed him in the last one and i am dead fucking serious, they will stop at nothing to ruin the franschise in ways even 3 shitting on 2 ending will look less awful than the horrors to come

Edward Furlong is back as John Conner in this movie. He's looked like shit for the past few years. Wonder if they're gonna keep him off the booze and make him go on a diet.

Glorified cameo, after credits scene, I ain't sure but it possibly pokes some holes in the rumored leak...Which could still mean the plot twist could be Conner is alive and hiding, but we'll see,

New video showing off some of the film and its effects.

I'm a little more optimistic but I also know better. I think we all do.

So here's my problem with the trailer. They keep going on about how it's gonna be a thrill ride and how it's gonna be nonstop action, but one of the more underappreciated things about T1 and T2 was the quiet character moments, the scenes where thing settle down for a bit and can even get emotional, like the scene in the first movie where Kyle professed his love for Sarah, and to say nothing about the ending to the second movie. Not only does it provide contrast, but it also makes the audience care about what's going on. The first two movies had excellent characters and it was because of the occasional quiet moments that paced the movie on an emotional level.

On the other hand though, that isn't exactly advertisement material for an action movie. "Watch this action movie to feel things other than excitement!" So maybe the final product carries that aspect too, who knows until it actually comes out. Plus the trailer does a better job at selling the movie than the original so it has that going for it.

My initial thought was that if they could make Mark Hamill look halfway decent for Star Wars, then they could do something for Furlong. Until I realized Hamill just aged badly while Furlong's problems are more than just aging poorly.

I DONT FUCKING CARE ABOUT TIME TRAVEL JUDGEMENT DAY ANYMORE!!

They got one place to go: General Connor, and Skynet War. You could even stretch a trilogy out of it...

But, thats it other than some campy cross over like 'Terminator vs Corky Ramono'
I know AVP was dogshit but I've wanted a Robocop vs Terminator movie since I was a kid.

I think thats more the motorcycle accident he was in that messed up his face.

My Photoshop-fu isn't too fancy, but I put together an image of how the Trooninator might look if xey were an actual girl:

I could see that happening. I think you'd want to keep some distance from John himself, though - your main protagonist should be a regular human.
  • Movie 1: Opens with Judgement Day, and you follow Pete Protagonist as he is shuffled into the camp for elimination, the same camp where John is. "He taught us to rise up, to rush the wire of the camps..." While Pete has some close contact we mostly experience John through his reactions, and the climatic end of the movie is the destruction of the camp and humanity's hope rekindling as they rise to fight.
  • Movie 2: Now Pete is a bona fide freedom fighter, and humanity is slowly working to strike back, liberating camps and finding horrible experiments with proto-terminators with rubber skin. This is when the 800 series shows up, and these cyborg killers are gutting the human camps. Its desperate, and dirty like Kyle's flashback in T1. The only thing that keeps humanity together and the cohesion in Pete's unit is John's amazing charisma. They have to strike at Skynet's heart, and in the ruins of a Terminator-destroyed human enclave John gives a heartfelt speech about the assault on Skynet's mainframe and terminator production.
  • Movie 3: Humanity is lean, with only the scarred and the lucky left alive. Time is running out, and John himself leads the strike force into the meat grinder that is Skynet's fortress, an industrial nightmare of death. The losses in Pete's squad are enormous as they carve and blast their way through the Terminator labs, the torture facilities, and the mainframe itself. John is wounded, maybe even mortally so in the course of victory. There are no hospitals to save him - but humanity's foe is vanquished at last. Except....there is the time travel experiment. At the very end, John gives his blessing and sends one of his soldiers back through time.

John Connor, being a messianic figure is better handled from a moderate distance I feel.

It was more than just booze, wasn't it? And doesn't his ex-wife have a restraining order against him?

Christ, I had a huge crush on him when I was 13. If only I had known then what would happen to him. *shudder*

I really wonder why it's so hard to make a movie in the Terminator Franchise that is actually a success.
We've seen Sarah Connor get saved in 1, we watched John being saved in 2, all other movies fucking suck, need to be wiped and we can jump right into what everyone would love to see:
Judgement Day and the desolate wasteland of the future. Give us an action-movie with shittons of Terminators blasting away with pulsed plasma rifles in the 40-Watt range.
Just cause it's called Terminator doesn't mean we need a stupid time-traveling cyborg or a tagalong Arnie in every movie.

Edit:
Oh gooooood, the trailer begins with Sarah Connor being bested by that new chick.
They really want us to think of her as the cool, powerful, strong new character . . . And what better way to achieve that than to have her best a geriatric woman that (from a plot point of view) has served her purpose 2 decades ago.

The special effects look like shit, this scene in particular:
The plane, the skull, the way how the skull rolls, everything looks cheap and shitty.

I'm a bit confused here. The ugly Dylan Roof looking female terminator is the bad guy right? Why do we care if the villain is empowered? Why does a singleminded ruthless assassin care about catcalling and sexism? Why is all of this so stupid?
Cause the directors don't know what they're doing except for milking this already dead franchise to death for money and attention.

I wish Hollywood would stop using the nanomachine trope in their stories. The Terminators were scary when they looked and acted like robots made of actual mecanical parts. Now with the nanomachine crap, it's like magic, they can pop up out of nowhere, make copies of themselves when the script needs it etc. At least the liquid-metal one was scary because it reminds us of the mercury, a dangerous element.

So it appears that the plot leaks are true (click at your own risk... at this point, might as well do it and save yourself the time and money).
The Charles098 guy must be one of the paid shills, he can't just post dumb shit like that:
"Well, we all know what T3, Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles, Salvation and Genisys did to John. The worse portrayal being the one in Sarah Connor Chronicles. "
The guy clearly has never watched TSCC. The show is about Sarah raising her son to become the leader of mankind (at least until the twist in the last episode). The actor did a great job.
Also I like how he's saying that this new movie is totally different from the other Terminator movies except that it's the same story but with different characters, more woke-friendly. This movie is the TFA of the Terminator franchise.
