Didn't they reach≤200,000 built years ago?
In 2018 they hit the 200k mark with the Model 3 coming into production, company almost died trying to get the 3 out, but has done well since then production-wise.

They produced 1.845 million vehicles in 2023, the chart is not complete.
Ford and the other auto manufacturers struggled because they spent a large amount of time not really doing any EV stuff (2012-2018 ), and personally I don't think they can manage a switch, they've been doing the same thing for so long, and have forever been playing catch up. I did find the Cybertruck range to be on the low end, but we'll have to see if they can do better.

when will they learn to stop making big ass vehicles evs? theyre too heavy for the batteries you wanna use. the only reason theyre this big in the first place is because of cafe laws. cafe laws dont apply to evs just make the cars smaller

Bigger is nicer inside and imo much better on the highway, smoother, quieter lots less effort holding a straight line at 80mph not counting wind but lots of small cars are high profile enough they get thrown around by wind just the same as a Tahoe or something.

Id take a cyber truck if I had the ... whatever you call it, if I were able to pull off a yellow hummer or hot pink Lambo a cyber truck too would fit but irl a Silverado EV seems pretty cool to me except last time I looked they were saying the shitty work truck trim level (had leather in the pics lol) was 80k.

They're trying to appeal to the market that currently buys SUVs and trucks by selling them the same car "but electric".

In the end the main consoomers of EV are middle and upper class champagne progressives that want to appear to be environmentally friendly but god forbid they use a small european/japanese car. No they deserve a massive monstrosity that does several times the emission indirectly for their online activism.

I saw Doug's video earlier this week showcasing the Cybertruck and immediately I was reminded of my days driving my 2001 Chrysler Town and Country van in that once the electronic or motor functions of the doors fail you will have to open the door manually. When I watched the breakdown of the Cybertruck I realized that some functions like the sliding bed cover don't seem to have a handle or a way to manually open it in case that very issue occurs. Am I the only one to notice this or has this been pointed out prior because I feel like that's something they neglected just so they'd make a killing on repair fees in the future.

I'm not too familiar with other Tesla cars, do they also have automatic opening doors without handles or is this a new trend emerging?

Yes, this is the standard for Tesla cars. All models use electronic door handles and the manual release switches tend to crack the window. Some models don't have manual switches in the rear seats.

I can't believe Tesla buyers are willing to overlook that incredible safety issue. I remember when the C6 Corvette was brand new and GM switched to button actuated door releases instead of a mechanical latch. People were up in arms over that change despite GM having integrated a manual door lever in case of emergencies near the edge of the seat.

So based on what I'm hearing, the Cybertruck's pedals and airbags are all controlled by a complex computer (not a PLC) that is clearly NOT using a real-time kernel to ensure time sensitive interrupts are processed immediately, and the computers on people's Cybertrucks are now starting to lag.

Alfa Romeo unveiled their new EV, the Milano, as they're attempting to go EV-only by 2027:

The front of the car looks shockingly similar to Soyjak faces, for some reason. And while the US will be spared from this abomination, for now, there's a chance that it could appear as a rebadged Dodge/Jeep/Fiat, in typical Stellantis fashion.

Mercedes-Benz decides to put some lipstick on their pig of an EV that is the EQS:

And Fiat thinks that people will waste $34k on an EV version of the 500, which has a wimpy 117 horsepower and only 140-150 miles of range:

Even the Leaf and Bolt make more HP than this 500, and can actually fit people inside.

Oh glorious Elon, please bestow upon us the secrets of downloading more RAM and preparing an SSD for the Cybertruck! Only then can we be saved from the dreaded lag, bane of drivers and gamers alike!

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi, will also sell an EV, the SU7, and will price it specifically to undercut Teslas, at $30k.

The fact that Xiaomi will sell these EVs at ~$10k loss/each, as well as Xiaomi's tendencies to abandon their products after a few years of sales, does not bode well for long-term ownership, i.e. trying to find replacement parts when they inevitably break, despite how EV Stans are praising this car for being the "affordable EV that people are waiting long for", and "sticking it to Elon".

Some people have already reported issues with their SU7s:

And the car looks like a combination of a McLaren front end, with the back end of a Lincoln sedan. (?)

I didn't realise the level of irritation I could feel watching a video. Both of these cunts need to die in an (ev) fire. Annoying tits

If Tesla had brought an actual pickup truck to market they would have easily beaten all the other manufacturers. It's really more of an SUV where you can sometimes roll up the back cover and put taller stuff in. Hard/impossible to load from the sides into the bed, ugly as fuck, etc.

Ford had the right idea with the F150 but the range is too limiting especially if you want to tow.

Chevy/GMC looks like an Avalanche, but at least is mostly usable as a truck and towing seems decent.

If RAM delivers on their range promises they may well win the first generation of EV pickups, but they'll be last to market.
Usually Elon drops some whacky car with zero practically to gather all the clouts. Once he finishes selling and delivering his proof of concepts, he would then release mass produced products like model 3 and Y. Difference between model s/model x and model 3/y are mainly price point and concept to market approach.

From what I'm reading in this thread, the toxic battery fumes will kill you long before the on-borad computer will open the doors/windows for you.

You could have avoided this if you bought the extra ram and renewed your subscription.

How is it even legal to have airbags not based on a mechanical process? It's basically asking for a PC freeze to kill everyone in the car.

It's the old joke about if Microsoft made cars. Honestly it's fascinating how batshit Tesla is. I naturally assumed that they had a proper Plc subsystem handling vital systems like airbags and brakes, so it's rather disturbing to find out they don't.

So many Tesla's (and other EVs) around me. Most are driven by Pajeets and chinks with some having "Please be Patient Student driver" stickers on them. They all have the most eye-searing LED headlights known to man. The thermal runaway problem I think will only get worse as the cars start to age and degrade internally.

I can't wait to see the EV wasteland in 5-10 years. They're peak consumerism. You won't see a 10 year old electric car on the road, but you will 10+ year old ICE cars on the road all the time. Even old hybrids will work without a fully functional battery pack.
