For me that was Damageplan. Personally, their stuff isn't as good as what they did before (Vinnie and Dimebag were in Pantera), but I think their only album is still a pretty good Groove Metal/Nu-Metal album, if that's your thing. Definitely has some bangers.

Viking era Bathory is my favorite era of Bathory. Blood On Ice is a pretty underrated album in my opinion, I listen to it just as much as Hammerheart and Twilight of the Gods.

I always find that Americans are better at Metal subgenres than their counterparts. US Thrash > German Thrash, US Death Metal > Swedish Death Metal, USPM over EUPM and so on. For some reason I think Americans just sound better.

That being said I adore Sodom and Agent Orange is one of my favorite albums of all time.

I have to give him credit where it's due, he's actually recently come clean and admits to being involved with it. At the start of this year an interviewer from Decibel broached the topic and he had this to say:
I worked at Relapse in the mail room when it was largely a mail-order business. I’d answer the phone and people would call to order things like The Meat Shits’ “Sniper At The Fag Parade.” And I’d be like: “yes, we have that in stock and I can send it out right away.” Or they’d want albums with a cover of someone shitting in someone else’s mouth. I was a black and traditional metal fan, but the goregrind stuff sold. We didn’t have the word incel back then, but it would apply to that crowd. I thought [goregrind] was so stupid and made jokes like “I could make something better in my bedroom, and it would sell.” So that’s what we did, try to make something as offensive as possible and sell it to losers. Ask anyone who was involved and they’d tell you the same thing.

His claim that XXX Maniak was a parody of goregrind and existed to make fun of and rip off its fanbase lines up with a bunch of old drama from the time where he and the other dude in the band had a very gay falling out over money and drugs. They admit they never liked goregrind at all, while spamming back-and-forth declarations in allcaps about how the other is a terrible person.

I have no reason to believe that he is lying, XXX Maniak were well-known for being over-the-top and ostentatious even by goregrind standards so them being a parody isn't surprising.
However, even conceding that XXX Maniak was just a cynical rip-off of goregrind, a few things stand out.
1. Making an ultra-misogynistic album with song titles like "Semen for the Basement Slaves" and "Buying a DVD Player (Then Raping You with My Old VHS Tapes)", even to prove a point, is an incredibly male thing to do, and betrays Matt's innate maleness because he is a male.
2. Making a parody band, and then getting really serious and having retarded slapfights with your bandmates in the process, makes you look like a bigger fool than anybody you're satirizing.
3. XXX Maniak is still better than anything Sonja has ever done.

I'm not really into goregrind, heck, not that much into death metal and everything else related and more brutal, more chainsaw, more gore, more fartfetishfuckwhatsoever. But "HOW CAN PEOPLE LIKE STUFF THAT DISGUSTS ME I M GOING TO RIP THEM OFF!!!" is not the own he thinks it is. And of course all these people have to be incels. There is no other way, these people have to be incels.

What a piece of shit.

I cannot stand Dave Mustaine's voice. I've tried to get into Megadeth many times but I can't force myself to listen to it. Sodom has plenty of underrated albums like Code Red, Better Off Dead, and Genesis XIX.

Current American thrash is drowned out by evverything else, along with, in my opinion, bands that lack proper cohesion. Only two "modern" American thrash bands I listen to are Ghoul and Vektor. A German band I wish I didn't miss out on is Cripper.
